@truewoman247 To like or dislike something is relative, but when I like a hairstyle...I like. When, I don't like it...I don't like it. It would not necessarily make it perfect. Something could be perfect in every detail but one may not like it. :)

You have a great sense of humor :-) My husband got so irritated with me because I was laughing so hard watching this. I really needed a great laugh though. I can imagine myself trying styles and the styles not turning out good once I'm 100% natural because I've done it many times before with my relaxed hair. I can totally relate. It's great that you made a video about it because I feel like I look so bad when my hair is messed up, no one can see me that way.
@brit04ney Honey, bad hair days are normal...but for some reason some of the feedback I've gotten would suggest that it's not. I'm not one to have a bunch of skills with doing doing hair, but I would try it out anyway. Over the past 5 years, I've figured out a lot of styles BUT it was rough when I first went natural. Having had a relaxer for YEARS, the only thing I new how to do was wrap my hair! So going natural was a challenge. I can, did, and still laugh at the creations. Bless up.

my hair is about 4inches long i washed it and slicked it back with some gel and bought me a afro drawstring ponytail and it came out fabulous i get compliments all the time because people think its my hair lol and i moisturize with cantu leave in conditioner and coconut oil
lol, I too have had less than stellar results with some styles, My 1st attempt at curl defining lookeed like a jeri curl helmet, not cute! I did the BC a month ago. I have finnally started getting results I like. Its good to see that I'm not the only one!

I loved it. It gave me something to look forward to once I complete my transition process. I surely have bad hair days when I had a perm and have dealt with them during my transitioning time now. But your video did only provide a small comic release, but it showed me that it's okay to mess up a hair style and that it will not always come out so perfect. As I see from all the videos on youtube. :-) Thank You Again for sharing.

thats exactly why in NOT doing the B/C lol. try to find better moisturizers like raw shea butter. 6 months AND still counting of transitioning! I dont know what i would do with short big cut hair i can barley style my own slh lol

@sugarfreenow Don't be scared sis. There are plenty of styles that work, just not these. It's funny now that I look back at it. I still stayed with it, however. If you stay natural, you'll have the change to rock many different styles. Bless up!!
Hi Whoissugar. I wanted to tell you that some of your styles I really liked! Yea some didnt really work but my favorites were with the bamboo twist (the one with u in the black shirt and it was in a video) also like the one, with you (I dnt remember the name but u had on blue bar bell earrings) So from my opinion, not all of them were bad!! While I had to laugh, I TOTALLY understand what you mean. My attempts at some of those hairstyles are quite laughable. I've since learned NOT to experiment when I have to go to work the next day. But like you, I say bump, it, deal with it! Great post!

LOL I know the feeling. Its hard trying to find styles and age appropriate styles with natural hair. Especially when you are a new natural. I go to work some days as is SMDH and dare people to say something. I think my coworkers know by now that Im experimenting ha!

@ColdasIcePrincezz Well, I would say not to perm it. There was a reason why you went natural and I would keep that in mind. Your hair might be coming out for many reasons. It could be an internal or an external reason. Braids are wonderfull and twists are too. What things have you tried? Stay encouraged. Peace and light sis.
@ColdasIcePrincezz maybe you should research and invest in a keratin treatment ($150 and up depending on length/texture). It supposedly loosens up the curl, makes it easier to blowdry and style, and acts like a protective barrier on the hair.
@ColdasIcePrincezz Maybe your hair is coming out because your not giving it enough moisture! I would say moisturize you hair is smaller section to make sure you get every part of the hair! Make sure you seal in that moisture with some olive or coconut oil or w/e oil you choose! I would also get a good trim to prevent so much breakage! Its hot right now so protective styling is also a good option whether its buns, twist, braids or some weave! just make sure to moisturize that hair to DEATH..LOL!
It seems like pretty much no styles worked for you...which is how I feel daily. Its so annoying and I don't have low self esteem. I love my hair texture...but the styles that everybody just raves about end up looking a hot mess on me, I do not know for the life of me why all I can do is a boring wash and go....which really is more like a wash and gel and manipulate and add more water and add curl activator and manipulate some more and rub more gel in and let it dry and then pull it out and go
@InThoseGenes7 Positive energy to you honey. There are a lot of women who feel this way and they end up relaxing thier hair. :( Hang in there honey. I'm not sure how long your hair is...perhaps more length will bring you more workable options. There are always braids!!

@Sassymarkrep I also understand. My hair is 4b and not very thick so I have issues. But I finally figured that if I do a roller set on my hair and then do banto knots I can get a cute style. Also, the flat-twist out is a nice easy style to maintain. Stay encouraged!

@corshatal Practice makes perfect...in most cases. There are still styles that I can not do (cornrows), but that it ok. There are plenty that I can do that look wondeful to me. Keep at it and don't give up sis. Positive energy to you.

Thanks for this video. I just big chopped almost 3 weeks ago and feel the same way. I had done A LOT of research and tried to watch every natural hair you tube video before doing so. Now that I am completely natural I cannot get my hairstyles to work. My twists have funky shapes, etc. The divas on here make it look so easy. Now I know I'm not alone ;)

I have had natural hair for two years now. and my hair is a hot mess. It's comeing out and I'm about ready to give up and get a perm. any advice?

@ColdasIcePrincezz Well, I would say not to perm it. There was a reason why you went natural and I would keep that in mind. Your hair might be coming out for many reasons. It could be an internal or an external reason. Braids are wonderfull and twists are too. What things have you tried? Stay encouraged. Peace and light sis.

@ColdasIcePrincezz maybe you should research and invest in a keratin treatment ($150 and up depending on length/texture). It supposedly loosens up the curl, makes it easier to blowdry and style, and acts like a protective barrier on the hair.

@ColdasIcePrincezz Maybe your hair is coming out because your not giving it enough moisture! I would say moisturize you hair is smaller section to make sure you get every part of the hair! Make sure you seal in that moisture with some olive or coconut oil or w/e oil you choose! I would also get a good trim to prevent so much breakage! Its hot right now so protective styling is also a good option whether its buns, twist, braids or some weave! just make sure to moisturize that hair to DEATH..LOL!

It seems like pretty much no styles worked for you...which is how I feel daily. Its so annoying and I don't have low self esteem. I love my hair texture...but the styles that everybody just raves about end up looking a hot mess on me, I do not know for the life of me why all I can do is a boring wash and go....which really is more like a wash and gel and manipulate and add more water and add curl activator and manipulate some more and rub more gel in and let it dry and then pull it out and go

@Sassymarkrep I also understand. My hair is 4b and not very thick so I have issues. But I finally figured that if I do a roller set on my hair and then do banto knots I can get a cute style. Also, the flat-twist out is a nice easy style to maintain. Stay encouraged!

Omg I love this video! I'm forever on YouTube watching videos, and trying new things on my head and they never turn out right. I've been natural for 6 yrs and went frm a fade to locs to twist and everything in btwn. To wrap thngs up, I'm glad someone else shares my pain and was brave enuff to post a video.

LoL! I feel this way almost every time I do my hair, but it's getting better. I just keep practicing and ignoring my husband's pleas for the beauty shop. I want to learn how to do my hair myself! Thanks for this video. I just big chopped almost 3 weeks ago and feel the same way. I had done A LOT of research and tried to watch every natural hair you tube video before doing so. Now that I am completely natural I cannot get my hairstyles to work. My twists have funky shapes, etc. The divas on here make it look so easy. Now I know I'm not alone ;)
