  • i remember it well god i am old

  • 10 minutes of British commercials, and not a single one of The Beatles?!?! This isn't so!

  • 09:10 Does he say "this is what we were after - the hair colours of sewage" ?? LoL XD

  • All Bran .....I wouldn't even feed it to cows XD

07:38 Messerchmitt bubble car. One front opening door and no reverse. Drive it up against the wall of a garage and you'd be trapped until discovered ! XD

  • BLOW BLOW BLOW as hard as you like you'll never BLOW through soft scotties. ;DD

  • 5 Park Drive a shilling :)

  • Watch out - the Mrs Flash Van is coming your way! What were these people on?

  • Very nice to listen to clearly enunciated English.

  • @lolguymilne So does all my friends, including me. :D

  • and they think it all started with the MAD MEN....bollocks.british advertising was decades ahead of american adverts.

  • I wouldn't go back, although it was nice in some ways, and hardly any cars. It was also VERY VERY BORING. Shops were always shut. No restaurants. Food - very restricted range. No music on the radio till the pirates came in 1964. Sundays were GHASTLY - nothing on telly till evening. Only 2 channels. Both full of terrible comedy and so-called variety shows. Really terrible stuff - Black & White Minstrels and all that. Vile pap. Cars were cute though, and more buses.

  • @muscleco Though I do agree with you in some ways, I do wish I could go back to those more simpler times when people especially children had respect for each other, you could have the minstrels on the telly without being branded racist, what was on the telly wasn't filth and Sundays were still a peaceful day of rest and relaxation.

  • 4:55

    it said gay

    meaning happy

  • @TheSupermagic1994 What a rarity! I really wish that could happen know. People seem to think it's an insult nowadays......... :/

  • Love the cars at 7:35, Heinkel Trojan and Messerschmitt KR200. We own a few of kr200s ourselves! Even the 4 wheeler model, with a twin cylinder 500cc engine.

It made a lvely whistle when it worked!

  • I wonder how "simple" the question was that the housewives had to answer to win money and a mop from Mrs. Flash? "How tall is the Duke of Windsor?"

  • a 56 page special about On The Buses? the horror...

  • The On The Buses magazine was 15p on the cover but you'd have paid 3s. for it. It came out in March 1970 almost a year before D-(Decimalisation) Day.

  • @moveitbetts

5p and 10p coins had already been out for a couple of years, so it was perfectly possible to pay for it with a 5p and a 10p- if a book about "On the Buses" was indeed your cup of tea.

  • @bondsee

Yes, people used to be DECENT...Britain used to be considered GREAT...it's dross like you that contaminates it now.

  • I can't believe David Jacobs left his wife alone like that.

  • upper class arseholes

  • does mr flash drive the special mrs flash van?

  • @lolguymilne

I did live in those times but hey were hard, and these ads aren't quite representative of the majority of homes and people at the time, most of who had outdoor toilets and no bathrooms or proper heating, sweet rationing only ended in the fifties!.

  • I was 9 years old before I saw a black person

  • @incongra ...lucky you

  • the kitkat looks so worth your while

  • let all the good people go back to the better times, and leave all the drug addicts/pushers,muggers,paedo's and european immigrants behind, but most of all the the corrupt government

  • Ah the 50's 60's and 70's the best times of my life.

  • I did live in this time. It was a time of innocence when compared to today.

  • @lolguymilne Me too, its boring and horrible and colourless now. Take me back : )

  • Hadn't seen that public service broadcast about rude motoring for years. Its message is more relevant now then when it was first shown in the late 50's early 60's. Who has not seen a "Road Hog" motorist, or considered turning into Lucifer, when crossing a road is only possible with a little give or take. It is comforting to know that RR is not a modern invention

  • Look at those Black Magic! I want to buy a box like that now! lol and those KitKays - they look gigantic!!

  • @pluto1111777 complete with smouldering filterless cigarette on the piano, ahh yes the good old days!

  • Look at those Black Magic! I want to buy a box like that now! lol

  • MRS. Flash lol lol...Sea Witches...who makes this stuff up? Gotta love it! Oh - and I remember when KitKats were wrapped in foil. Wish we could have those days back...

  • @2079423644 Kit Kats are still wrapped in foil - except the Chunky ones.

  • @Granitoons

Lucky you - they do things right across the pond!

  • when your nose is snotty, wipe it on a scottie!

  • I would never be able to live in this time lol. To many devote religious people by percentage.

  • Stay regular with All Bran ;D)

  • now i see where Monty Python got most of their material

  • LOL my mums uncle ray was in on the buses

  • That three some in the bubble car is a non starter!

  • Mr Flash was sacked for taking his job too literally!!

  • Christ Olive On The Buses scrubs up well! You would!

  • David Jacobs is chased from the kitchen at 2.02!

  • Reg Varney's holiday haunt was in Malta!

  • my mum wouldn't let me watch "on the buses"

  • is it just me or do those Kit Kats in his hand look massive?!

  • I wont be rude on the road!

