If I have an NTSC iso for example zool2 NTSC once I have burned it to a cd will it play in the cd32 even if it means using the secret bios menu (plug in an amiga mouse in port 2, hold down both buttons and turn the console on)
@thedarkdragon735 I can't see why it wouldn't work as the Amiga and CD32 were both region free. The only problem I know of is the US Amiga's were made to work with NTSC and lost the PAL ability. So it should work just fine.
@Lorfarius and ive heard it plays regular amiga 500-1200 games if you plugged in a floppy. is thus true (only asking because ive just got one from ebay, cant wait for that parcel :P)
@thedarkdragon735 It can but only if you have a special device to plug into the back. Not worth it though as they tend to be about £120 because they are so rare.
Nice video I have been looking at getting either a Atari Jaguar, 3DO or a Amiga CD32 in your opinion which one do you think I should get first. I collect vintage game systems. I already have a Atari 7800,SNES,Neo Geo Aes, Sega Dreamcast, Atari lynx and a Neo Geo pocket color. How hard is it to find games for the CD32 in the USA.
CD32 - So few games ported for this and all from the Amiga computers. If you want to play the good ones you are best getting your hands on a 200+ games compilation disc but even then I can't highly recommend the system. Not much for it.
Jaguar - This system is pretty woeful, the games are all over priced poor ports and theres literally 1 or 2 decent games so another I'd say avoid.
3DO - This gets a lot of bad press but I actually love mine. There's a fairly decent amount of good games (like Need for Speed, Star Control 2 which is a must).
So ou of the 3 I'd go for the 3DO as it's more fun than the others. You don't seem to mention a Megadrive in your list and I think that's a necessity besides a SNES :)
Thank you for the quick response. I have gotten the list down to the CD32 and the 3DO. Most likely the 3DO. Also I now have a Sega Nomad so I now have that covered. Thank you for your time.
Another great vid. I've never come across a CD32 myself which I'd always assumed was just the console version of the 1200. I had a 500 then a couple of 1200's. A mate and I were once at some dude's house who owned a CDTV. Does anybody bother with those anymore, LOL?
I do have the A1200 version of Frontier (on FD) but I'm quite eager to see what the CD32 one is like especially as all the controls were transferred to that pad.
Awesome stuff. I actually own the original of Alien Breed Tower Assault. I won't go into detail here, but for your information, there are indepth articles on the Internet that will help resolve your use of CDr with the CD32. Your other video referenced comparison to the a1200; specification similarities are achieved with the use of expansions as you rightly mentioned below. Good luck and have fun!
Yep. Just been playing Ultimate Super Skidmarks about 5 minutes ago :) Looking into the system a bit more seems you need an SX-1 or SX-32 unit in order to add extras like HD's, FD etc
I was quite lucky to find one and for the seller to accept the offer. I'd recommend you pick up an Amiga 1200 if you fancy playing the games as pretty much everything on the CD32 was ported from there and are almost identical. Plus it's probably much easier and cheaper to find one.
I was hoping to get a couple of gameplya vids done as well but the Amiga has taken up all of my time. Hopefully get more up tomorrow :)
The great thing with the channel is that I always enjoy just making the actual vids. Even with the bad games I know its not just me playing and there's other folks to share whats happening.
Me too :) The biggest I have on my list is Frontier Elite 2. Hoping to get this with a manual as its meant to be a fantastic port that runs entirely with a pad.
And mine :) Spent aaggeess actually getting running. Not sure if you could see the back of the desk from the vid but you wouldn't believe how long I spent clambering on the floor, climbing over wires etc in my cast trying to get it working. Quite the acheivement :)
Btw I live in a pal region

@UKRetroGames Didn't realise the burning speed had much of an effect but I'll keep it in mind.

Do Shadow Fighter, that was the best AMIGA fighting game by far.
Maybe do Shaq-Fu and Rise of the Robots for a What The Fuck.

I dont even think the CDTV received that much i nthe way of software though sadly I dont know much about it.

You know on the CD32's pad, the D-Pad is taped on, Commodore had a change of mind over the design at the last moment and taped over another.
But I think I may have Alien Breed.
I also got Akira recently took me years to track the bugger down. Ended up begging some Australian guy's one that he put on his website.
ScrewAttackEurope 2 years ago
Taped? LoL good old Commodore build quality.
Lorfarius 2 years ago
Seriously, it's just a bit of double sided tape holding it on!
You can prise it off with a fingernail if you want to see what the original design was, it's east to put back.
ScrewAttackEurope 2 years ago
Oh, the CD32 pad has six buttons, 4 face and 2 triggers, 7 if you count the start button.
I believe if you plug a mouse into the CD32 as well you can bring up a secret bios screen.

oOo It sounds like a cat purring when it loads!
Youi really should pick up beneath a steel sky, awesome point and click adventure game!

I've sorted it now :) Seems the copy I made was using something run through WHDload or similar which was messing things up.

Sensible Soccer- classic!
I could hear the CD drive screech; "No Lorf- turn it off first" I was thinking LOL :-)
ianwilson1978 2 years ago
I was a bit worried about that drive earlier. Ended up running a CD lens cleaner through it for about 30 minutes. The thing is gleaming inside now!

Good stuff! Btw- I have a mate who thinks he may have a CD32 in his loft, if he does its mine FOC! Fingers crossed! :-)

First time I see the Amiga CD32. Not a bad looking console. Also nice game that Sensible soccer - the players even have shadows. :)

Sensi is a fantastic game. If you have a 360 then I'd recommend trying the demo on Xbox Live as they rereleased it.

I've still got Sensi for my SNES. Along with Mario Kart it's the best drunk multiplayer game ever!

I gave it some thought but my biggest worry is just how it would be a nightmare without a mouse?

I thought that was slow for a CD-based game. :P Still, I hope you end up finding more decent originals in the future...
