  • At 2:04 it looked like they were pole dancing

  • wait....what does saint patrick have to do with drinkin?

  • @scarface12347 he was up for the crack like us all

  • @scarface12347 absolutely feckin' nothin! ... but Ireland doesn't have a real 'Independence Day' to celebrate, (even though The Irish Free State was established in 1921, but they didn't get complete independance from England so it's a bit of a sore spot)... so they use St. Patrick's Day as a national holiday.... and the rest of the world uses it as an excuse to 'get locked' because they think that's what it means to be Irish.

  • @Siobanphotogirl 'ireland didnt get complete independence from england' ??? eh yes we did! thats how we have our own government!! and we're not part of the commonwealth like other countries like eh...canada. and we do have an independence day its celebrated on easter sunday or sometime around there, it wasnt done for years but it was brought back a few years back. also it hasnt been called the Free State since the 1930 when it was declared a Republic.

  • @jenster29 it's not complete independence for the whole country... . You didn't get the Republic with the Treaty of 1921 that Collins brought home because De Valera knew he wouldn't be able to bring home good news. There are still the 6 counties in the North that are under British rule. did you not notice that? The fact that on a map, Northern Ireland is a different color from the rest of Ireland, and the same color as 'Great' Britain? The Easter Rising of 1916 was not a great success!

  • Comment removed

  • @Siobanphotogirl btw dont be talking to me about Collins and De Valera coz u seen a movie about it...we know the rising wasn't an immediate success but it was the catalyst for our freedom and independence thats why we consider it special. thats why we have an independence day. De Valera declared us seperate in 1937 and we were officially declared a republic since 1949. but then i suppose u didnt know that much coz the movie didnt go that far into it.

  • @jenster29 why is it that a Canadian seems to know more about your country's history than you seem to?

  • @Sioban jaysus ye gobshite, the question is: why is it a canadian seems to THINK she knows more about my country. The north has nothing to do with the REPUBLIC we want nothing to do with it, havent for a long time.to go back to ur first wrong point: The REPUBLIC of Ireland is a completely independent country! when people talk about Ireland they are referring to the republic excluding the northeastern UK ruled part. and whats with the map talk? are u 12?

  • @jenster29 er, not quite as clear cut as that. Lots of people up north would disagree with u on that.

  • @Bumblybee256 Here here! We are still an occupied nation!

  • @Bumblybee256 nothing ever is...but a lot of people in the republic would agree with me! some people on both sides like to still bring religion into things, catholic/protestants etc...or a bit like u hating muslims??? is that coz ur an expert on the matter?

  • @jenster29 I never said all people disagreed, did I? Lol, since when did hating an ideology mean hating people? Clutching at straws and getting a bit defensive there are we?

  • @Bumblybee256 i never said u did, please reread what I wrote, & child no I dont get offended by uneducated people u are smply amusement to me, as you dont know any better. reciting a line said by most right wing politicians i.e. 'hating an ideology but not the people' is very unoriginal & doesnt make sense. if u hate an ideoogy, u automatically hate the people who follow it whether u realize it or not , just as u are associated with a hateful ideology u will also be considered a hateful person.

  • @jenster29 I understand what you wrote perfectly. Being patronising will not make you right. Yes yes, I'll remind myself how uneducated I am while I study for my university summer exams lol. And you really are clutching at straws now- trying to tell who who I hate. Of course I hate an ideology that treats my gender like livestock, but do I hate the muslim girl in my english class in india? No. Very simple.

The fact you've had to go this far off topic shows how insecure you were to begin with.

  • @Bumblybee & now i KNOW ur a child if ur now only doing uni exams,& by stating that THAT makes u educated proves to me even more ur not, academic experience is only ONE way to be educated. does ur classmate know u spread hatred against her religion & so making her more oppressed?? not all muslims live by outdated rules in koran same way many christians dont with bible. go now & look for people who have diff opinions to u, so u can 'prove' them 'wrong', coz u have all the answers to life

  • @jenster29 Well, now it's quite clear you don't have a university education, given that you obviously don't know people of all ages go. I know, imbecile, that's why I don't hate them, only the book itself. Now I know you can't read? What classmate? Go through life making it all up do you? Figures. Enjoy your life alone. Bye bye.

  • @Bumblybee256 btw.i aint replying again to a tweenager, go get some REAL life experience and maybe you can be at my level of communication....LMAO.... enoy hating...

