  • This was the first of many consecutive "almosts" by the Honduran team. The curse was finally broke for 2010 when we miraculously qualified, bursting the happiness that was contained from the past 28 years without being able to celebrate. Canada is going to face Honduras for the 2014 qualifying, I am scarred we will be defeated. Panama is also in our group, it'll be a tough group but I hope Honduras and Canada overcome.

  • Can't wait for qualifiers for 2014 I really hope Canada makes it this year.

  • Gerry Gray is my uncle. Im proud that Canada made it but I would be even more proud if they make it in 2014. Cheers eh

  • I was born EARLY in 86. It was a good year XD

  • at soccer and all other GOOD SPORTS, the non gay ones :p

  • Canada sucks, that is all!!!!!!!

  • Nice video, my team Wycombe used to have a Canadian - Mark "Ted" Rogers

  • @RussWWFC very nice

  • Nice video but Canada beat Colombia 2-0 in the Gold Cup Final, not 2-1.

  • @Jimmybangkok it don't matter, they still suck cox n dix

  • Mexico '70

    Mexico '86

Mexico '2026 Support the bid !!

  • the thing is, canada has a really good team now, they just get screwed over with the qualifyers. i mean, brazil? argentina? uraguay? chile? shit. im english and we qualify because we draw shit ass teams like andorra lol im half canadian anyway, so COME ON CANADA! WORLD CUP 2014!

  • @toxic2k7 no they don't, what are you smoking negro, they are embarrassing, i mean my school team can beat them like 8-0 without even trying, and that was when i was 17, now i play for manchester united, and i can tell you that we rape....tits

  • "Canada did do the impossible"?

    qualifying is the impossible??? xD

Seriously guys, that should be the easy part, maybe score a goal on the next world cup and then we might talk...

  • I remember Canada's qualifying & WC for the 86 tournament. Good memories. I have a hard time believing we haven't qualified since although the Gold Cup win in 2000 was sweet. So far in my honest opinion, CONCACAF has struggled to make an impact on any WC - with our best showing being quarterfinal appearances by Mexico and the US. And thats it. We have to do better for 2014, especially we're concerned about getting more qualifying spots for CONCACAF.

  • @OttawaRocks -FIFA wont give more slots unless a third team can rise above the group stages. Since 98, only mexico and the US have done that-proving their worth.

  • MEXICO '70 and MEXICO '86 the two best World Cups in history !!

  • @sammira2010

USA 1994 is the best in history

  • @TheCanada619 I agree with you negro, and it was the best cause Canada didn't qualify :D

  • im 15..i live in canada. Recently a dome designated for soccer was built in my home town. It is beautiful. We have organized leauges. Houseleague.., and rep for the more skilled players i play rep and we practice in the dome. Soccer is becoming so popular in canada soon we will be just like the european countries and we will make it to the world cup. Hopefully 2014 brazil.

  • @95TMLFAN Well its getting more popular here but Canada will never be like European countries in soccer. Its just Canadian mentality. The Canadian mentality is just not focused enough on the game. We are trapped in our winter. Our winter is the killer to the beautiful game. Thats why hockey was born here in Canada. If you noticed, all the good soccer nations are nations with no actual or not much snowing winter (Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Dutch, Italy, Uruguay, England etc). BUT GO CANADA

  • @95TMLFAN

you're Canadian? I bet you suck balls at soccer

stick to hockey this Mexican Mericle is your only World Cup!

  • @TheCanada619 lmao wanna stop trolling me? i just watched your bros vid of u playing soccer and you toe punt bud.

  • @95TMLFAN hey nigga, no one is gonna stop trolling you, not even me. listen pal, you better stop sucking cox n dix aiight, i bet your tonsils are pretty swollen. anyways canada sux @ soccer k? peace cox n dix suckin piece of dank. OH and BTW i heard that you toe punt your dick into other guys assess.

  • @MoRap4U im not black but alright, great spelling maybe you should go to school.

