I thought Roger Moore was afraid of heights. When he did the climbing scene in FYEO, I thought he was going to fall and die when he got kicked by some guy.
Walken has given great performances, but he could not be more miscast in a role than in the weak 007 adventure(he´s supposed to be Russsian and there is no accent or anything).
This has got to be one of the most exciting pieces of footage I've ever seen in a movie, it was good in the 80's and still brilliant today. A view to a kill is worth watching just for that scene alone
It's the weirdest thing, Christopher Walken was aboard the pleasure yacht Splendour that night Natalie Wood drown. At least that's the gist of it. The LA police report says she was found with two dozen bruises on her body. Mr. Walken should make some kind of a public statement to support Robert Wagner and himself. There is no report of Mr. Walken giving a police statement but he must have been questioned.
Maxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Maxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx HaHaHaHa falls to his death zorin is one of the most amazeing bond villians ever potrayed by the great christopher walken don't make em like this anymore and best bond ever rodger moore
@computermaster Recalling from memory, Zorin was in a way "created" as a genetic experiment during the days of Nazi Germany. After the war had ended the Soviets used him. The "old koot" was the professor/doctor in charge of "creating" him.
Zorin sure laughed whenever he enjoyed something challenging, including trying not to fall to his death. Christopher Walken was genius portraying this role of psychotic pleasure. Kind of like America's role in the world, always "happiest in the saddle".
Damn.. This gives me chills.. Zorin was such a great super villain... His intelligence, wealth and being a psychopath made him such a great villain. He pretty much rivaled Bond.. All of this and this music in the background trully explains why this is my 2nd fav Bond movie after Goldeneye!
@drwhomasterfan because the plot is similar to goldfinger, and moore was too old, and they used many stunt doubles. but the music and the acting of moore, walken and jones saved the movie. i give it a 6/10
You wouldn't survive a fall from the Golden Gate Bridge, especially at the top. You'd hit the water so hard, you'd break every bone in your body. Contrary to popular belief, falling from a great height into a body of water is no different than falling onto a cement sidewalk.
I love the sheer desperation in Zorin's look as he's slipping. Knowing that this is the moment of the end...he just slightly smiles and then slips away. Freaky. just imagine!
Zorin had no stamina if a little drop into water like that killed him. What a wuss...I jumped into a puddle of rain recently, and I survived. What a windbag he really is.
@fanghur The Golden Gate Bridge from the top tower is about 700ft high. It may not look far for Zorin to fall but from that height it would be like hitting concrete. He would have broke his back or neck maybe both on impact. Oh please I hope you don't try it!!
Look up the film The Bridge to see who many people in real life have died by jumping.
@kezadrone Duh, I know the stunt men and actors aren't wearing real dress shoes. How gullible do you think I am? But still, we're supposed to believe (in the context of the film) that they're actually doing battle 700+ feet in the air wearing dress shoes? Ha!
My sister and I always remembered when Zorin couldn't help himself and laughed at the idea of dying before falling to his death. A great moment for a great villain, and a moment that sets Zorin apart. I love that, the score, and the "Max! Max!" line.
Hmm... I assume he died after hitting the water so hard or he died from exhaustion, but wouldn't it be great if he came back in a Bond film with cybernetic parts?
The fight with Max Zorin on the bridge is pure awesome. Although I think Roger Moore hang around way too long than he should have. I would love to see Timothy Dalton and Christopher Walken going at it each other with this scene.
Living in northern California, I always have to laugh when Zorin kidnaps Stacey at his mine in "Silicon Valley" and then in the next shot they're in San Francisco. SF and San Jose are about an hour (or an hour and 15 minutes) away from each other :)
@bobbyhitsbakk009 LOL, actually Zorin *was* a psycho in this film, since he was "created" in a Nazi lab by Dr. Carl Mortner (the old guy who yells "Max!!")
I remember this death was one of the first deaths I ever saw in a movie. The most memorable thing in the movie is the fact that the villain laughs before he dies.
I got to say, this was the best fight in all the james bond films. The music suites the fight scene, the zepplin tied to the bridge, and blows up after Max Zorin falls off. Epic. Best fight ever
The reason Zorin laughs before his death is because he realizes he is losing his grip and is going to fall off the bridge. For a megalomaniac the idea of dying in such a lame way as falling of bridge is absurd, so absurd that he laughs at it the moments before he falls.
by this satge you know zorin really hates bond and he even mocks him when he falls to his death priceless. I just piss myself laughing after watching this scene especially when the other twats die in the airship - so jokes hahahha
What bothered me about this film was that Max Zorin was not of evil incarnate but rather the result of Josef Mengele type experiments. Compare this to Auric Goldfinger who was truly of evil incarnate not by some steroid based experiment but by his own avaricious nature.
Also, the scene where Zorin and his goons kill the workers in the mines was overkill and very disturbing. Tanya Roberts also spent too much time as a damsel in distress screaming "James!" far too often.
Zorin also scared me as a kid. A nazi come to life: Blond hair, good build, piercing blue eyes and a terrifying gaze when he got pissed off. One of the best bond villains of all time.
@carlosperezvidal He was born as a result of Nazi experiements that gave steroids to pregnant women. It resulted in his phenomenal IQ, and of course the fact that he was well and truly psychotic! So he wasn't really a nazi, but he looks like one.
@carlosperezvidal, from what I remember, he was born in Dresden. He was a "super baby" born by Nazi doctors injecting concentration camp inmates with hyperactive steroids to achieve so-called "perfect pure Aryan children."
Most pregnancies failed, but the few that didn't resulted in HIGHLY intelligent and HIGHLY PSYCHOTIC children....one of them being Zorin.
What "aryans" were interned in concentration camps? Those inmates were most likely jews.Other ethnic groups that were being exterminated by the nazis were gypsies.A lot of slave labour from countries occupied by the nazis were interned in concentration camps for workers, many of them worked to death or starved. Some say an additional 5 millions to the 6 million jews that were killed (although they had it by far the worst)
Why would nazis experiment on what they saw as "undesirables"?
@McLarenMercedes, I never said Aryans were interned at the camps. You're right, it was mostly Jews, followed by Gypsies and other "inferior" people. They wouldn't experiment on Aryans because they were perceived to be "perfect" unlike the flawed other races. Such a sick psychology that is still believed to this day by some people...
@Joelomite Perhaps the Nazis were experimenting on non-Aryans to perfect the technology before trying it on Aryans. Using humans as lab rats is what it was.
@Joelomite He's meant to be a French Industrialist, but is a result of nazi experiementation. If he was a nazi, then why would he be f*****g Grace Jones?
@DarkKnightBob1o1, me too!!! I saw it when I was 10 and needed new underwear after the entire movie! Several other parts gave me nightmares, including:
-Escaping underwater car
-Fleeing fan blades underwater
-Elevator/fire escape...Fire in closed spaces always terrified me
@getalifeplznot I kind of wish they would have used that joke in the movie. Still, Everything or Nothing was pretty good, all things considered. Though I still kind of wish Jaws was a little more campy like in the movies.
Great scene... although one wonder why Bond would do all this for that girl. She's more annoying then Jar Jar Binks and that chinese boy in The Temple of Doom were combined
Either the laugh was from being nervous or he was just a complete psycopath and didn't care.

This brilliant scene saved a poor film, perfect score, perfect action, perfect Bond.

Great scene... although one wonder why Bond would do all this for that girl. She's more annoying then Jar Jar Binks and that chinese boy in The Temple of Doom were combined
