  • its best to give them roaches as they are almost pure meat and like no fat at all crickets is 2nd best and superworms etc suck as they are almost only fat and no meat

  • @lurtz8083 : I agree. But it is hard to find a places to get roaches cheaply. :P

  • Well how much do you feed yours since he is an adult?

  • @XxDeAdS1lENcExX :

Well, about 8-12 crickets a day, dusted with supplements, and about a cup of mixed greens. :)

  • Hi, How much do bearded dragons eat? When they're adults, juvis, and babies. Please reply.

  • @XxDeAdS1lENcExX :

Not a huge amount. Kind of hard to define for you.

  • What size is this harness? I have to order one offline and I think my beardie is about the size of yours.

  • @MakeupMaven89 :

I believe this was a size medium.

  • @ReptileGirl16 Great, thank you!

  • Hi, I want a bearded dragon but i dont know if they are a lot of work, are they? and where did you get yours? how old was it? thanks so much!

  • @TheChancelover :

They are quite a bit of work. Not a ton, but definitely time consuming. I got mine from a locally owned Pet shop, it was 2 years old when I got it. :) I would suggest doing some throughout research before you invest any money in a bearded dragon.

  • Hey where did you get your leash?

  • @Nottheaveragejoe3 : Petsmart. :D

  • it's ok if they have spiders, they eat them in the wild all the time, all the books i've read say spiders are ok. I give mine spiders as a treat sometimes, she loves them.

  • hehe when you touched his neck he gave you that look like " wtf you think your doing touching me" Hes so calm too hehe Very cute!

  • @DarkDyami :

Thanks! That's one thing I really like about beardies, they're very interactive. :)

  • your feet are ghostly! :|

  • @Theo94Fee :

ROFL. Yep! All of me is that way. I'm super pale. :)

  • I'm getting one sunday, do you keep the tank light(s) on at night during the winter

  • @whyyoureadingthis12 :

No, just the ceramic heat emitter.

  • @whyyoureadingthis12 u do not need to keep them on, make sure the temperature stays above 70 degrees F

  • is there a way i can buy the pet and the supplies in a 250 budget

  • @TheWebkinzlover365 :

You may be able to get the habitat and set up with $250, but I don't know how you'd afford the lizard as well with that amount. Shop around, buy on clearance for your supplies and you may be able to.

  • I've been starting to introduce my beardie to outside since it is summer and so far he feels very exposed and even takes the (defensive black beard, puffed up position )when I move too quickly towards him while we are outside, but hopefully I will be able to get him used to it.

  • @VioletRaynne :

Mine did the same for quite a while. Always move very slowly and stay close to the ground. :)

  • Holy crap, your dragon looks like my old one Mocha!

  • thanx you are very helpful :)

  • wish i could. they are the closest and they're an hour away.

  • @bmde :

Hmmm. well if you'd ever just like to talk to an awesome herp vet on the phone for advice, send me a message and I'll give you minds number, he's awesome and he'd be more than willing to give any advice he could via telephone.

  • i figured as much. i asked the vet about the humidity and he said no because they are used to the humidity bouncing all around witch goes against everything iv read. he was also very jumpy and quick to hide in his tank even though he was used to me. sadly he was only a year old when he died. i have a new one in the same tank and i have no problems with the humidity. kinda strange. i think hes about 6 months old. his name is Lou and he eats everything including greens witch is a plus.

  • @bmde :

Glad the new one is doing better. I'd find yourself a new vet if you can. :)

  • yeah then you get people attacking you witch is what youtube seems to be notorious for lately. anyway, i have enjoyed watching you're videos since iv found them. quick question. i had a beardie who died on May 31 from a lower respiratory infection. after 19 days and 3 trips to the vet, the vet could not figure out how he might have gotten it. the only thing i can think of was the humidity was always randomly going in to the tropical end. any thoughts?