  • @95TMLFAN maybe you're the one who should go back to school nigga. Learn how to spell I'm, not im. RETARD... and by the way, I heard that you love it when other guys toe punt their dicks into your ass. I want to ask you a question, is it still red???

  • @MoRap4U cock* and* dix? idk what your saying there, alright* anyway* sucks* cocks* again...dix sucking* dank? Dumbass....and you seem pretty interested in my ass, faggot go suck your dad dick.

  • @TheCanada619 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH u tell em negro, if he's canadian, he definently sux cox n dix

  • I know a few years back CBC was airing Canadas soccers games during the summer. The ratings were very high as high as NHL hockey games Canadas most popular sport. I enjoyed the games because the crowds were huge and rowdy and the bleachers were a sea of red and white and Canadian flags just like at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic hockey games and the hockey WJC. Come on CBC put the Canadian soccer games back on tv.

  • Canada for 2014!!

  • i wish i was alive to see it

  • making the world cup does not make you one of the top teams in the world.

  • i hope canada can make 2014. During the world cup it seems like everyone else forgets they're Canadian and everyone puts on their patriotism and wear their national colours of their homeland. If Canada were to qualify i think for once more people would go for the Canadian team rather than our home countries.

  • @TASSOS502 I'd go for both!

  • @TASSOS502 i totally agree, i hope the next world cup brings the same excitement for canada as the olympics in vancouver

  • @addy800 In all honesty I'm guilty of it too. I'm Greek and I went insane in 2004 and again today when we qualified. So much so that I didn't even realize Canada is playing a World Cup qualifier tonight until about 2 hours ago

  • CANADA is such a multicultural. We got so many people from Europe like italy portugal poland, people from the middle east, asia , latin america and african all who left there country for a better life in CANADA and thats what CANADA did. My family left EL SALVADOR to came to CANADA looking for a better life and thats what CANADA did for us thank you . United were strong all those who are born in CANADA and plays for there NATIVE country should be deported from CANADA GO CANADA SOCCER

  • @elsalvadorplaya I would deffinitly not say SUCH a mutli cultural country..mabye toronto

  • @elsalvadorplaya Good point but most of the immigrants go to the US...

  • @elsalvadorplaya CANADA SUX COX N DIX...... go iran!!!!!!!!!

  • Being born in CANADA I think CANADA could have a good team. If every good soccer player we had didn't play for there parents country we would good. Those who are playing for there parents country are just giving CANADA a big slap. There parents left there native country to have a better life in CANADA and thats how they pay there respect to CANADA WTF. We should just deport them back to where ever they came from. I'm a salvadorian born in CANADA and united we can go to BRAZIL 2014

  • @elsalvadorplaya you must suck then if your born in canada hoser.

  • the only way canada will ever make the world cup again is if they host it

  • I am so proud of canadian soccer. We have some great players but Soccer Canada sucks.........we need a new regime and need some positive thinkers....we need to change the system ............something has to change...........

  • I dont understand why such small countries like slovenia and uruguay can get a team into the world cup but Canada cant..

sure its not our biggest sport but enough people play it that we should get a team in

    PLEASE qualify for 2014

  • @kyle887923 Dude its not the size its the skill of the players. And I doubt Canada will qualify for 2014, no offense.

  • @masterkung1231 THANK YOU, they won't. it's 100% fact bro/sis. they just suck, it's a fact. the only time they went to the world cup was in 86, and they didn't manage to score a goal lol, or even win hahahahahahhahhaahahahahahhahaha CANADA SUX COX N DIX @ soccer

  • @kyle887923 You know I really just dont understand how you think the skill of a sport is dependent on the size of a country, NO!!! Its the skill! You really dont know much about sports. Unless its ice hockey or something. But congrats to Canada during 1986.

  • @kyle887923 because they have quality players and a good national soccer program.

