This is just amazing! I'm trying to do my own mashup of songs I like but I'm finding it really hard! When you say learn chords? What do you mean? Should I just sit down and learn chords really thoroughly and will that help me become better?

Did you learn to freestyle starting with Jazz Piano? Trying to learn piano transitioning from violin and am really hoping I can learn to improv.

@SpiXes808 Sorry such a late response! I didn't see this comment! Jazz piano is still something I am trying to learn. I actually started freestyling when I had a desire to play sounds that were current and on the radio. The easiest thing I can recommend is to learn chords :D Once you know chords, you can play anything :D

Thank you so much! You are too sweet :) I took lessons for 6 years BEFORE highschool...so some time ago, haha. I always wanted to play modern music though--so even though it's difficult for me to read sheet music now, I am fortunate that I can hear a song and replicate it in its simplest form (like the basic chords--nothing extremely fancy, haha).

You should totally learn! Piano helped me transition faster into learning guitar and violin too :D There is nothing quite like the feeling of hearing a song you like and then being able to play it--go for it!! :D

You're too sweet, it starts by really experimenting with a song you are really dedicated to learn and figuring out the chords. Once you do that, you can play almost any song!
