That song was a parody of an article in the L.A. Times in which a columnist--who was black, btw--invoked the term "Magic Negro". The columnist explained that the term is a referrence to an old Hollywood plot device about a heroic black character who makes no reference to race or racial strife. The POINT of the piece was that, like the "Magic Negros" of old films, Obama "assuages white guilt" by making it "safe" to root for him. Listen to the song's lyrics, and understand.
