To all Roddick fans, I am not trying to criticize but Roodick is too predictable. I read an article a couple days ago by Boris Becker and how the dynamics and strategy of chess metaphorically represents the same for tennis. If you closely watch Roddick's ball placement, you can see how easily thought out his plays are. I'm just saying that Roger, especially, can easily predict the movement, ball pace, and strategy of Roddick's mindset.

That's why he got 16 majors, now he kinda gave up on Nadal since Nadal can beat him on grass. I like Sampras and Federer style but it doesn't like heavy top spin with high kick balls.
Federer is just an all-around better tennis player than Roddick. Not saying that Roddick is a bad player because he clearly isn't. Feel bad for the guy.
In a time where there is Nadal, Federer and so many other great players, Roddick is still able to stay within the top 10 for about 10 years now without much praise or success and yet he still strives to be the best. That's true commitment, that's why Roddick inspires me.
This was the best singles tennis performance in history, and Federer in his form in this match could have beaten anyone else in history, including Rafa on clay.
You can see how hard Roddick worked by the amount he is sweating, he even had to change shirts.... And it looks like Federer was just on a stroll in the park

I dont feel sorry for Roddick but I do admire him. Aside from the 1st serve pace, he hasn't the skill in any other stroke to compete with Federer much less the mental game. Make NO DOUBT, he absolutely knows this. Yet, he stays in shape, works, and comes back for more. The way he serves, I'm surprised he hasn't blown out a joint somewhere. Roddick is hilarious, smart, and married to a beautiful woman. The only thing I regret about Roddick is that 2 handed backhand. You're 6'2", 200lbs..please!

Seriously, Roddick is trash. He is a good solid player and really pushes himself but he is taking way too long to start making the initial "changes" to his game that were needed since 2004. He CAN make those changes and has been slowly showing progress in streaks. Wimb 09 was a great example of his improvement in many areas. Even if Federer didnt exist in 2003.. Roddick had a terrible game and mainly relied on his serve..so he could of won maybe 5 titles total.. big hype for the next SAMPRAS

i agree with this comment as well. Roddick has always had poor footwork and shot selection if you compare him with other top 5 players. His serve is his only big weapon. Wimb 09 was his best match, without a doubt, however if you pay attention. Federer was on the brink of history and played tentative and nervous because of the moment. He couldnt read Roddicks serve at all and even Roddick was shocked. Federers level of play was slow and it made Roddicks seem much higher. And RF still won.
jomamma is correct. Even if Federer didnt exist, Roddick could have won MAYBE 5 slams and Nadal would have lets be nice and say 7.. so when you say "2nd best of all" how exactly does that work? Since winning the 2003 US Open there have been 23 grand slam finals. Roddick should have been in just about all of those then, even with Federer around, correct?
rodick vs federrer will always be the best rivals to each other and their matches will always be interesting. especially at wimbeldon 09 they proved their skill is the same and everytime they play they show incredible battle. they always get to the finals and alway clash their skills against each other. i think it will always be like this. they are exactly the same and they will always have the greatest matches.
its not always like it was in the 09 wimbledon final. In fact, most times it has been a 1 sided contest. The best example is the 07 Australian open semifinal. Feder whooped Roddick like a mule. This match was magnificent, the second set (a bagel) was one of the most sublime performances ever in tennis. Clif Drysdale said "put that one in a time capsule". Unfortunatley for Roddick he was on the losing end of history.

Federer has pretty much dominated Andy since the beginning.

i agree with this comment as well. Roddick has always had poor footwork and shot selection if you compare him with other top 5 players. His serve is his only big weapon. Wimb 09 was his best match, without a doubt, however if you pay attention. Federer was on the brink of history and played tentative and nervous because of the moment. He couldnt read Roddicks serve at all and even Roddick was shocked. Federers level of play was slow and it made Roddicks seem much higher. And RF still won.

jomamma is correct. Even if Federer didnt exist, Roddick could have won MAYBE 5 slams and Nadal would have lets be nice and say 7.. so when you say "2nd best of all" how exactly does that work? Since winning the 2003 US Open there have been 23 grand slam finals. Roddick should have been in just about all of those then, even with Federer around, correct?

rodick vs federrer will always be the best rivals to each other and their matches will always be interesting. especially at wimbeldon 09 they proved their skill is the same and everytime they play they show incredible battle. they always get to the finals and alway clash their skills against each other. i think it will always be like this. they are exactly the same and they will always have the greatest matches.

its not always like it was in the 09 wimbledon final. In fact, most times it has been a 1 sided contest. The best example is the 07 Australian open semifinal. Feder whooped Roddick like a mule. It's why federer won the last 17 or 18 matches in a row. I hope it's a competitive match from now on, like the last wimbledon final. It's good for tennis

It's like how Roger feels when he wants to beat Rafa. It happens... rarely. Although... Roger has had more "success" against Rafa than Andy does against Roger. Who knows? The future of tennis looks very bright though!

Yeah, I really like Roddick... but good lord... some of those shots that Federer hit are just nothing but perfect. He plays at such a rediculous high level of precision... such as 1:19, 2:43 and 3:09. If I could do those shots, I could actually raise my level of play.

i used to not like roddick. then my friend started beating me easily every time we play no matter what i do or how hard i try. we've played so much, and every time i lose. i get a taste of what roddick feels on a much smaller scale so now i feel sorry for the guy. still a fan of roger though too.

This match was magnificent, the second set (a bagel) was one of the most sublime performances ever in tennis. Clif Drysdale said "put that one in a time capsule". Unfortunatley for Roddick he was on the losing end of history.
