This music kept me sane when I was homesick in South Korea back in the late 1990's as a new English teacher. I'm still homesick in Japan, but I have a family to share my culture with
I haven't seen or heard this since the video first came out and aired, but I've never quite forgotten it. Thanks for posting it! Now I'll have to get me the album this was on...
Loved their music for years... even got to see them play this in a concert outside of Amherst a few years ago. Wasn't much of a stage, nor much of a concert, but it had Rawlins' Cross, so it was well worth it!
Definately my favorite song of all of theirs. Always try to draw attention to the band whenever possible, and a video on youtube like this helps alot on awareness!
Just a shame they don't have the recognition they deserve. They should've made it big ;_;
@Kizkit Dude, they did make it big. In Canada. Outside Canada theyre pretty much unknown, but in canada they're pretty big. They performed at Canada Day in Ottawa in the 1990s, they performed on Tv a few times, and they actually have an album on itunes. It seems that if a band has any grounds, it has an album on itunes....though I will admit that "Crossing the Border" is freaking difficult to find anymore!!
Between this song and your version of McPhearson's Lament I think Rawlins Cross has created some of my favourite music. My dad bought the casette way back when I was like 8 and I've always found your music to be "goosebump" inducing. I could listen to the bagpipes for hours.
For me, their version of McPherson's Lament was the first song I learned by ear - played the cassette over and over until I figured it out on the chanter. Started playing in '88 while posted to Gander with The Gander Pipes and Drums.

it's December 21st now here (Istanbul/Turkey),
the longest night of the year has just begun.
let the night be long tonight,
long and dark,
long and silent,
long and misty,
long and lonely..

Sweet song, but what a random video. We could watch the nature channel if we wanted to see horses running through a field.

Yeah, but does the nature channel have such aswesome music?

I forgot all about these guys, I loved them when I was a kid. Their version of McPherson's Lament made me start taking bagpipe lessons.
