  • We had the best fucking crowds then man! We showed up ready to rock! This crowd is insane!

  • what is this song called?

  • rockin' in the free world, says so at the beginning

  • ...and 'den...Radiohead snippet.

  • my god..what a cover!!!

  • Comment removed

  • they frequently play it together with the legend himself who wrote the song: Neil Young

  • Pearl Jam is amazing!!!!!

  • Fuck man, i would kill to get laid with Eddie!

Best performance ever, i can just imagine being there!

  • "get laid with Eddie",

what an odd thing to say.

  • @Terrorizzzm haha who said that? was it a comment or in the video?

  • @AIC2374

haha, I have no idea. Posted that a year ago and I can't remember why.

  • @Terrorizzzm hahaha

  • yepp.

  • yup

  • fucking ace!

  • awesome

  • io non ho più parole per descrivere i pearl jam!!!! mitici!!!!

  • i like the structure of this cover better than the original version, it flows better, they dont play a chorus after the first verse, and the dont play the a minor interlude of the choruses, its much better

  • TrentJD, about your comment on "how bands today just copy bands they idolized" ...

Well actually the grunge bands were tired of flamboyant hair metal and they wanted to bring back good music. This was in the 70's when bands like zeppelin, black sabbath used heavy riffs while being inspired by the raw energy of punk and they wanted to bring that back so they tryed to copy them pretty much but came out with something different.

  • I watched this live on Dutch TV in '92 and it was monumental show. Years later I read an interview from Eddie Vedder and he said this was one of most important moments his band ever experienced. It was the 1st time that they played in front 60,000 people. He still considers it one of the best shows PJ has ever played.

  • I love this video so much. i live in the netherlands. unfortunaly i was born to late:p in 92 i was 4 years old

  • ik was 1 xD

  • wat festival do ne of u know that rocks as ahrd as that or any of the festivals b4 1994<<<thats when rock died. but like g-bus, ther must b a resurection

  • I didn't call them a carefree band. I said that I felt a carefree vibe from the performance because of the crowd. And you disagree but then make the same point I did...Realize what you're reading.

  • Everbody (In America at least) just seems so damn depressed these days. It seems to have affected the music we hear now. I just get a "carefree" vibe from watching this. All of the modern bands just replicate the bands they used to idolize. It seems like the true essence of rock and roll has faded away. It's all about being rebellious, pushing the envelope, and doing your own thing with passion. Energy is contagious and we just need a few good bands to start another musical revolution.

  • I would hardly call Pearl Jam a "care free" band. If anything I would say the opposite of what you are saying-- Music in the early 90s was all about a flowering of reality, while music today is pretty souless and written for the sake of getting people to dance.

  • You should have been there - I was, also at the Tivoli concert; lucky me ;)these are concerts that change you life. They still kick ass with the same intensity as in 92 as they showed last week in NL

  • yea, but you got to admit, these times were Magic times, they were young, they were Rebel! It was just Magic, on the nowadays they kick ass but in a different way, I wish I could be there in Netherlands in '92... :(

  • Ed you are the best for eveeeer!! I love you

  • the guitar solo is sick! pearl jams the best! the problem with music today is no heart, no passion,

no creativity, the rock bands from the 90s were too diverse, such like smashing pumpkins,Soundgarden,Stp,

    Bush,311,radiohead,AIC,tool,NIN the list is endless...

Im looking forward for the next decade maybe Rock will come back in a big way!

  • 1994 srry in not old

  • i saw them a few weeks before this performance in tivoli(utrecht)

  • hey that's great! I was there. soaking wet from the rain, but the best show I'd ever seen (and probably the best of the hundreds I've seen after)! Eddie's wearing a T-Shirt of 'Tivoli' a tiny club in Utrecht where they played the night before - even more legendary I'm told. I remember that they played Neil Young's original of this song over the PA prior to the show.

  • YOU ARE SO LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!

