I don't think she can completely relate to what MJ went through. MJ had a bigger struggle because he was an African-American male in the business. In the sense of the media ruining lives, yes. I watched her recently and the passion is nearly gone. She doesn't enjoy it anymore. If she was given a longer break than she took before, perhaps that will bring her back full force. I don't want to see her suffer & I'm disappointed she let others make her feel that way.

I grew up with Britney, so I know the impact she made in the pop industry. You must understand that some of us who listened to her from the start are disappointed with what she is doing now. She needs to readjust her life and get away from the media for the time being. Otherwise, she'll have an early demise.
If you really have to compare what's out there today to what you grew up with, you are only being biased. Of course you're going to love what you used to hear. And unless you are psychic, be open minded and watch how these artists evolved like Britney has.

I actually like the new stuff more. the old stuff is girlly and gaudy. the new stuff is like "I'm a caged freak and I don't care what you think" (in my opinion a much more genuine and interesting image)
