  • Rattle and Hum one of their best albums

  • why is it dat dis is amazin along wit all der other old stuff but unfortunatly its been a steady decline in the quality...just compare any new song to ANY of der old tunes.... no comparison..!!

  • ROCK ON!! TCB

  • temasso!!!..

  • great song..!

  • U2 are the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol took me 2 weeks to find the name of dis song heard it on the radieo 3 times i dat time

  • This is my favourite U2 song aswell. Rattle and Hum is such a brilliant album. U2 are not very good - they're extremely good! Fact!

  • how can U2 be rubbish? if 'rubbish' was an ancient jutish or celtic word meaning 'damn soulful and great' then by all means call them rubbish. they channell all the greats in the rock and soul genre. you've got the memphis soul sound, presley. its a bit black, its a bit white. but you won't regret the good feel vibes of 'angel of harlem'.

  • @0o0oBOWDENo0o0

Yeah, all those millions of records and albums sold, concerts sold out, even to this day people love their music.... yep you're right, they must be rubbish.......

  • i wouldn't use that argument if i were you, considering whose concerts are sold out today :(((

but, i agree :) timeless band

  • you lost me, what argument?

  • boo!!!

  • this is my favorite u2 song!

  • this is my favorite U2 song!!! awesome!!!

  • "angel in the devil shoes"

    i <3 this song.

  • rip mommyy il this video..

  • i think we shud all boycot youtube untill adverts are gone lol

  • without the money coming in from the adverts, the quality of youtube will degenerate over time.

  • why the fuck are the advertising over videos now

  • i think because thay are sony adverts and coz sony own universalmusicgroup that could be why ...

  • bono is better then you

  • me to ! i love it i cant stop listing to it !!!

  • does anyone know why the edge is called "the edge"?

  • 2 Theories

#1 couse of his edgy face

#2 Bono said he has a sharp mind

  • this is my fave song by them :)

  • U2 wrote "Miami"

  • I've seen you a few times now.. Are you obsessed or something?

  • i think he's some tipe of maniac

  • say what you like about x factor but at least it gets people thinking about this sort of music again. we listen to the x factor, think they're shit but remember actually what a great song it is and then go on youtube to listen to the oringinal masters in all their glory.

Great song- my fav u2 song.

  • lol that's exactly what i did, good point ^^

  • why the comparision with the dude 4m x factor...jamie doesnt come close..simply becoz bono wrote this song and if jamie ever wins that thing ..he'll only ever be a manufactured pop twat.

  • better when black people sing?????!!!!!!! BONO IS THE BEST SINGER

  • get off the crack.

  • god ur an ass if you want to call him a wanker go ahead but try not to look like a wanker yourself

  • sorry bono it always sounds better when black people sing

  • lol are you comparing bono with jamie ar..uh whoever

  • JamieAFRO es el hombre!!!!

  • Jamie Afrooo (L)

  • He is so good, he has to win X factor

  • oh yea jamie archer version is mad!!! its awesome!!!!

  • Jamie Archer's version is much better

  • totally agree!!

  • tuneage

  • so whats the attitude to irish people in new york? will be going there next summer...

  • dont worry you'll be fine, the guards are all irish lol

  • PMSL

  • amooooooooooo essa musica

  • i dont like U2 but i love this song

  • so you do like u2?

  • no. it is possible to like a song without liking the band

  • yeahhh i know what you mean

  • one of the very few 'true great' rock bands!

  • Los que sueñan de día son conscientes de muchas cosas que escapan a los que sueñan sólo de noche.

    Edgar Allan Poe

  • Maybe best band active today. I remember in 1981 when they dropped "I will follow." Saw them live in San Francisco at the free Embarcadero Square show. Never forget when Bono spray painted the sculpture. I listen to them every day.

  • Anybody heard this song live? I can't imagine it sounds all that good without the horns and, though I'm not a U2 expert by any means, I've never heard of them traveling with a horn section.

  • EXCELLANT:). I LOVE U2

  • 2:49

  • C*L*A*S*S*I*C

  • Top 5

    1. Ill go crazy if ill dont go crazy tonight.

2.Where the streets have no name.

  • top 3 are:

    1. with or without you

    2. I still haven't found what I'm looking for

    3. where the streets have no name

  • I've heard that U2 had never heard of Billie Holliday before they wrote this song in her honour.

Oh well, better late than never?

RIP Billie Holliday and thank you for your music.

  • int bono lush

  • Harlem has really been nicely transformed, I was there last week, I never thought New York could get better than it is, but by God it just gets better and better

  • but has lost its magic i love the new york of the 70s and 80s more urban!

  • this aged rather well

  • no angels in harlem just queens

  • Rattle and Hum proved that U2 has soul

  • my favourite U2 tune:) X

  • the beatles get a grip u2 is we2 us2 them 2 he 2 she 2 all of you

  • If the Beatles never existed I may not have been a white boy but a black boy instead.