  • @kyle887923 it's because they actually enjoy the sport and care about it retard. Canadians just don't. They play when they are young, but after that they don't care about the sport. Unless they change their mindset, you can kiss 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026, 2030 fifa world cups, aiight nigga......hope u ain't mad, i'm just tellin it as it is. BTW they need to stop sucking cox n dix :D

  • Instead of everyone sulking, and whining about how we'll never qualify unless Soccer in Canada grows, everyone should just get behind the team. We have three friendly matches coming up. Against Peru on Sept. 4 at Toronto's BMO, Honduras on Sept. 7 at Montreal's Saputo Stadium, and the Ukraine in October - but thats in the Ukraine. Grab tickets to a home game ($25-$100) and a jersey ($50) and things will start to change before you know it.

  • Peru sucks in soccer,we are getting worst every time, that is why we will play against canada, even canada will defeat us....

  • Oh and from what I know Canada was never the best team in all of North America, they may have won the 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup but one win doesnt make a 10th place team first place. Rankings in soccer are determined by points. If its anything Canada would be in like 8th place. But anyways congrats to Canada. :)

  • Well you cant say they were one of the top 24 teams in the world, even at that time because if you think about it some African teams, U.S, Croatia even at the time had better overall rankings than Canada(ranked by Fifa). Every team has their bad day, so perhaps Honduras had a bad day. But its still amazing that Canada actually qualified.(no offense)

  • Canada should host world cup in 2026

  • @folladordeprostis Sorry Ecuador, Colombia, or Peru currently are starting to bid.

  • @dtnoble1 oops i accidently typed hope :S LOL

  • WTF is Canada doing! They better be looking foward to 2014 baby!!!!

  • would be a exciting journey for Canada if they qualify for the 2014 world cup and appear for the second time in the fifa world cup! "OH CANADA, OUR HOPE AND NATIVE LAND".

  • I remember Canada in 1986; The game with France made an impression for the rest of the world. I don't think I will see Canada in the World Cup in my lifetime and I'm still young unless Canada hosts the World Cup.. IF this country does not gets behind soccer like it does hockey we will never get past the north american qualifying round.. Not just money but to develop the players and have leagues to keep our best here in Canada, not over in Europe. Actually winning the World Cup? Next century

  • @quicksilverquinn sadly the people will only get excited if they start doing well. but hell we need to do better on developing our youth. cause its not like theres a shortage of players. need more teams in the MLS or even starting a small pro league to give them more hope of going pro. then we'd see the hidden talent here come out.

  • Interesting. I remember Canada in '86. Always nice to see an underdog doing well. Would have been nice to see them do better.

  • canada needs to catch up with the usa and mexico...they have the potential to be a decent team that goes to the world cup...we (usa) need the competition instead of just usa-mexico usa-mexico....canada has the ability i know that...canada in a way are our cousins( we speak the same...almost lol) but ya

  • @idahosatha12 thats true and canada has good young players but they figure that theres no hope of making it a career so they quit after highschool. damn it we dont need docters...

  • Question: How many "grenouilles" were there in Team Canada back in 1986? Yes, Tino Lettieri is italian, but heiled from Montreal, QC.

I wonder if our national soccer program will get it's act together and take all qualifying games from now on seriously.

  • You have to think, with so many of our youth NOW playing soccer, we can only get a better crop. When I was a kid in the 70's, you played hockey in the winter, and baseball in the summer, maybe some pick-up football in the fall leaves.

The traditional thinking is US and Mexico are pretty much the default locks, and we look to squeeze in past Hondorus, Costa Rica, Cuba, etc. We have to aim to be the best, not the third. We don't just want to go to the WC - we want to cause a ruckus!

  • canada is a growing team they are always a suprise when it comes down to the last 5 minutes...its awsome seeing canada grow im sure they will qualify for brazil 2014 good luck....from mexico!

  • World Cup Canada 2026!? You heard it right. With the overwhelming success of the U20 World Cup Canada, which drew a record audience, those viewing at home and in attendance, FIFA is urging Soccer Canada to bid for either 2022, 2026. We have the infrastructure, with most of our stadiums only needing minor renovations. We have the money to invest in the games, and the winter olympics showed everyone we can put on a major sporting event. It would also boost football's popularity in NA if we host.

