@kec864 Buy it new? My Aunt had the Exact Zephyr Z7 She bought it new when these first came out in 1978, it was LOADED ..A/C ...Power options..great car...Hers was the Loaded model on the showroom floor..she bought it and had it until 1988...when the rust strated catching up with the poor thing because of salt and The transmission was slipping to!
@jakesaintsrow123 Their's just something about that car. It kind of reminds me of the cars from the '50s and '60s, they're big and long, but man are they beautiful. I had an off-the-frame restoration done and put a 302 crate motor in it. My day kept the factory window sticker, and after it was restored, I put back in the window. This car looks band-spankin' new. And it was worth every penny it cost me. *cough cough* $31,000.
Back in 1988, my dad bought one except his was beige. From what I remember, he bought it off an elderly couple who only drove it 13 times from when they bought it new. It only had 431 miles on the odometer. He paid $1100.00 for it. I bought from him two years ago and restored it. Beutiful, beautiful car.
@jackslater230011 My Aunt bought a Z-7 Model New in 1978 ..Great car!! She kept it until 1988 And Sold it!!! Awesome to hear you have one these were Awesome cars!!
@ZR1Terror 30mpg has been around for a long time. kinda makes you wonder. we should be up to 70mpg now. my piece of crap mazda glc had like 40mpg per gallon and that was 1981.
@jakesaintsrow123 nah my buddy wrecked it about 10-15 years ago. i loaned him the car for about 2 weeks after his mom passed away. he was rear eneded so i wasnt pissed at him. car kept working and was drivable even though it looked like a mazda accordian. lol
with all these comments below, i was about to ask: "with fuel milage like that combined with nice looks, why dont people drive these around al the time?" i guess thats why lol
My guess is that it refers to the boxy, angular, folded-paper styling that was introduced at various times by the big Three between 1977 and 1979 in response to the first oil crisis but arriving on the scene too late for the second. The idea was to maintain the same interior space as the behemoths of the past while at the same time reducing weight and size.

That commercial was ahead of its time; could pass for 1989 rather than 1979.

The 2.3l engine was a miracle no power through the rev range and no torque either. Just a steady stream of noise.

My first new car. Same color combo - mine lacked the vinyl roof though. I had the 2.3 with an automatic. 0-60 was measured in minutes, not seconds.

Horrible brand re-badging of the Ford Futura. My old man had one of these pieces of junk. Tranny fell out of it at 50,000kms.

I loved my '78 Z-7. I was forced to sell it when I relocated. I really miss that car, and my '83 GS Sedan as well. Both had that awsome 200 I6.
