This film was a major disappointment for I am a huge Ken Burns fan but this documentary was simplistic with little or no scientific value sure to set our progress back years. I honestly could not tell if this was made by an Evangelist or Ken Burns.
Not to be too political, but I fundamentally disagree with the notion that EVERYTHING the government touches, or gets involved with is ruined. I cite the creation of National Parks System as case in point. Without this socialized and government-run program, our most cherished landscapes would be destroyed and cheapened by private development.
@Telexkrash I agree. The government answer to the people, therefor they are (at least somewhat) enviormentally responsible, whereas the private companies only answer to profit.
Such an experience can be quite humbling. As she says, we're a part of it. JUST a part of it. And we're on their turf. Humans are not "in charge" in the 'Glades. It can be a magnificent experience.
as an American living in China and seeing what happens to unprotected natural resources when development strikes... it makes me very proud/happy that we have our national parks and can't wait to visit some when I'm home on vacation :) I hope that more of this special gets put online!

Thank you for flashing the beautiful Glades, Sea of Grass. Home to the Miccosukee tribe.
I love to be there, it's a big wonderful soup of everything. Tranquillity.