  • Canada will make it to the World Cup again, and many experts are forcasting Canada, along with the US, China, and Japan, to be one of the next football super powers. How is that possible? Easy, it all comes down to money, population, and popularity. We have the money, and we have the population, we just need to get people interested. Now with the expansion of the MLS in Vancouver and Montreal, football's popularity is growing. We will definately qualify for 2018, and probably host in 2026.

  • I think in my life time we WILL see Canada in the world cup again :) Let's Go Canadaa!! :D

  • Wanna hear 'oh canada' in 2014WC! So go Canada!!!

  • Canada are shit.

  • @expedition16 your shit

  • @TheBrisk3 your cannuck mom is shit.

  • @expedition16 whatever country your from is shit

  • From Canada, Thanks for the love. To be a CONCACAF powerhouse like Mexico or the US would be sick. Hopefully in 2014 I'm seeing Canada flags in Toronto other than the other 31 teams. Play me in 2010 world cup for ps3 NOW!!!

  • My good friends from Canada, you'll make it up to the World Cup again and your presence will be permanent thereafter. Gee!, you had the most terrific performance any nation has ever had in the Winter Olympics! Namely you've got powerful institutions, millions of lively young fellows... everything, it's just a matter of finding the right path to give soccer a definitive boost. Patience and hard work, we'll be glad to have you there. Canada the best country in the world.

  • Riveting. Maybe the next video you post could be on Canada's elite Knitting team. Soccer's for panties.

  • Thank you for this video.

  • for me this is a much better accomplishment than Brazil, Italy or France winning the world cup. In soccer Canada has always been the underdog.

  • Nice vid dude, thanks..

  • Canada vs. Honduras was played in st.johns NFLD and was said by the team that the intense support from the fans was what one them the match

  • Im Canadian with my parents coming from Portugal. I have always cheered for Portugal when it comes to Soccer. But if Portugal ever faced Canada... I'd be cheering go Canada go.

  • Canada only rampages at hockey... but since playoffs are over i have no country to cheer for in world cup =( i guess England or Germany i will root for.

  • great!

  • Inspirational

  • Inspirational!!blaysia

  • this is pretty cool, i've seen alot of old US world cup games but it's interesting to see footage of canda in a world cup!

  • Time to get back. I remain hopeful as always.

  • @nannini1 same lol.im always praying,if I had one wish it would be for Canada to become known on the world stage of football,I believe we have potential, things need to change before Canada can gain some steam.

  • my dad went to go see canada vs soviet union in the estadio sergio leon chavez stadium in irapuato with my uncle he was only 13yrs old

  • the journey to 2014 starts on may 24 when Canada plays Argentina!!!!! CANADA!!!!

  • im mexican and im proud of canada for getting in to mexico 86' hope u guys go to brazil 2014 good luck.....= )

  • As a proud Canadian and fan of the beautiful game, I want to see them there, too!

  • they didnt make it :(

  • @9xxDARKMIDGETxx9 thanks

  • @9xxDARKMIDGETxx9 u know what thank you im canadian an =d im so proud of my team and i hope someday canada (and mexico, which the already did) make it to the world cup or in brazil. maybe de guzman or de rosario will score

PS canadians don always say "eh" ahahhahahahah yup

  • @9xxDARKMIDGETxx9 don't get your hopes up...i'm mexican too and i live in canada but i would rather not want to watch them get raped up the ass and get beat in every match they played, let some other deserving country play instead, they would at least score a goal.

  • @MoRap4U

As an American I rather have Canada in the World Cup instead of Mexico anytime!

  • @MoRap4U iF THEY HAVE A TEAM...THEY HAVE A CHANCE!

  • @MoRap4U Just look at NZ in 2010! The whole world expected 3 hammerings, yet the all-whites barley missed out on the last 16!

