  • Fantastic spine tingling live interview with Coltrane. Wow. Thanks. Celebrating the life of the master today.

  • most people from the period would say the same of Miles.

  • Productivity...going...down...

  • miles said, he said coltrane was a greedy motherfucker, because he wouldn't share a big bottle of heroin with miles..lol..but most genius's are greedy..

  • Does anyone know the name of the song playing in the background of this interview? I've been trying to find it for some time. Thanks.

  • @spacely02

It's "Tunji" from "Coltrane" (1962), recorded 2 years after the interview. Great record!

  • Incredible. To think that the greatest jazz legend of all time still wasn't satisfied. He still had things to try, things to discover. Imagine what we could have learned from him had he not left us so young.

  • To think that the greatest jazz legend of all time had so many things he felt he couldn't do yet and so many things he still hoped to try and explore. I can't imagine the things we could have heard from him had he not left us at such a young age.

  • what''s that tune in the background?

  • thank you for posting this!!

  • I've revered Coltrane for years, but this is the first time I have heard his voice, outside of "A Love Supreme." Sounds like he was a humble soul.

  • its cool to hear the greats talking bout there influences, you think these cats like coltrane came from out of nowhere but he go lineage

  • He sounds exactly like I thought he would. Too bad the questions were so banal (not merely abrupt). Thank You. L

  • like always... the interviewer is a prick

  • "I have seen God and I have seen ungodly"-John Coltrane

  • such a gracious, humble soul.

very inspiring to hear him speak even without his horn.

  • was a spirit.

  • FANTASTIC. So great to hear the man speak. Never heard his speaking voice before.

  • @dutreaux
