This song/band bring back precious memories of the early 80's and a very special person whom I'll never forget. Still remember you and love you Lisa Pace.
I had forgotten about this song. Talk about bringing back memories! The hair, the clothes, the makeup, the dance clubs. It was a great time to be in my 20s!
*sigh* If you didn't experience the 80's first-hand...then it's too hard to explain the awesomeness and the feelings of the time. The music was one of the biggest parts of all of it.
For all the comments on how innocent and upbeat this song is, try listening to the words. It ain't exactly a love song. It seems to me to be a hate song. She'll be happy if she can get away from somebody.
@badintentions2 Actually, the song is a bit deeper than that. What the woman is singing about is depressive person seeking happiness, some of the most inane things in life she thinks could make her happy, she wants to be aloof but is drawn to someone who surfaces her unhappiness. She is suffering from mixed feelings of the happiness and depressiveness.. she wants to run and she wants to stay.
@okiedokies good post. but isn't that how life works at it's heart?
people get married when it isn't human nature to be with the same person (physically) your whole life, people use materialism to also work towards a 'security' that doesn't really exist..not how we think it does anyway.
so it's natural for us to feel pulled in several directions.
if life gets boring take a risk, and even if that 'risk' doesn't work out, it's all moulding you into a better person.
Wonderful song from the happiest days of my childhood, then, my mother gave me a kiss meanwhile i was playing in my own world plenty of trees, fresh grass, lovely and innocent fantasies... nowadays that things doesn't exist :'(. Well, this song bring me back to the warmy, old and nostalgic good times.
I think 97 likes to 0 says it all. I used to listen to music all the time back when this would've come out. I don't remember this at all from the time it came out but it's in my head all of the time now after seeing it once on VH1 Classic. Thanks for uploading this video. I think there's enough great music from before the millennium that it can just be played over & over with so many songs & people can just forget about the future of music because there is no future, just the past...
Great group and great music. They had a serious talent for finding great melodies you could hum all day long. Every time I hear The Strokes, I hear a little bit of Altered Images in their music somewheres. Thanks for posting.
sorry you feel like that but you know in the 80s we had a lot of problems in the uk and you had reagan.i am 53 and seen loads of bands but the 80s were the best.i saw these in the 80s at a nightclub in leeds.you cheer up now
@missravae I was there and you would change you mind if you knew what ti was ilke. Music wise that's different, but it was not the paradise it is made out to be. Then again it is better than the crap in the world now.
yes, I think pop music was more creative in the 80's than now. But, as kurt cobain said, wanting to be someone (or somewhere) else is a waste of who you are. Maybe pop music is not where it's at right now, but then, you could always just go out and make something cool yourself or with your friends
I wish I could travel in time machine and watch Mtv all over again, buy Altered Image albums all over again, and see Altered Images in concert this time around.
What a wonderful treat to see this again after 20-some-odd years! Just as fun as it was the first time I saw it! Thank you so much for posting it! You are certainly putting your free time to great use! Kudos to you and a million thanks!
You have a FANTASTIC post! The video is the clearest I've seen yet of this song, and the sound is perfect.BRAVO! This song brings back a million and one memories of when we would pack onto the dancefloor at The "688" club in Atlanta. This video would be shown on a giant screen in a corner above the floor while we "BOPPED" our asses off to it in the late Summer of 1982 around the same time that "I Ran" was popular. This was at the peak of the New Wave era,and oh how I remember it well. Many thanks!
Thanks for your kind words. I too remember all of the great times we spent enjoying the music and video milestones the '80s gave us. I am a VJ (Video Jockey)at a local club and spend my free time repairing and correcting these jems. The audio has been stripped and replaced on this track. Stop by anytime. Roger

@RRaquello why should it have to be a 'hate' song just because she wants to get away from someone?
getting away from some people is necessary if you can be happy...just like the song says....