  • @9xxDARKMIDGETxx9 based on the pools we got into things are looking good (:

  • im canadian and i can say it make me very proud watching this video, but mad when i see canada hasnt qualified since, and the reasons our best players choose to play for either birth countrys or their parents countrsy and 2 our youth team look for horses not smart skillfull players

  • "soccer is also un-popular in usa and japan"

Remember there are millions of people playing soccer i USA and in Japan soccer is nr.2 behind baseball for now but lots of young people like it so time is working for it.

Maybe youngsters in Canada think they can not make money from soccer but remember that there are maybe 100 times as many professional soccer players in the world as hockey players or american football players.

  • So when is canada going to qualify again? I would like to see Canada up there fighting with Mexico, USA, Costa Rica, Honduras etc. for the world cup spots.

  • The sad history of canadian soccer, come on canadians dudes make something about it!! soccer is also un-popular in usa and japan but those teams are better today than 20 years ago and qualify to word cups.....

  • @kondurperusix We only have 32 million to chose from though:(

  • Uruguay has only 3 million and they won 2 world cups and reach semi finals in 1954,1970 and 2010!

  • @folladordeprostis yea but they like soccer...

  • @folladordeprostis Yah, but Uruguay won both their titles before the 1960s, before the World Cup mattered to so many people. What have they done recently, other than cheat Ghana out of a semi-final spot?

  • i would like to know where are

    randy samuel

    paul dolan

    tino lettieri

    mike sweeney

    carl valentine

    raigan pakos

    bruce "papy"wilson

i am a frenchie and i still remember them....

  • Why canadian soccer sucks????? soccer is more popular in canada than in the usa, right>????

  • The governing body of soccer in Canada are incompetent and its difficult getting the best players to play for the national team. Most sports money in Canada goes to hockey and the Olympics leaving very little for everything else.

  • But canadian people are more interested in soccer, than americans, right???

  • Nice video...though I would have preferred some Max Webster or Rush instead of those wanker sell-outs, U2. Remember when Bono had the US flag jacket at the Super Bowl? That was just funny Yankee-love shite.

  • Bono is overrated,he is too americanize,he suppported the war in irak,he met and shake hands with bush and blair, sad but true

  • Team Canada's goalie came to my school today not Craig Forrest but the one in the clip before he singed my world cup ball!

  • It might have been the only world cup appearance but if the Canadians play real hard they can make it to 2014. I strongly believe that Jamaica is going to make it to 2014 and other world cups. Congrats to Canada for winning the 2000 Gold Cup. I think the organizers of the Gold Cup should have other countries hosting it apart from the USA.

    Concacaf rules

  • Amen to the alternate hosting idea. It'll happen...half-empty stadiums can only last so long. Why not have half-empty stadiums in Toronto or Kingston?

  • @ElCanuque I guess the organizers should give it a try, I remember one year Mexico and America were co-hosts. Talks are being made for Jamaica to host the under 17 World Cup Qualifiers for this year.

  • @jed1540 Nah I doubt Jamaica will make it, just cuz they're all black doesnt mean they're good at soccer. Canada making it...maybe.

  • @masterkung1231 being good at soccer doesn't have anything to do with black, white ,hispanic or any other race. What matters are tactics, techniques , skills and discipline. Well the 2014 qualifiers will be starting 2012 so let us see.

  • @jed1540 Yeah dude I know you should really be replying to kyle997923, he's the one thinking the size of a country matters to the skill. I mean dude no offense you should really carefully read my comments before you start saying I'm wrong, cuz I never said being black means you're good or the size of a country means you're good, take China as an example they're pretty huge but they suck at soccer.