  • these kids are from the north inner city.it was recorded in old rutland street primary school, about 40yrs ago

  • fantastic

  • "your not going to get away with this being mean to poor patrick" Oh that God is a saint

  • ... and evely night and evely day and evely morn he said over a hundred players to God. And when he be aflaid... This is really cute! Love her accent and her vivid way of telling the story.

  • Patrick preached against slavery , making him one of the first abolitionists.

He is the patron saint of "immigrants" and new beginnings, So sad that people never learn about the man, and Why march 17th is so special.

  • Funny how people don't understand the little girl. I'm Finnish and not the best in english but I still understand her very clearly.

  • i could listen it all day) Its a bit hard for me to understand though - most of it is like blah-blah-blah to me))

  • I really love this accent, where is it!?

  • @maricristinacastel It's a north side/ inner city Dublin accent

  • @ardeestephen100 south side believe it or not haha in the liberties :)

  • Comment removed

  • colinjohnedwards; I'm from N. Ireland and have to disagree with you. The English may have oppressed us but they have not fucked us up. There is no bloody way they have broken our spirits, so piss off.

  • Hard 2 follow but St Patric i think he drove the snakes out of iraland

  • ok im fed up with this i wana know who st patricks i know that the history get changed i wana hear it from a true irish man southern not northern i know that british have fd them an i have alot of respect for the irish gorilla armys i saw a small post about him driving the snakes out which to me ties in with illumanati stuff but i would like to hear it from an old bloke not some little kids hearing it from there teach that gets it from the govenment ffffs

  • @colinjohnedwards why on earth are you trying to figure out historical facts on youtube?

  • I am am Irishman named Patrick and my family is from Ballycastle. We fled the troubles iin 71 for Canada.Ballycastle is very near CroaghPatrick the mountain Patrick was imprisoned on.I'm afraid this is a myth my friend but combines many truths.Ireland is free of snakes because it is the blessed Isle the only part of Atlantis that didn't sink. The sorcerers used magic to protect it against attack from the serpents they warred with.Read the ancient Gaelic record it goes back 50,000 years.God bless.

  • @colinjohnedwards Read "How the Irish Saved Civilization" by Thomas Cahill. It will tell you a lot about Patrick and his influence on society both ancient and modern.

  • Figures idiots would swarm even an innocent video like this to rant and pontificate how horrible Catholicism and Christian beliefs are. I honestly think some people aren't happy unless they're raining on someone else's parade.

  • at first I thought this said "give up your Anus" imagine my disappointment.

  • Oh please, stop it already with nonsense of "religious brainwashing"!!!! For all of you nagging about that, here's a newsflash; there were tons of schools were you as a pupil really enjoyed listening to the teacher talking about the Bible and all and by the sound of this girl's narration, her school seems like one of those schools. So, don't automatically bash all Catholic schools will, you. Thanks a lot!!!

  • I love this series!

  • hello family

  • go up dere and mind all dem lambs n sheeps and cows n all xD

  • christoir246: in dublin there are two nain types of accents. the accent you heard ther which is the older one but its still around and then theres the ever spreading d4 accent which is the really posh one.

  • "Even Dough' you're smart, it takes ye seven years, t' be a priest !!" I just love that part :D adorable!

  • im not from dublin but im just wonderin why you wouldn hear this accent much ne more, dublin accent seems to hav gotten very posh.

  • All the rough areas in Dublin have people with these accents

  • iv now realises thats the working class dublin accentsthe proper dubs, the d4 accent is all the posh ones who think their american.

  • no,

  • ...Christians can't bring drought... that's a natural phenomena... LMAO

  • ...?

  • Is that really from the 60s?

It's weird. My granny talks the way that kid talks.

"But sure, didn't he go up the mountain..." lol, typical way of saying it lol. You wouldn't catch a child speaking like that nowadays like.

  • FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love it and i love the new youtube on St. Patrick's day! happy St. Patrick's day to ya all youtubers!

  • Yeah.......i'm an Irish Catholic and this is touching. The Innocence of children is astounding.

    Matthew 18:1-4

"At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven"

    Happy St. Paddy's

    Cheers

  • OMGOSH!!!

I got this from my Aunt in Ireland.

    I LOVE IT!

