As much as I hate WCW's overly generic pro wrestlers and their ability as well as the overplayed and overused storlines, they could sure as hell put on a show
On Saturday night where I lived, Shotgun Saturday Night would be on at 10:00, WCW Worldwide at 11:00, WCW Pro at midnight, American Gladiators at !:00, and International Gladiators at 2:00. Those were the days!
i can remember watching two different wcw shows on saturday that were on at the same time but on two different channels i remember seeing sting wrestle somebody on one channel and then on the other channel sting would wrestle somebody else and this would occur at the same time i thought to myself how is this possible not knowing that these shows were taped in advance i thought all these shows were live events
@slipknot789able you are rembering 1991 they use to give wcw pro on tbs at 9.30 and the same they were giving WCW new york over here where i live at, in chicago wcw new york was named something WGN America, i rember all this like it was yesterday
@bkstyle82 Actually they didn't. But they did air what was then NWA Worldwide during the 1987-88 season, then didn't air WCW for two years before they picked up Pro.
@johnissoevil Thanks a million. Power Hr was purely a TBS thing. I remember watching it but I also remember watching a program on 11 at 9am before. Thanks for reminding me that it was NWA world wide. I vaguely remember the theme song(I was bout 5 years old). Hey I didn't look at your page but I can assume that you live or used to live in the ny tri state area.
@bkstyle82 Yeah, I lived in Central Jersey. Caught my first glimpse of wrestling when I accidentally came across a WWF show on WKBS 48 (RIP) out of Philly in 1982.
One thing I miss about WCW, the cheap product placement: The Valvoline ads on the ring posts.
And it was never WCW Halloween Havoc, it was Slim Jim's Halloween Havoc as well as stopping midway through commentary to get a drink of Surge. On camera with the label out. I miss Surge.
Actually, WCW Worldwide had been on the air since 1975; it was the longest-running, uninterrupted weekly syndicated program in television history!
KFXF here in Fairbanks carried it in '93 (dunno what time) after that shitty "Countdown at the Neon Armadillo" show replaced my beloved "WWF Superstars" over on KTVF.
Oh yeah...at one point in the mid-90s, WCW syndicated programming including Worldwide were burning up the ratings...right up alongside mainstays "Wheel of Fortune", "Jeopardy", "Oprah Winfrey", and "Entertainment Tonight"!!!!
Now why would someone give me a thumbs down for saying I don't ever remember this "WorldWide" show they had? All I remember them having was Nitro, Saturday Night, and (when it started in Jan 98) Thunder.
Chris Jericho had the gayest theme song in wrestling history even more than Owen Hart's and Linda Mcmahon

Didn't World Wide move to WWOR-TV by this point? I know it was around this timeframe.
johnissoevil 1 year ago
@johnissoevil I think so. If I remember correctly, it used to air on WCBS(ch.2 here in NYC) and then moved to wwor ch.9
bkstyle82 1 year ago
@bkstyle82 You're right, WCW Pro New York actually started on WPIX, then moved to WCBS in 91 for a few weeks before being replaced by World Wide
johnissoevil 1 year ago
@johnissoevil Hey..I need to check this with you. Prior to Pro on WPIX(ch11) didn't PIX have the Power Hr at 9am??

here in the Ozarks we got WCW Worldwide on our Fox affiliate Saturday afternoons, and ECW came on the former WB affiliate around midnight or 1 AM.