  • @masterkung1231 sorry for my reply, it can be argued because the bigger a country is, there will be a larger talent pool to choose from for example Brazil. Compare to an Italy or a Japan which are much smaller than Brazil, there will be less players. Of the two last teams mentioned, one has won the world cup 4 times and the other best finished was the round of 16. I guess it has to do with the quality of players and how well the teams' soccer program is structured. I told kyle997923 already

  • @jed1540 It's okay, and it's weird all the South American teams havent been playing their best in the past two world cups, Brazil being eliminated in the round of 16 despite playing amazingly in every game before. And yeah I guess you're right, Canada's huge, so therefore I would guess a larger chance for more talent. But Brazil, idk it just comes naturally to them, a Brazillian kid moved in my school district and our modified team was undefeated for a while, but he moved again...

  • @masterkung1231

okay look, in brazil they arent 'naturally' good. they have a league they have someting kids look up to they have facilites they have LOVE for the game they have coaches that teach the game well they have the weather (minor factor) considering other counries liek england, U.S ect..ect.. now with TFC , we have something too look up to, some ppl to look up to , in 1986, we had everything now no, canada will maek the world cup one day. ppl just gotta stop 'hoping' cuz nun comes ez

  • @pero247 Yeah ik, soccer is just more popular in other countries(yes ik obviously). And i wonder, if us and canada were to meet in the world cup i wonder what would happen.

  • @jed1540 Oh yeah I'm the one telling kyle887923 that the size and race doesnt matter so again you should really be telling him, not me. The info you just told me is the same info I told him so to me kind of pointless, to him...lol he needs it, lmao.

  • when im feeling down I read the comments from fifaworldcuphero as they always make me laugh so thanks for chearing me up mate really appreicated.

But you have to let this go it's been 22 years. The one and only world cup Canada will ever play in. I see you havn't replied in a while. You take care of yourself mate.

  • Typical White Suburban Kid who doesn't know crap of life...

  • Great represtation of Canadian soccer. Made me pround!

  • I recall watching Canada-USSR on TV in 1986.

All things considered, the Canadians gave a good account of themselves. Odd that they haven't been back since.

  • Toronto FC est. 2007

    Vancouver Whitecaps(?) est. 2011

    Montreal Impact(?) est. 2012(?)

With three MLS teams Canada can hope to qualify for Brazil 2014. Allez les rouges!

  • I see you 2 girls are having a lovers tiff again you 2 have been bitching backwards and forwards about canadian footie for ages now you could write all there is know abot canadian football on the back of a postage stamp. Please feel free to write comments as I could do with a laugh. Come on girls must be time for another round of insults its only been a few hours since your last posting. I await your response with the greatest of anticipation.

  • You are mistaken because this the first time I posted here.

  • Most canadians don't understand how to play the game. I have seen canada adhere to the same stupid and boring system of lobbing the ball up the field. It never works! canada needs to work on individual ball control and short passes to the nearest player. Also we need to have kids playing soccer on the streets like they do hockey. The skills need to be engrained at a young age. The league system is not enough. Kids need to take their game to the streets and play without rules. Rythm w/ the ball.

  • Ya I know just giving my own suggestion on a league system that would work because soccer is different we can't have all the best players if we make a "pro" league so why follow the American model? Are they the ones who created the game and have been a world power for a hundred years? No so we should follow the British one. You bring up a good point kids don't practice their skills as much here but I'm not sure if you can change it in Canada

  • Frankly Canada can't model their league after the UK for two big reasons. The size of the country and the number of minicapilities that would support a semi pro team. We just don't have it.

The MLS is an established league, and the level of play is getting better every year. It isn't about America vs Canada it is about North America. I would argue this league will one day become the strongest league in a hundred years like the NHL of soccer.

  • No man your missing the point its developing our talent through this system we need our own league MLS is a bad system because the Americans don't care for the sport whereas Canadians do and I am telling you it will NOT be the NHL of soccer there is no way I am telling you soccer will always be looked down upon by the general American audience but it won't by the Canadian audience yet we have our teams in their league? With their system? Our country has enough municipalities to support teams

  • All you need is a place with at least 100,000 people and we are good. We can have small stadiums that would fit 5-8,000 people it doesn't have to be a huge business. I care for the soccer development in our country and showcasing our own talent as opposed to trying to make the greatest league ever 100 years down the road like who really cares about that?