  • Im agree with you all! We need this machine now! I love Pearl Jam! They're plaing in Poland in 13 of June. And I will be there! :D:D:D:D

  • haha wow, I'm also a 1990-er. I've been readin the comments for this video, and its like your takin the words out of my mouth here haha

  • 1986...and i say the same things.

  • i saw Sonic Youth in 2000 when they opened for Pearl Jam, the crowd wasnt very responsive to them but i thought they rocked, SU is def a great band

  • There is not much good music today, but Pearl Jam still plays. Built to Spill is a good band. My Morning Jacket is great. Sonic Youth are still together. Neil Young is rocking into his 60's and on his 5th decade of rock n' roll.

  • I just watched all the concert videos tonight and fucking loved it. What a great find, thanks for posting.

  • thanks so much for putting this up

  • Oh my god all this time I thought i was just weird. I was born in 1990, so i was too young to appreciate all of this amazing music(Guns N Roses, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam.)

Someone needs to invent a time machine ASAP!

I wish i were like 20 somethin in 1990 and just live there till like 1995, pure heaven

  • OMG! we're the same! i was born in 1989 but i dig older Rock Music..i think music back then is wayy better than the music these days..I love Pearl Jam,Collective Soul,Nirvana,U2,The Cars,The Doors,Radiohead,Oasis,Foo Fighters (Although some of them still rockin..) The New Bands the i love are Coldplay,Snow Patrol,Keane,Travis..

But whenever i see older bands performing,Goshh!! I have to agree with you,I think we need a Time Machine!!

  • yeah dude, we got screwed over! we need to be re-born wayy back earlier!

  • im guessing your like me in your ealry 20s?? haha yeah i have neaver been to a pearl jam show yet but im guessing eddie does NOT do this kinda stuff much anymore him getting older and all? sad we can only see things like this on video and not real life! but hey at least when pj or eddie time comes to an end people should say! hey that was a damn good band who spoke there minds without being scared and they are were freeless!!

  • No im only 16 years old, I wish i woulda been born in like 1969

  • yeah and unfortunately, people don't see bands like this in real life anymore because many of them today are clones of pearl jam (*cough* nickelback)...and like you say, few are fearless anymore.

  • OMG I know there is close to no good music in this generation! Thank god Pearl Jam is still around...I was born in the wrong generation too=[[

It isn't fair...I'm glad there's youtube and awesome ppl to put up concerts like this.

  • mike mccreadys a damn good guitarist

  • 1.13 - 1.27 <3

    so good it's insane .

  • i wish i was old enough then to enjoy bands like this in their prime...being from this generation sucks balls...fuck emo

  • I agree, but to say pearl jam is past their prime would be false.

But ill never see STP, that saddens me.

  • I feel ya... fuck emo... I belong in the 90's

  • the best fucking live act ever

  • Look at Eddie at the end. Thought he was gonna puke.

I wish I was a kid THEN, instead of growing a teenager in the wrong damnd decade. Nevertheless, lovely band.

  • Yeah, I suddenly realize I hadn't thought of him in a while... at all!, even though he was such a huge part of the band for years

  • i miss dave abruzz... = (

  • headbanger style man!! \m/ rock on pj ><\m/

  • Pearl Jam change my life.Thanks.I´m waiting fou you in Portugal "Pavilhão Atlântico" 4 Setember.

  • i prefer vedders vocals for this song, rather than neil young's.

  • Cool

  • oh my God, Pearl Jam playing Neil Young's best song.

Hope they play it when come to Lisbon

  • they had so much energy back then!

  • it's true, but they still do!! i saw them 2 months ago, and i was sooo blown away!! best band ever

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DUDE AWESOME!!!!!!!!1

  • I always like seeing Pearl Jam do this song. And Dave just makes it so much better.

  • awesome enough said full stop. what else is there to say its eddie

  • This was the first Pearl Jam bootleg I ever owned.. Some girl gave it to me back in 1992 on this shitty audio tape.. AWESOME!!! changed my life!!
