  • very cool, what do you think it cost you to make? Even if its more than buying one from a store im sure it feels much better just knowing you made it

  • @freestylmx311 The one I made was built completely from stuff laying around my workshop, if I had to buy parts to build it I could in my area get everything including motor at local junkyards for roughly $25.00 or less, for example the shelf brackets new might be $5.00 but 2 pieces of flat bar bent and drilled would do the same job and only be $1.50 at scrapyard, will answer any other questions ,hope this helps.

  • Any suggestions.. diy tumbler with a 5 gallon and walnut shells but it only ran for about 30 minutes and the rubber mount for wore out so then in became a bit more creative and with the same ac motor i made a mount to hold it from the body and the traditional ac mount but the bearing wore out in 4 hrs. Any suggestions.. i have one more ac moter. i am using old tires as springs. Is your motor a ac motor as well?

  • @ilaserdesigns1 if you are trying to make one similar to what I made the problems you are having seem to be caused in my opinion by a too large of a container that putting too much load on motor and bearings,you say you are using a 5 gallon where I am using only about a 1 to 1 and a half ,also yes it is a ac motor, I have had no problems show up with mine yet, let me know if this helps you out.

  • @wvcoyotetrapper thanks for your comments, still using this and having no problems with it ,pretty sure some other fellas have tried to make one similar but have not got much feedback on how they made out.

  • Hi, I also made one myself. I used a car polisher with a counter weight on it. However it seems to only rotate in a circular motion and I am told this is not effective. I' using a rounded container. I don't have a funnel in it, might try that later.

  • good stuff, just a thought since your adding a radial load on the bearings with the counterweight, you may want to look into getting a cylnderical roller bearing for the drive end to save yourself some wear in that drive endball, having radial loads on a roller-ball bearing thats not designed for radial loads will wear down that bearing housing over time. i see it all the time in the shop

  • @thearmysredneck you are probably right in what you are saying but these used motors are a dime a dozen so to stay on the cheap side I figure its cheaper to replace it when needed,and at this point I am still using the same one I started with and it is not showing any signs of trouble after many hours of use,thanks for your comments.

  • Thanks for the video. I can't tell how or if the motor is attached to the base. Could you possible break down how you put all this together?

  • @6roughneck1 10x10 thin steel plate bent in half with a rounded bend not creased,2 shelf brackets 8x6 long end bolted to motor mount and steel plate,short ends hold plywood base over top of motor and pulley with counterweight, base simply sits over pulley, no connection, hope this is some help,also when viewing vidio hit pause at every stage and it will pretty well tell you what you need to know, thanks have a good day.
