My male budgie Angel loves me and I'm his most interesting toy (lol) but he goes NUTS for bells! The only toys I ever buy for him are ones with bells incorporated into them. He got caught by my cat last year and the vet thought he wouldn't last the night but thanks to me reading to him (he looves my voice), lots of lettuce and millet spray, a little hospital cage separate from his big cage with his wife (cute!), and a BELL, he LIVES!!!
I got that bell today from Petco for just $2. It was the FIRST toy I've seen my parakeet (only had her 11 days) respond to. She tapped it once, made it ding, and hasn't paid attention to it since. Maybe she's too new.
@WeeWeiners I got my parakeet a bell from Petsmart (maybe $3) it hangs down low and has like wood blocks and things she can grasp onto and play on. Now that she's comfortable, she loves to grab the bell and shake it around like crazy.
Wait,I think that budgie is female.
