I have owned many of these beetles over the years and I actually sold one to a guy who called me two days later and asked me if it had a reverse gear?
Thanks for posting that -- I love his stories. I have most of their records, including this one, but my stereo is on the fritz, so it's nice to be able to hear this again.
I first heard this about ten years ago when I lived in Tallahassee. As an old VW Bus owner (40 years ago), I have to say this is one of the funniest things I have ever heard.
In my college days, had one of these "bugs". Driving home to the farm after class one afternoon, it started to sleet. Had to drive with one hand out the window scraping the ice from the windshield. Nearly froze to death at age 19!! By the time I got home, the entire glass was frozen over except for this one tiny little spot I kept clean with the scraper.
Does this ever bring back memories. I seen Wendy in person many times. He was the greatest. You could just look at him and start laughing. He was very good.
yeah it does i saw wendy in winston salem,n.c. when i was 5 yrs. old.i was born with open spine.& by the grace of God could walk,he picked me up at intermission,"he was at sales table,he said,God has a reason 4 you.,it took me 30more yrs. too know, why i can get around, but that's another miracle from God.take care & God bless you ALL.
Zoya, HymnTimeGospelSongs, has tghe rattlensake story as i just got through watching it. Wendy bagwell is still a classy man even after he is gone, to bad there arent some like him around today
this brings lots of memories of me and my brother....could anyone tell me where I can find the song/story that wendy bagwell did about grandpaw's teeth, loosing them and finding them in the flour bin?.....this was one of our favorites and I can't find anything on it anywhere....help, anyone!!!!
You can try and call BAGWELL Sales (Wendy's Furniture Store, located in Mableton GA.) and ask if they by chance have any of his CD's or even tapes of some of his stuff. I remember years ago they did have some. That is the best I can offer.
I can remember, as a kid, sitting in my basement with daddy's record player and listening to this. It bring back so man memories, thank you for adding this.
This is my Uncle and I can remember him telling me this story along with the Rattlesnake story when I was a young child... What a wonderful man he was...
do you by chance know where I can get a copy of the story/song he use to do also about grand-paws teeth & finding them in the flour bin.....has anybody seen my teeth.....it was sooooo funny & I would love to be able to hear it again.
I wish every one of you could have known Wendy personally. He was one of the finest Christian men I ever knew and I can promise you that he never said anything with the intention of offending anyone. But he was smart enough to know that everybody didn't have a sense of humor but there was a bunch of people who would appreciate his sense of humor! He laughed all the way to the bank!!
RAH! I VOTE YES ~ hoping someone has a copy. It's SUPERB & all like my aunt-in-law who, sadly, TEMPT THE LORD by handling POISONOUS SNAKES despite HIS WORDS in spots like Matt 4:7 and end up BITTEN will face Him Whom they chose to defy; but, my aunt was fortunate enough to leave her ordeal w/ only a shriveled hand & fixed up a tale to ease her defiance. She decided the snake AIMED 4 the guy NEXT to her & got HER instead.
Serving TRUE GOD always offends all who deceive others for personal gain as YOU admit doing so you "taking offense" is expected. But, don't you know ANY Scriptures but those stolen from context to serve deceptive motives? Phony preachers are the REASON so many souls will enter hell; & the LORD said He has a very SPECIAL place for them! WOE UNTO YOU for refusing to enter Heaven yourself; and, getting in the way so others can't go in! An HONEST Matt 4:7, 23:13 study will never favor your eternity!
OMG I remember this story when I was a kid