  • Lol oh brother. Well you haven't addressed any of my points except to keep adding onto yours. Not a very effective way to debate some one. First off no we don't have enough municipalities to support a pro league yet.

It has nothing to do with the size it has to do with interest. Todate most Canadian cities or minicpalities would support a pro hockey team before they would support a soccer.

Also we already have a primar league set up in canada but the fan support isn't there.

  • Every city and every province has a divisional league already in place but the main reason why only a few of these teams turn pro is because of money. Not enough people will pay to see a soccer game. Hence good canadian talent will go over seas.

  • You also make another wrong assertion. You said all we need is at least 100,000 people to support a team. Okay but you are assuming that 5 to 8000 people will support a pro league. That is a hudge chunk of the sport market in those towns. Maybe 20 to 30 thousand of these people actually care to watch sports and maybe only 2000 to 3000 people play soccer. So you think you can get 5 to 8 thousand people to watch a pro team? Lol show me the stats that would support this claim?

  • Not only that but you are also assuming that these municipalities will have the same levbel of sport interest. Sport interest varies from city to city. This is why Edmonton and calgary have foot ball teams instead of major league baseball teams. This is why Toronoto has a Basket ball team and Vancouver doesn't.

Lastly, real interest in soccer is around the toronto area. Hence any league will be largely based in that location. It will be an Ontario pro league not a canadian pro league.

  • Oh and BTW, it takes any league at least fifity years to become financially successful. This is "like" a historical fact.

Hence even if we started a pro canadian league (with little fan support), it will take fifty years for this league to produce real results. Anyways stay true to your dream of a canadian league but it isn't going to happen in your youth. Toronoto and Vancouver have already thrown their pro teams into this league. Sorry.

  • Interest in soccer is in Vancouver and Montreal as well I am convinced that you know very little of sports interests in this country. Olympic stadium in Montreal souled out when Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps went there and Vancouver got an MLS team because the citizens demanded it and soccer is the most attended sport by youths in both these cities compared to hockey, football, basketball, and baseball yet baseball and hockey players are the only ones who make names for themselves

  • Lol well if you are so convince I know little about sports in this country show me the stats that support your claim. Post a link and provide proof that you know what you are talking about.

Once again in case you ignored me the first time, I will assert that there isn't going to be a canadian soccer league in your youth. because all the major cities are throwing their support for the MLS. So yeah if you want to have a career in soccer, you might want to deal with that fact. :)

  • Yes obviously you know very little of soccer in the country all I'm doing is giving suggestions why do I have to do all this research like I'm gonna make a report for you? Forget that maybe if you were the CSA I would but your just some youtube user so finding numbers won't make a difference.

  • What a cop out.

High on claims low on proof.

  • I'm from Vancouver and I'm telling you its the most attended youth sport in the metro Vancouver area whether you like it or not I don't need to find numbers when most people in the area are in agreement.

You have no idea how fast season tickets for the Vancouver MLS team sold out here. In only the first week tickets already sold out I'm sure Toronto isn't the only place that can have soccer and shows great ignorance at your part souldude81 on the rest of the country.

  • Yes well I never said soccer wasn't popular in vancouver. I said most cities in canada wouldn't support a pro team, yet.

I only believe what I see. So far you haven't shown me anything except your opinions.

For the record I am not against a canadian league, I just don't think it is going to happen with the MLS expansion. BTW if you support the White Caps you are supporting the MLS.

  • I am supporting Vancouver Whitecaps because I like soccer and its a local team what are you getting at? Supporting MLS? What am I gonna do boycott them? I'll see em anyways I don't care. BTW I listen to our local radio and our sports radio has mentioned the popularity of soccer in the Vancouver area numerous times and no one here doubts it. If what you believe is what you see then I won't even bother with you your not from Vancouver you don't know Canada

  • Actually you don't know Canada and you also never understood my argument from the start because I never once said anything about Vancouver not liking soccer. The fact you keep bringing it up is because you keep reaching for something to debate me with.