  • @maureenOWW Most current research indicates that he was in fact a Briton, from Brittany, recognize the familiar name? Patrick was likely from the coast of France given his pre-slave name and the fact that the peoples of the west coast of England at the time were mostly cornish celts, the britons in England lived in remote and hard to reach places in modern day wales and weren't enslaved very often.

  • @Squatch347 I think people from Brittany are called Bretons?

And also from my reading, it seems that Patrick was of part of the Romanised community in western Britain (probably South Wales) hence the name Magonus Saccatus Patricius. It's more probable that he was British because of it's proximity to Ireland and also as the withdrawal of Roman legions at the start of the 5th century encouraged the Irish to raid the coast which would coincide with the date of his capture.

  • He was most certainly the child of Romanized people, either in Britain or Normandy. The Roman legions had also largely withdrawn from the coast of Gaul by that period and were a shadow of their former selves. Likewise his education tends to indicate a more formal educative system rather than the southern scot or somewhat romanized britain that is so often thought of .

The point itself is relatively minor though as his actions post capture are the most important.

  • Why does every SINGLE video that even skirts Christianity have to have a boatload of comments discounting it. Look, if you're not a christian or don't believe, or don't want to learn or whatever, then go watch other video about something other then christianity and leave your comments there. You only comment here to start fights and arguments. It's ridiculous and immature.

  • YragTrebor--You put it so well, and without the rancor that I might have fallen into. Kudos to you!

  • Beautiful ... really enjoyed it!!!

    Thank you for posting!

  • This series of video's is charming, and the children's portrayal of Jesus and his life show us the beauty and innocence of children, and how open they are to THE TRUTH. Children whose parents don't take their children to church are left foundering, with no baseline, no reason for kindness and ethical behavior

  • Both I and my friend Dimon have never been inside a church and our parents have taught us how to love and appreciate being loved regardless to what you think. Hang on to your imaginary friends, if that's what it takes for you not to fly off the handle.

I think this animation is seriously radical because Jesus is black and no matter how awesome girls are at spiritual work, in the eyes of a church they will always be inferior to men, and that just shows how crippling indoctrination can be.

  • Your comment is the exact kind of ridiculous ignorance which pervades most religionists with regard morals and ethics of those of children and families who do not share your ridiculous superstitious bullshit. It was been proven that anyone can tell wrong from right regardless of wether they have any religion or not. Go back to the middle ages where you belong.

  • I'm an atheist but I find that christianity, if practiced like it should be, is a very beautiful and inspiring religion. I also love the fact that christianity was brought to Ireland (where I'm from) because it helped them a lot. Ireland ftw!

  • How do you know it helped them a lot? All history and stories about Ireland were recorded by Christian Monks under the influence of Rome. If your on a mission to conquer a land and a people you make sure they sound like barbarians, not humans who love their land and the spirits of nature. Just like the Native Americans, for hundereds of years we believed they were barbarians, that is the only way the powers in control at the time could justify killing them and taking their land.

  • My point isn't who is right or wrong, just that you are ignorant and intolerant. The religion isn't to blame, just the generic idiots that humans tend to be, as you have also proven with your angry outbursts.

  • i luv this film!!! they r sooo cute!!!!!!!!! my mother has an accent like that

  • speaking of intolerance and ignorance...

  • i love the animation, and the person as the voice of mary sounds and talks just like a child! love the animation on every vid. GREAT JOB!

  • It is a child's voice, the animation was made according to the child's story.

  • shutup and watch it like

  • And again, you show your foolishness by resorting to profanities and name calling rather than to reasoned debate. If you can't make your point any better than that, then why even try? You only come off sounding desperate. Besides, it was over 1,500 years ago. Why are you getting so steamed over it now? Do you imagine that anyone besides you cares? Or can do much of anything about it? Go find a hobby, or listen to some music, or take a nap. You need to work on that stress, buddy!

  • Oh, grow up, will you? A culture is not a static thing, but one that grows and develops over time. It's never wiped out totally, but assimilates and accomodates and morphs, bringing in new and discarding old. You are a pie-eyed romantic who has gilded a non-existant past, in reality, one of illiteracy, barbarism, superstition, and fear. Pre-Christian Ireland was no more an Eden than pre-Western America was. My Irish ancestors benefitted from Christianity and all it brought with it. So did yours.

  • The Captain gives me an Arab vibe.