  • @bmde :

Oh yeah! Been cussed out many a time. :P

Humidity has a lot to do with it, cleanliness as well. A clean tank lessens the chance of getting ill. There are of course, just as with humans, germs that can cause infection. Who knows. But they definitely prefer and thrive in arid, desert humidity levels best. :)

  • this is a very informative video. you have to be on you're toes when they are out side. there are bugs everywhere and beardies have such good eye sight. i never even thought about how they would react to a plane. it makes sense though. now i thought you weren't supposed to grab them by the tail? you'res seemed to be relaxed when you did it.

  • @bmde :

    Indeed you do.

From the middle of the tail to the tip is an unsafe place to grab, as it can injure the tail. However, the upper part or base of the tail is thick and muscly, so as long as you aren't pulling on it (say if the dragon had a hold of something) it will not hurt them. Though I rarely explain this to people, I don't want someone misunderstanding and hurting their beardie. :)

  • how old is your beardy? s/he is adorable!

  • @beccapooley : My vet told me he's about 2 1/2 years old. :)

  • june bugs are great as well i feed them june bugs all the time and they love them

  • @ReptileGirl16 So in human years how old

Do u suppose a five year old bearded dragon would

    Be? 14?????

  • @owlninja993 :

If it lived to 15 years old, you'd have 10 more years with it. But of course, every animal is completely different.

  • @owlninja993 :

No, it would be five. There are no "dragon years". They live to the age of- roughly- 15 years by the calendar.

  • what size is your beardie's harnass? cuz i went to petco yesterday and they only had small :P

  • @owlninja993 :

    I believe it was a medium. :)

  • @ReptileGirl16 cool! Cuz I think Cindy might

Need a medium to cuz the small didn't fit her.

She's only 5 years old will she grow more?

  • @owlninja993 :

At 5 years she's completely full grown. They're full grown at about, oh, one or two years. :)

  • @ReptileGirl16 oh cool, thank you! I herd they

Live to be at least 20, is that true?

  • I don't mean to spoil the video but you shouldn't walk your bearded dragon on a leash.

    Reasons:

    A) bearded dragon could easily get stepped on

    B) could risk getting choked by the leash or hurt itself with the leash.

    C) if u get a leash for a bearded dragon you can't expect it to just walk. They walk when they want to walk. Meaning THEY ARE NOT DOGS.

    D) the bearded dragon could possibly slip out if the leash, run into the streets and become bearded dragon rode kill.

    F) you could also risk your

  • @owlninja993 :

    A) Thats why you're carful and WATCH your own feet. Staying in your yard, not going to a park.

    B) Not with the specially made reptile leash sold by T-Rex. It's a harness and is very safe.

    C) Clearly. You aren't "walking" it, your allowing it to get natural sunlight. It's a basking trip.

    D) Again, impossible with the leash from T-rex.

    F) Risk my what?

My reptile vet is the one who told me to do this and it improved his health amazingly!

  • @ReptileGirl16

    k, sorry. 0___0

  • @owlninja993 :

    No worries! :D

  • @ReptileGirl16 YAAAAY! XD

  • They perfer 70. You should only take them out when its in the 80's or 90's

  • @chrisgarelli :

In my neck of the woods, it rarely gets into the 80's except for during the peak of Summer. So, I have to make due with what I've got. :)

  • @guppylover28 If you have a baby beardie they should eat protein (insects) 2-3 times a day at 10 minute intervals as much as they can eat. Mealies arent the best for beardies because they offer little nutritional value and the chitin (shell) is difficult to digest. I suggest crickets, reptiworms dubia roaches and if hes over 16 inches superworm which look like giant mealworms. If you go to OgleRpets you can get very fashionable leashes for a great price.

  • @SoleSky :

I agree! :D Thanks SoleSky! :) Always good to have help answering questions!

  • @ReptileGirl16 Oh Thank you, beautiful beardie you have there. :)

  • @SoleSky :

    Thanks! :)

  • @guppylover28 :

Yeah, than the info I gave you applies to him quite well.