The fact remains Canada is going to support the MLS over a Canadian league so get over your nationalistic views. The white caps belong to the MLS now beeatch. I rest my case, AGAIN! :P

  • You mentioned that Vancouver doesn't have a basketball team because of disinterest but I told you Vancouver citizens rallied to save the Grizzlies so if you were incorrect about that assumption then what makes you credible enough to know what Canada will or won't do? Canada will be interested in soccer but I'm saying what's better for the country to be in MLS where most teams play American players with little attendance or Canadian league that showcases our best in front of our own audience?

  • Wow wow wow hold it there you have just proven how little you know of Canadian sports interests Vancouver loves basketball when the Grizzlies were in talks of leaving it was huge news and citizens rallied to save the team it moved because it was poorly managed and was the worst team in the NBA for every season in the league and currently the owner of the Canucks is trying to get the Pacers to move to Vancouver that shows your lack of knowledge of this one particular region of Canada.

  • Well I will believe it when I see it. Show me an NBA team excel in vancouver. Once again stats speak louder than words. And if it was bad management then why didn't the Owners just fire the managers? That would have been the logical thing to do.

I believe SOME vancouver locals love basket ball but I don't believe enough loved the grizzilies to have supported their team through thick and thin.

  • "Through thick and thin" dude who cheers for a terrible team run terribly for the first 6 season of its existence trust me as a citizen of Vancouver the fans rallied to try and save the team but it was beyond their control you know nothing of Vancouver and your trying to hide the fact by saying to give numbers.

  • Nah I am trying to get you to assert something other than your opinions.

  • canada can be a perennial power but the system needs to be fix!! quick!!

  • Exactly what I am trying to say. I don't want any players to jump at me. All I am saying is that given the fact that they know what worked in 86' , the system of soccer management should have at least become a big stronger and more competitive. Even if it was for a small soccer pool. I honestly think we Canada should have at least already made it into 1 damn world cup. At least one. But now competition is fierce!! T&T is coming up strong, Jamaica is jaded and wants in, ES is putting a good run

  • I am not blaming the canadian players, I am blaming the systematic and very slow approach that the Canadian system had. The players are fine. But I question the failed and somewhat slwo systematic approach.

  • yo you guys keep on argueing that Canada won't make it to anything else or whatever , but remember this , when you see a Blonde Kid whos Polish , and scoring goals for Canada that will be me , in about 2 to 5 years :P CANADA!!! ( AND POLSKA!!!)

  • What I am saying is that given the stronghold that the USA and Mexico have in concacaf soccer and predominantly the rise of the USA soccer program in recent years, I really doubt that Canada´s current program as it stands can compete with the output of professionals like Costa Rica, the tenacity and willingness of El Salvador, Honduras, Trinidad and also places like Jamaica. Is not that they have better resources that the fewer players that they have are more devoted to the game.Muchlikehockey

  • I`m telling you right now you do realize that kids who are 16 right now will be 22 and 23 by the time World Cup qualifying comes around and your predicting they will be just like the players from the previous generations I`ve witnessed great players from the 1988 `89 and `90 age groups from the Vancouver area these players haven`t been discovered from Europeans yet and one person I know has gone to Germany but European countries don`t want to come here to scout that is a problem.

  • No experience, no international experience, no formal backing, no organized formal training program, no support with regards to youth programs. Forget personal vendettas aside. Europe should not matter, you see that is the problem with the Canadian futbol system it place huge emphasis on parental european rule and approval. That is not right, take a look at the US model. I have read and watched extensive stuff on youtube. Our soccer model is too dependant on other approval. Even that of of US

  • The players in my area (not sure about yours) are good enough to take on anyone your saying Canada won`t make the World Cup in 2018 I`m saying you can`t predict that since you know nothing of players from BC, Alberta, and even from Quebec these players if given the opportunity will show you and others that they can play you just don`t know who they are so you can make assumptions based on the fact Canada has "historically" not been good even without a good s