  • Great song. Even better for me after the Berlin show 18/07/2009 where me + 2 friends got on stage and played this song together w/ U2! ;-)

  • tak to teda gratulace fakt dobrý

  • ...my nick says it all :))

  • If the Beatles never existed, I dont think 90% of bands that came after the Beatles would of existed.

  • all of you must realized, that U2 and Beatles are icons of theirs time and you coudnt compare then easily.

  • shit man this song is classic! and its fucking amazing!!!!!!! long life to U2

  • hello rocgrl87 I agree w/u but you know that "lennon boy" might have written this one maybe even that pretty faced friend of his might have helped?? Anyway..... he would have liked it . Just kidding about the pretty faced friend really......they were the 4 boys that shot the whale.

  • they are not bigger than the beatles.... ?? i cant believe you said or think that to be quite honest. theyll never be bigger than the beatles. the beatles were revolutionary. they wrote songs people still listen to daily, people still look back on them, the beatles changed things and made people stop and think and maybe even change themselves. the beatles made alot of music what it is today! U2 can only dream of being anything close. end of discussion!

  • idiot

  • riiiiiiiight

  • " NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE PREDICTIBILITY OF STUPIDITY "

the beatles were great but not as great as u2. their songs are played everywhere every single day much more than the beatles. they have been together much longer, they are much more relevant today than anyone else. or should i say were also i have to admit this last album is a weak ,but nevertheless their music has been the soundtrack of the last 30 years, turn on the tv or the radio you will not go by one day without hearing their music

  • U2 might be better than the beatles musically but they will never be bigger than the Beatles..its just a fact..

  • The Beatles was big but they didn't change rock as much as other bands at that time. Beatles were the mainstream, the cute boys at the time. But The Rolling Stones, The Who, Cream and Jimi Hendrix where those who really changed rock. And U2 is one of the greatest and biggest bands to come out of the 80's and they still keeps on producing songs that top the charts. The Beatles might have been good but over rated in my opinion.

  • Yeah, of course Hendrix is so important in the history of music, he invented how be famous just covering songs

  • Hendrix best known covers are Hey Joe and All Along the Watchtower, yes sometimes he covered other songs live but still you are very stupid if covers where all he did. Plus he is the most influential rock guitarist ever.

  • I don't understand why Bono had to wear a fedora for the Rattle and Hum sessions, it makes him look like Stevie Ray Vaughan. And while this is a good song, do you think it sounds a little too like "Like a Rolling Stone"?

  • They are without a doubt bigger than the beatles,if there ever is 4 horsemen, your looking at them.

  • that's truly ridiculous ....

    wow

  • i know the bibles all fukd up,and then you add an insane deranged psychopath, and walaa,a cereal killer

  • hmmm i don't know what you're talking about

and the bible isn't as you said it was

i was talking about your bigger than the beatles comment

that's stupid and if you think that, you can't argue your point because it's wrong anyway you wanna argue it

  • your joking right ? U2 is big, but bigger than the Beatles - creten 69 you got problems !!!

  • I was just saying anything to get u2s attention, because im the second coming ,and i'm really getting bored.

  • ohh yeah i can't wait to see them in milan...best band ever, ruttle and hum is their best job. with this song i fall in love with my girlfriend, u2 are the soundrack of my life. italy loves you guys. SOUL LOOOVE THIS LOVE WON'T LET ME GOOOO

  • last night at barcelona they sang this song in memory of michael jackson. great concert.

  • It was an afternoon of 2002. I was very sad. I had watched a girl I liked very much, walking with another guy. She was very beautiful for me, we spent tree dates together, but she preferred another.

I came back home; I put on my walkman "The best of 80-90". I started to listen this beautiful song. And I started to smile. "Nevermind", I thought dancing it.

    I was happy anyway.

She broke off with him few months later; I'm still together

with the girl better than her. I'm still happy. :-)

  • Good story man, dont know why I reply, but it made me smile man, good job. :-)

  • :-)

Well, just the way this song made me feel that time!

Thanks for your reply. Greetings from Italy!

  • Like your story. It's sometimes good if things DO NOT work out the way you thought they should. Congrats !

  • sounds like u won from ur story dude,, peace

  • You said it !

  • i think his first girl was angel from hell lmao.. then the real angel came to him... peace dude

  • It's a great song with great comments too ! Thanks !

  • good work

  • this song was based on that old guy playing a street band in Harlem from Rattle and Hum right

  • where have all the flowers gone. long may the late 80s aussies in LONDON be blessed by that Kiefer sutherland movie

  • this is one of the BEST ever heard this when i in Korea in 89.