  • @guppylover28 :

Well, to answer the first two I need the age of your beardie. Roughly you feed a bearded dragon veggies every day (just once a day) and crickets every other day. Meal worms are a treat and should be fed only about twice a week. Usually about 4 or 5 at a time.

The harness I purchased at Petsmart from the brand called "T-Rex", you can get them at Petco. as well.

  • Hi i gotta question I wont to buy Chinese water dragon but Bearded dragon looks so cool who do you recommend can I take Chinese water dragon on the garden like you?

BTW you have huge garden !

  • @Ogureks :

Personally, I find bearded dragons to be much friendlier and more easy-going. I like them better. You could take a water dragon outdoors, but they are much more hyper and high-strung. Beardeds are also easier to care for. But it's ultimately your choice.

haha, thanks! My two dogs love it! :D

  • but can u make an outside cage? so that u can like go away alittle?

  • @necronji :

Yes, but as to how to build one I don't know. I never did.

  • @PSTube1000 :

Wow, now that's what I call a blessing! Glad he didn't run away for good!

  • @moneyishappiness :

    To reply to both comments:

Personally I think beardies are the best. But get what you like, that's the most important thing. :)

  • Hi my bearded has been having runny stool should I be worried or is this normal?

  • @mekejam :

That would depend on how long it's been happening. If only for two or three days, nah. But if it goes on for 5 or more days I'd take him/her to a reptile vet an have him/her tested for internal parasites.

  • At 0.43 hes like did u just touch my beard haha

  • my berded dragon just licks everything he is just over 1 year old and when i take him out side im afraid that he will lick something and get ill. is this normal and will he grow out of it ?

  • @21trial21 :

No, that is how they explore their world. They do it their entire lives.

Just be sure there are no harsh chemicals in the area you take him and he'll be fine!

  • @ReptileGirl16 cool thanks

  • @legoguy47 Yeah i live in miami..i think its fine just be carefull because it dosent rain in the desert and it rains EVERYDAY here!

  • @legoguy47 :

For sure! Just be sure that they can get into the shade if that want. (And say with them) If they start gaping and run into the shade, bring them in and let them cool down. :)

  • It would be cool to see him move around. Does he like to just roam the yard? i want to do this with my beardie once i get the harness and its funny im getting the same one as you.

  • @skuller496 :

He often times just sits there and looks at the sky. (Looking for birds of prey.) I have to encourage him to move. But, when he does get going (which can take up to 20-30 minutes) he nearly always goes "poo". He does enjoy going outside though, particularly in the sun, he puffs his back really wide and tilts it toward the sun.

Neat, I had to trim my harness a bit, the part that goes under his neck was was to long and was pushing on his beard to much. :P

  • what size leash should i buy for my crested gecko?

  • @eagglesfan21 :

Crested geckos cannot be harnessed because of their fragile skin and should never be taken outdoors. :) Handle your gecko inside if you want it to get some exercise.

  • cant they get very sick if there outside like that? just wondering...

  • @catnip1171 :

Mine never has. I mean, you wouldn't want them out for long periods of time, but otherwise they love it. My vet is the one who recommended I do that. :)

  • what would the beardie do if u gave it a little tug or suminc!!ld it startto run like a dog??? Thnx xxxxxxxxxxxx

  • @thecharliejinks :

Nah, he just walks around a bit. hehe

  • thanks!

  • what size harness did you have to buy?

  • @kassielovesmike :

I believe it was the medium size, and I had to trim it a bit to keep it from bothering his beard. :)

  • no, more like 80 and higher, i waited till it was 85 to take him out, if its really sunny then 70's will be ok

  • @BlackSkitBall :

They are fine at 65f as long as they're only out for about 20 mins. @ 70f they can be out for 30 mins and at 75f or higher they can be out for an hour or so. Trust me, I've researched this and tested it with my dragon. He loves it. :)

  • great vid, very cute :)
