I love reading the comments on this film, its been 24 years since it came out and people are still arguing about it. The fact of the matter is, both characters are in the wrong....Dan for cheating on his wife and Alex for sleeping with a man she knew was married, the twist comes when you find out Alex is crazy. And to assume his life went "back to normal", based on the last shot is insane, I would be surprised if, after everything that happened, they would stay together...

The original ending--which had Close commit suicide and stage it to look like she was murdered by Douglas, leading to his arrest--is the perfect ending to a good psychological thriller..flawless irony. Instead,they succumbed to a test audience's misogynistic and sadistic quest for blood and imbalanced vengence. All said and done, every female in the plot suffered irreversible, permanent damage (wife, daughter, mistress) The man's inconvenience was short lived. he suffered no lasting consequences
One issue I had with this movie was that all the contempt seemed to be put on "the crazy bitch" who was destroying this close-knit family, while Douglas' deceit and infidelity raised little discussion. Sure he was assertive with her when she got out of control. But he could have practiced a little control himself in the first place. This movie also shook me because I am an ardent rabbit lover...

I actually had major issues with this movie. Douglas comes off as a victim who has suffered enough by the end and once the wicked evil crazy bitch was dead (ding dong...) the sun came out and life resumed as usual. I didn't like Close's character, but I didn't want Douglas to get his life back at the end either. If anyone had to die (if it was THAT serious) they both should've. Or they both should've gotten over it and moved on. There was no protagonist in this movie. Both antagonists to me..

Classic movie. I love it. If you have the dvd watch the original ending. In case you don't, in the original ending she kills herself after they get in the fight at her apartment. He gets taken off to jail and the wife listens to the tape she made .Where Glenn says if he doesn't want her she'll kill herself. So the wife runs downstairs all excited to take it to police headquarters as proof he didn't kill her.
Saw this when I was 14 at the theater in the fall of 1987 with my mom and older sister. I remember my mom trying to cover my eyes during the sex scenes, lol. Ahh, I miss the 80s and my youth. I was in 9th grade at the time...1987 was a great year for movies and music.
If a someone became like that with me I would have no problem killing her. All fun and games at the start but when people get obssesed it becomes a bore and if they wont let go you have to sort it yourself.

I remember when I was walking toward the theatre to see this movie. The previous showing had just ended. You should have seen the expressions on the faces of the people coming out! Priceless!

Classic movie. I love it. If you have the dvd watch the original ending. In case you don't, in the original ending she kills herself after they get in the fight at her apartment. He gets taken off to jail and the wife listens to the tape she made .Where Glenn says if he doesn't want her she'll kill herself. So the wife runs downstairs all excited to take it to police headquarters as proof he didn't kill her.

Saw this when I was 14 at the theater in the fall of 1987 with my mom and older sister. I remember my mom trying to cover my eyes during the sex scenes, lol. Ahh, I miss the 80s and my youth. I was in 9th grade at the time...1987 was a great year for movies and music.
