  • Can I use CloneZilla to clone my Win XP Pro HD in my ThinkPad T23, then restore that Image to my BootCamp partition on my MacBook?

    Thank you.

  • @ibabaloo no you cant

  • at around 6:51, how big was the finished image file? I'm trying to backup a 151gb partition which has a windows installation of 37gb, the last time I tried to backup (onto the same partition) it said there wasn't enough space, I assumed I would only need around 37gb because that's the size of the windows installation. Does backup the whole partition?

  • having trouble restoring an image of Win7 taken from a 500GB drive to a 64GB Solid State Drive.

  • @DCUPtoejuice from a big drive to a smaller one? Of course you will have problems

  • how to start clonezilla?

  • How do i clone a hard drive

  • @rhccat2 practically the same thing. You can use the disk to disk or disk to image method.

  • if you are restoring an image of an entire disk to another new disk, there should not be issue. Restoring writes all information including ntfs information. Are you having any issues? You might want to go to clonezilla support for quicker support and resolution

  • Can someone tell me how to restore an image to a brand new hard drive that is not formatted? Is there a way to create partitions and format to NTFS within Clonezilla? Also do you need to mark the partition where the image is being restored to as as "active" after restoring? Please let me know! Thanks!

  • very hard to see..

  • This is the video I always come back to when I use clonezilla, since I only use it about once a year I seem to need a refresher and this video is the best. Thank you namvijay, great work.

  • @mxmastermitch thanks!

  • hey how do you copy the har drive on to a new one

  • @dmnsouth21 select the disk to disk option

  • Hi, I'm setting up similar thing but my Virtualbox hang at some point and give errors : [11.702208] intel8x0_measure_ac97_clock: measured 60130 usecs (18425 samples) [11.703807] intel8x0: measured clock 306419 rejected [12.072239] intel8x0_measure_ac97_clock: measured 60209 usecs (17575 samples) [12.073831] intel8x0: measured clock 291899 rejected [12.075194] intel8x0: clocking to 48000 I have tried to disable the AC97 sound device but it still hang but with different errors. Any Idea? TQ.
  • @maxchock what are exactly trying to do? Were you trying to clone your existing virtual drive?

You might be better off asking in tech forums as I am not sure what the error exactly means. Sorry

  • Can someone help me with this issue? I am unable to find the iso anywhere in the rar files to burn it to cd,,, thanks

  • @c1cter if you need to burn to CD, download the iso file.

On the download page click Download stable releases, then click on the 1.2.6-40. You should probably download the iso file that ends with "-i686.iso".

  • @namvijay HI Vijay,,, this is the one I found on the site,, sorry for the confusion,,,

    Download clonezilla-live-20101223-maverick.iso (139.5 MB)

  • Thanks for tuturoial. I was afraid of using Clonezilla. Now I'll go try it

  • can it do Partition to Solid State Drive?

  • @Acellio I believe it would as it is still a hard disk.

  • Hi, nice tutorial... is it work on used hardisk??

  • @z9w2zbd do you mean the target disk already contains data?

If you are using disk to disk cloning, the target disks data will be erased. If you use disk to image option, there will be a file created in your target disk. All data in the target disk will remain intact

  • Hi, nice video tutorial... is it work on used hardisk?

  • Very nice tutorial - set me up nicely for imaging my disk. Thank you :)

  • hi, can you please tell is this software commercially free?

  • @noumman It is open source and available for free. Please check their website or contact them if you need any other details.

  • Great tutorial : ]

I'm in the process of doing this myself.

    this walk-through was really helpful

  • When you are cloning let it split to manageable chunks. Look for the option to split file and let it split to an amount smaller than a CD/DVD size.

You cant burn directly to CD from clonezilla itself. You will still need another drive to keep the contents. After which you burn the chunks into CD/DVD.

Hope you get what I mean.

  • Thanks for the help, but can you please tell me how i can copy my hard drive to a Cd ,Thank you