    Evil Viking-Arabs. lol

  • ah but he didnt close the pubs now did he? so the culture still flourishes. specially in New York City.

    (smile)

  • yes.................American 'Irish'....

  • You've got it backwards, Katherine. If someone actually did rise from the dead right in front of me, I'd have to rethink my beliefs. You, on the other hand, would scoff at Vishnu even if he appeared in front of you and proved himself capable of everything the Christian God is.

Saying you're able to choose but closing yourself to all other possibilities is like voting based only who's on top of the ballot list. You're not really choosing at all.

BTW, doesn't sound to me like you're at peace ;)

  • Lol This video has brought about massive amounts of religious debate..who care tbh :P Believe in what you want..Don't look down on someone because they believe something which you don't. believing in something, even if you think its crazy, comforts people. I personally am not religious in the slightest but that doesn't mean I go around shunning peoples beliefs. Now to the point..Cute animation :P

  • If you want to take your anger out on kids, for whatever reason, then you are just pathetic.

  • Last I checked most Irish are grateful to St Patrick for rescuing them from the pagan darkness, judging from the size of St Patrick's Day parades around the world. People bitter against St Pat are in the teeny tiny minority.

  • Right, who did you check with? And what pagan 'darkness'?

St Patrick's day parades are merely tradition, very little thought actually goes into history and to be fair many are bigger outside Ireland. Like American ones, which exist purely to make 'Irish' Americans feel more Irish.

  • so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • your god has caused all suffering and wars. the shit you believe was made roman propaganda updated by english aristos to suit them.how doyou know they werent literate before? their beliefs were destroyed by your cack.we all had our own gods and goddesses and could believe in all until this christian and jewish demon made it all one . globalisation killed our real spirit. the crap you spew is from a book. real spirituality is from life . your god is moloch in disguise

  • My, benthehoose! Such eloquence! You ought to consider a career as a public speaker. Seriously, though, your note here says quite enough about you personally, that I need add nothing else, except that, were our places exchanged, I'd be ashamed of being so bigoted and narrow of mind. Believe what you wish, but at least give others the right to do likewise without heaping the sewage of your invective on them. It truely would speak better of you, and you could use the self-improvement.

  • Very clever! I have four kids (yeah, i;m half irish my parents had 12!!!)and i love how kids tell stories from their understanding and perspective. If we listen to them we can learn something. Funny St. Pat's mom looks just like Mary from the John the Baptist short! hee hee.

  • The story of St. Patrick is the story of the genocide of Irish culture by an alien teaching that has NO BUSINESS IN EIRE. Snakes aren't snakes, snakes are the "devils" of traditional Irish religion, proud teachings of ancient origin that today we know nearly nothing about thanks to the church. We as a people suffer from an identity crisis. We have no idea who we are or where we come from, who our fathers' fathers' were and what they stood for. Thanks, Jesus! *makes a rude gesture*

  • This just reminds me a good quote from a government official of Ireland

"If you wish to spin an Irishman on the spit, there's always another Irishman willing to do it"

  • So sorry you feel that way. Maybe another way of looking at it would be your 'ancestors' were searching & using various incatations etc, to get in touch with "deity" &when the Faith was brought some felt it was the fulfilment of what they'd had planted as seed by their parents &grandparents etc...

Spend time with yourself without distractions ( 1hour a day 4instance) LOOK into your heart, then you'll know who you are, the way you've come & what you stand(or fall) for...!

    Love and blessings...X

  • The conversion of Ireland was the only time an entire people accepted Christ without one drop of blood being shed. After they became Christians, they became literate, and were the guardians for several hundred years of the written knowledge of Western Civilization. We have Plato, Aristotle, and countless more voices from antiquity because God brought the Irish to Himself at the particular time and in the particular manner He did, for His glory, and for the benefit of all mankind. Thank you, God!

  • back in those days ireland had shitloads of snakes, I mean millions. It was a massive problem. Luckily st patrick got rid of them all. :D

    :D

  • Yeah, do you know what happened to all those Irish snakes? I do, they went to Paris!

  • I really like this series. I'm amazed though, at how many griping kids are out there writing negative comments. I'd recommend you read more, blog less and get to asking more existential questions. Your ignorant, judgemental attitudes are just...annoying!

  • thank you!!! i couldnt agree more!!! people just suck...