  • this song is from their film "rattle and hum" for you kiddies that weren't born yet in 1989

  • seriously i didnt get what that viceo clip has to do with the music.

  • man i was expecting something something like a videoclip not a self biography collections of the places they toured.

    B.S.

  • this song just makes me think of happier times.. U2 took 2 chords and made a real gem. One of my favorite songs from them

  • God I love this song. Great production & build up in Bono's vocals and the lyrics.. Blue light on the avenue God knows they got to you An empty glass, the lady sings Eyes swollen like a bee sting Blinded you lost your way Through the side streets and the alleyway Like a star exploding in the night Falling to the city in broad daylight An angel in Devil's shoes Salvation in the blues You never looked like an angel Yeah, yeah Angel of Harlem... Sends shivers down my spine everytime!
  • ditto!!! i love this song!!

  • This song is loaded with soul!!

  • At the point of 1:21 in the music video, Bono looks so darling!

  • listen to the perusasions version of angle of harlem...i think they strait murdered the song its soo good.

  • one of U2's best- a fine tribute to Billie Holliday

  • I like the song, but I think bono's voice kinda detracts from the overall quality.

  • who do u want to sing it? celine dion?

  • Really, probably one of the most amazing songs ever sung by U2 :) So amazing, love it!

  • One of the most underrated songs from U2!

  • une belle chanson. Je suis sur

  • LOVE THIS!

  • Angels everywhere

  • This song is a tribute to Billie Holiday (seen in the video). She deserves it and much more... she brought emotion to singing. She had a very rough life. Good thing her beauty is still with us.

  • I love this song.......always did.

  • Beautiful song start to finish. The guitar part is also similar to "My Girl" by the Temptations. It can be easily blended. Look it up. Nonetheless, one of U2's shining moments.

  • U2 are the best band ever and i love the angel of harlem aint it an amazing song you got to agree!!!!!!

  • I don't know about the best but certainly one of the best!!

  • no i would definatly say the best!!! lol

  • This song reminds me of the Rolling Stones' "I'm Free"

  • the start of this song is the stone roses song, sugar spun sister.

  • I absolutely love this song... though I've only seen them perform it on Rattle and Hum...

  • beautiful song

  • wonderful

  • Such a beautiful song. I love it.

  • Bonita canción.

  • I love this song more than・・

  • Birdland on 53, streets sound like a symphony, we got JOHN COLTRANE and love supreme, Miles (Davis) says shes got to be a an Angel.

There you have it, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane and the uncomprable Miles Davis, probably the greatest Black artists of all time.

Jazz is America's greatest musical export!

  • One of my best friends got married, and this song was performed during her ceremony. (she and her new hubby met while living in Harlem) it was adorable.

  • Cool! Same here. :)

  • Angel of Harlem = Billie Holiday

  • It's a shame what hip hop has come too. Bono is from ireland, and at least he has the appreatiation for black blues artist from america. I could never see this coming from an emcee. To all you emcees out there, shame on you. A man has from ireland has more respect for music then you. I just could never see a song like this comin out of a rapper.

  • ~BOO YAH!!!!!!!

  • damn straight.

  • the intro to this song sounds like 'Like a Rolling Stone' by Bob Dylan.

  • Sure does sound a lot Dylan's "Rolling Stone" because I'm in a classic rock cover band and we do both and sometimes the guitar players will get the riffs to the other song in there by mistake.....

  • Sez who?

    Rich

  • oops, didn't you guys say that happened to ya? I thought you guys said that?... hmmmm

  • that's true

  • i'm not hot on u-2 either but they were piping this song one day while i walked thru central park and it stuck to me. one of their best, as somebody said.

  • i dont like how to dimentale an atomic bomb but i love rattle and hum and under a blood red sky and silver and gold great band though love this song

  • maybe so...but edge definately did a much better job mate!

  • Obviously a great track - BUT the guitar riff intro is a blatent theft from the classic "Pretty Flamingo" by 'Manfred Mann' - Check it out for yourself on Youtube !

  • what agreat song and yeah 80s u2 is definatley the best but they had a couple of decent tunes in the 90s and 00s 2

  • great music

  • I like this song. I think 80's U2 is better than the 90's or 2000's U2. My favorite songs by them were in the 80's.

  • Tou're right but it's the best group. JP

  • People always talk about "With or Without You" or "One" or "Pride (In The Name of Love)" when they talk about U2. Rarely do they mention this tune. I think this is one of their all-time bests. Wonderful accompaniment. Great arrangements. One of Bono's best performances. A brilliant song from one of the world's best bands ever.

  • A few others like this one are "Miracle Drug", "A Room at the Heartbreak Hotel" etc

  • I am not a big fan of U2, but this song is unique. This is one of my favs from the 80's, takes me back to a simpler time in my life.

  • This song cuts me to the core. Excellen
