the scooped notes and vibrato are okay, they just come from or refer to an earlier age of jazz playing as anyone who knows and loves the tradition as a whole knows and recognizes. There's more to jazz then the latest and greatest of today...

This is the classic S.H. quintet: John Bunch on piano, Phil Flanigan on bass, Christ Flory on guitar, Chuck Riggs on drums. Maybe early 80s? John just died in New York City at the age of 88. One of my very favorite pianists.
