shut up. sure, viagra has multiple uses, but it's mostly used as a drug for erectile dysfunction. i don't know how you think insurance companies work, but.. if they wanted to cover it BECAUSE it "has other uses, too," they would simply demand a doctor's call to ensure them, "yes, the patient is taking it for heart problems." but, it has no such requirement -- just indiscriminate coverage.
and, birth control has other beneficial uses, too.

My health plan will pay for 72 Viagra tabs per month, but for me,a migraine sufferer, I can only get 12 migraine pain tabs per month. I can take 3 tabs per headache. Somehow this doesn't compute. Seems the two should go "hand-in-hand". Just an example of how healthcare favors men over women. I'd like to ask McCain a few questions.

Name one health insurance program that pays for ANY part of the cost of ANY medications that does not ALSO pay any on birth control meds.
The only one that I can think of is Medicare and
I really do not think that women over age 65 need birth control medication.

In principle, the point of insurance is to only charge you the average risk of developing a disorder.
ex)10% chance of getting a disease that costs 1000$ to treat. Everyone pays 100$ into a fund to cover the disease instead of only those who happen to get it paying the full 1000$.
ED is a disease the only some people develop, and Viagra is a treatment for it. Sex is a risk activity that some people choose to do, like cycling. You wouldn't expect insurance companies to buy your bike helmet.
