I got news for all of you! Whoever made this video lied to all of y'all. First off this happened on hwy6 between iredell and meridian in bOSQUe county TEXAS!!! and 2nd off.... the driver DID SURVIVE!!!! I wad on screen when this happens. The only info correct in this video is about proper load tie down.
Those are some extreme photos. I didn't think pipe could slike like that if it was strapped down. I haul water myself, so I don't have to worry about pipe, but this does open my eyes to what can happen if not propperly secured.
that is why you need to buy a headache rack for a flat bead. i know a guy who had a load of glass on his kenworth and the load wasnt secured properly so when he went around a bend, the straps broke and the glass fell on a woman driving a convertible. she was shredded severely and killed instantly. so yes, proper load security is extremely important and life saving.
A it's not a Werner truck an old used on yes. B it happen on 287 in Texas, C he did have an rack on the truck, Load was bound for Rock Springs Wy out of Houston Tx get it right are shut up
This is just another case of people cutting corners again, either because they're too lazy to do something properly, or they're trying to save a bit of money. Either way, a life is lost because of it... and it could have been much worse. Never cut corners because this is what happens people.
@MisterBlue24 HEY BUDDY I DID NOT MEAN TO SEND YOU AN EMAIL MY BAD I MENT TO LEAVE A COMMENT ON HERE SORRY I CLICKED THE WRONG LINK BUT ANYWAY I HAVE BEEN PULLING PIPE FOR SEVENTEEN YEARS AN YOUJUST MIGHT BE OLDER BUT NO NEED TO BE CURSING
I hauled pipe for McClatchy Bros. out of Odessa in the early 70's. If you dont choke the load, and I mean in five equal areas, you very well could wear it like that poor driver did. I saw this type of accident before. Some one pulls out in front of you and the brakes are applied, no choke , you are seriously injured or dead. Even with a head ache rack, it still has to be choked. Choke it! It takes a while, but it is damned sure good life insurance.
thats why its illegal to haul pipe with out a headache rack.. I used to work in a pipe yard and if we saw a tractor and trailer come in with no headache rack they got booted out of our yard.. PEBEN compnay name that i used to work for.. its now owned by mullens.
never seen that with casing, but have seen it happen with 21'' 40' I beams and it cut the tractor in half and ripped the motor out....all cuz no headache rack
The load was not chained down properly I have carted these pipes all over the out back off Australia and the bloody load was not chained down some wanker let him use strapes strapes are for tarseal jockeys? If i saw a load like that I would have kicked his ass and then off the bloke that loaded him,Better an ass kicking than what happened.Any other trucks that seen him on the road should hang there head in shame?
First off werner don;t haul pipe and 2nd you can see the OIDA stircker on the right side so get it right he was leased to someone. Ihave been hauling pipe for 5 yrs and never had a load slide are move one me. If I fell I need more straips are chains I put them and I rember this happeing
To all you commenting that a rack couldn't have stopped this....a heavy duty headache rack COULD have stopped this accident. It's happened to me personally when I was a rookie driver, I had a rack bolted to the frame with 8 bolts and it stopped a load of casing on the interstate at 70mph when some idiot cut me off. Yeah, I didnt have it secured tight enough but then again, I was a new driver so I didnt know any better. Its the company's fault for not properly equipping their trucks.
its werner retards...they have something like 5k trucks so im sure youve seen one or two..and all their flatbed trucks have headache racks...obviously a aluminum headache rach isnt going to stop 40k+lbs of pipe sliding forward
i find this incident very sad, and i am very sad to the family of the driver who was taking these casing to the destinations, well its the fate////////////////////////////
by the way it's not a warner truck it's an x warner truck an the accident was on 287 in texas truck was on it's way to Rock Springs Wy with a load of pipe see the black an white texas dps cars
If you look real close the truck did have a headache rack on it whats left of it is still u bolted to the frame of the truck, when pipe an coils starts moveing nothing will stop it don't care how many chains, straps etc you put on it,
thats so sad,He should have loaded then against the head board, then chained them down. The head board stop the movement before it can start, this should have never happened.
That load should have been CHAINED on with chain and rachet dogs for securement, the fuckers who own the truck n trailer should have had a headboard. poor dude was just doin his job. RIP
how the fuck du u run into that...forgive me for saying that ..but shit!!!that's a drug problem not a safety issue....roughneck that don't drive have too many issues..my care goes to the family....
he had a headache rack it was inside the cab after the accident.the oil companies tell the drivers to strip and strap so it's easier for them to unload it.the safest way to load it is strip the bottom layer only and to put a belly chain first @ least one tight as possible then chain it down tight as possible with ratchet binders these rookie drivers want to use straps on everything.
I rive for Peben Oil Field And when I loadup I use 3 belly wraps and allways use more than the legal requirement of straps .. What this is is my nightmare.. Ive been driving 34 years with out a mishap, this is the only thing about this job that I worry about,,
Check some of my vids to see where I travel in my work. Most of my driving is off road going rioght to the leases to deliver all sizes of casing and drill stem
@Royalhighlander . No mishaps.... Bullshit. how many people have you run off the road while your filming? Retard. Trucker. Your camera is a pain in the ass at the rig.
any truck that hauls pipe, tubulars, or any flatdeck period should have a mandatory header board/headache rack/bulkhead, whatever the term. that alone would have saved this dude's life. and stripping on same size pipe? wtf?
its mandatory for any flatbed, drop deck, rgn, log truck, PIPE truck, basically if it has to be chained or strapped you have to have either a headboard on the trailer or a headache rack on the truck if you do not the d.o.t will park you i have the slightest idea how this truck made it past the dot without them it is illegal
if that pipe was coming at the cab that hard, no rack would stop it... the trick with pipe is to secure it so it cant start moving, cause once it does there is no stopping it
I agree,we have headache racks but they're aluminum so I wouldn't have much faith in them.I like to use chains on all steel, but sometimes you can't.I would have put at least 3 straps over the second layer, then all I had left over the top.
a guy i hauled pipe with hit the ditch, and the pipe took off the whole top of the cab, killing him... once the pipe starts moving nothing will stop it, not a rack and not a cab... and you would be surprised how fast that pipe could pick up speed...the truck makes a sudden stop while the pipe keeps going highway speed and bad things happen... ... and yes he should have had a headache rack but in this case it would have not saved him in my opinion...
putting stripping between the tiers of pipe is a bad idea...this is why i cringe every time i see casing loaded like that... i wouldnt haul it... but what do you mean by penalty strap?
I saw a similar accident but it was with rebar. And the driver did not survive

Its called momentum. The pipe wouldnt have been able to move far enough to pick up speed to go through the cab if it had a headboard.