  • My son watched this and just said it was awesome so i have to agree with him and all. Thanks

  • Why are you people making this into a debate?! I like these stories, and I'm agnostic myself! I think these animations with the voiceovers are very artistic. And I don't even really believe in the bible.

You people are idiots. Complete idiots. You're making something out of nothing.

  • One could probably have recorded something very similar thirty years on, when I was going to Primary School. When I think about it, we really did learn a disproportionate amount of religious stuff back then. I'm not sure, but I think it remains that way to this day, though the grip the Catholic church used to have on this nation does seem to have loosened.

  • I love these shorts! And I actually learned something from the little kid talking. I honestly didn't know anything about st. Patrick before. Other then that he makes the River in Chicago turn green every St. Patrick's day. They must have left that part out of the animation.

  • Whatever the rights and wrongs of religion may or may not be, and I identify myself as atheist, I feel strongly that things must be judged of their time, not ours: our opinions have evolved and so the notion of viewing freaks in the asylums is repugnant, but not in Victorian days, for example.

Similarly, the audio for these shorts is from a poor inner city school in Dublin in the 60s, when religion ruled Ireland unremittingly and in the old style.

    And anyway, they're utterly charming.

  • Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, the only way to God the Father. For any believer, no matter how tangental, to tell anyone anything else is the ultimate evil. And for any Christian to be anything but a suffering, sacrifical servant to any unbeliever, no matter how evil that unbeliever may behave toward the Christian, is the second greatest sin a Christian can commit. Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship with Jesus.

  • ahh Christianity is a relationship with your fellow man...

  • Christianity requires a harmonious relationship with one's fellow man, yes. Or at least the attempt to live harmoniously, since we can never control another person, or dictate their actions or attitude.

  • amkaen - No it doesn't, all it requires is belief without evidence, that's called faith. You can say what you like, its all imaginary. There is no god, there never has been. Dream on.

  • amkaen - I'm just wondering what it is like to have a relationship with something that does not exist? I can certainly imagine a lot of things but I haven't been conditioned yet to believe that the bibical fairytales are real. Hey you know I just worked it out!!! Its because there is no god.

  • That's your experience. Just because others have other experiences doesn't mean they're not just as real, just different. They don't go looking for it - it's revealed. Darwin told a story about evolution, the world believed HIM, but that's never been proved either. Why don't trees take energy from neighbours, grow taller& bigger,& all around that are puny, die out? They live happily side by side (why can't we?). Still, there's more questions than answers, &that's how it will always be.

  • Katherine0108 - You have a really simple view of the world, its kinda cute.

  • You're cute too, MM (what's in a name?!?) You are indvidual, special, unique & part of the whole of time and space.

Life and love find you; How you live that life and give your love is your choice, as is mine. I try and make the most beautiful choices I can, to create more love and life, until we outgrow our bodies, & like the butterflies we are (metaphorically speaking!)FLY! Re-read the words of Jesus, He points The way. Become who U R! YOUR CHOICE- Love to you MacroMeat, & ALL CREATION. XXX

  • "Why don't trees take energy from neighbours"...lol....search the internet ..best bet would be to read up about how a retreating glacier leaves behind a scene where primary and secondary succession occur..(Evolution is similarly supported, just more complicated to follow...)The problem is, though, that science is HARD, and a lot of people prefer stories....why should I respect a perspective that replaces difficult truths with simple stories, and excuse it as simply 'different experiences'

  • One must wonder, then, why you frequent these videos, seeing as how they are not in keeping with your particular beliefs. Is it that you hope to change people's minds? Or do you just like to "stick pins", as my Scottish grandfather might have said? What do you have to offer in exchange for belief in Jesus? Probably "rational thought", huh? Well, good luck with that. I've found that it leaves a lot unexplained. You probably will, too, one day. I hope it's not too late.

  • I agree amkaen.. rationalism has always been a philsophical dead end.. logic can't prove itself. more stuff in the universe. Anyway, there seems to be a lot of emotional baggage behind all these negative comments. i hope these guys learn to lighten up.

  • Hi Macro! How's things? A reply to this post...Q. But how do I know YOU exist? How do I know it's even a person reading this and replying? I don't! I just believe there is a man (are you a man?) sitting at a computer somewhere in this world posting his(!) beliefs.

Still, I'm having some kind of relationship with you. So it must be true... That's how it is for me with God. Take care. X X X