  • haha i love the idea of the kitchen left like the battlefield of waterloo after wellington had left it hahaha but anyway use polyroll to clean it up hahaha

  • I'm still waiting for Mrs Flash to arrive in my street....

  • The Players cigarette advert is shocking! Promoting smoking and making it look sexy is unthinkable in today's politically correct times.

  • @UKSazzy67 Politically correct times? Where?? Like invading countries illegally and murdering hundreds of thousands of innocent civillians? Yeah, very politically correct. Riiiight.

  • lolguymilne,if you lived in those times, you would not have been able to watch you tube or post comments!! seriously, i do get your point. i was growing up in the 70's and remember it fondly.people earned less, but were happier and they respected each other.the cars didnt look too bad either.i remember my orange morris marina quite often. sigh!!

  • i loved those old days.you can keep your brazilians and landing strips.give me a good old bushy 70s style fanny any day of the week

  • AGREE SHAM, great days free from all the humourless ,political crap of today, long live the bush

  • AGREE SHAM, great days, free from all this humourless. politically correct crap of today. Long live the bush.

  • me too. I hate modern life

  • modern britain is a shithole. it needs to go back to like this

  • Blimey, if you tried telling car drivers "don't be rude" here in NY, you'd end up with a bullet up your arse!

  • Its like that in england now days but would probably be a gun

  • Mrs Flash? ROFLMAO - should have been a squadron of ladies in fur coats (and no knickers).........bet the lads would have liked that better than a stupid old mop and ten quid!

  • Im afraid you cant Double Diamond isnt brewed any more allegedly, and thats why the lads dress lake lases these days. TUT TUT TUT> As fro them women on the rocks, they look like they had their hair donee in Burnley last week.

  • DOUBLE TWO!!!

  • Great stuff, especially the last two. I"m going to rub Double Diamond on my chest to increase the number of hairs on my chest

  • great stuff...thanks!!

  • double diamond "the beer the men drink",

it would have been even better if they had put some alcohol in it !!.

  • The lady in the kit kat ad is actress Moira Redmond.

  • And only 15p LOL

  • Oooooo, Reg Verney from On The Buses does it for me. All that hair grease really gets a girl going..

  • and our Ethel..wow she was hot babe..thise specs made me quiver with..aaaarrgghhh!!

  • I spotted a Lotus 7 in the Mrs Flash ad. How cool is that. The rest of the ad was rubbish.

  • Black Magic choccies...i forgot about 'em!

  • Don't be rude on the road? hahaha. Be rude somewhere else?

  • Some of these ads wouldn't go to air these days. You can't say that "this is a beer for men!" You can't imply that a beer improves your masculinity, or chances with women.

  • The mother in the 'Scotties' ad is a young Francesca Annis!

  • Excuse me... did he say...

"This is what we've been waiting for. The hair -colours of sewage?"

I played it over & over & it still sounds like it !

  • ha ha, it does sound like sewage. It's Sea Witch, I remember that was a hair dye around years ago.

  • David "Juke Box Jury" Jacobs at 2.00

  • That's the great Kenneth Horne in 'Sauce For The Gander'!

  • @OldSetonian And Eleanor Summerfield on his right. She was married to Leonard Sachs of The Good Old Days. Ever noticed how Harry Locke is in EVERY British film of the 40's and 50's, usually as a doorman, general factotum etc?

  • I loved on the Buses!!

I'm researching British Adverts at the moment. If anyone has any unusual or rare footage of Ads from the 50s 60s 70s. It's hard to find them, does anyone know of any that aren't on youtube?

    Elizabeth de Villiers

    London UK

  • Elizabeth, Try uTorrent, good luck!

  • Bring back the Routemasters!

  • Thay are thinking about it.

  • Mrs Flash would get a Asbo these days!

  • 1:08 sorry but that's just offensive to men. Spending too much, every pot and pan, messing up kitchens, cannot do simple cooking, women clear up. HAHAHAHAA. I'm the one who wears the apron in my house!!!!

  • takes HAIR down*

  • lol the hair dye advert! i mean, just how unreal is that, *suddenly takes her down rocks fall, and the men are blinded!* wtf?! AND its only semi-permanant!

  • I'll get you Butler!

  • £10 and a mop, that's kind of Mrs. Flash.

  • She would have been mugged in this day and age having all that money lying around in the back of the van lol

  • Is that Judy Dench narrating the commercial at 4:53?

  • How wonderfull. More please.

  • When,s the Flash van coming?. £10 and a mop must be worth having.

  • I love the end on the black magic add and the first words said are. "Can't be good for you, can it"

  • I'm an American but I liked On the Buses and Doctor in the House. Nice to know you Brits had to put up with TV ads too!

  • takes me back in time lol the adds arent the same nowdays thanks i enjoyed watching them

  • Black magic is my mums favourite ahh.

whatever happend to the old fashioned Queens English on TV! bring it back

  • hahaha lol this is jokes

  • double two! Double Two! DOUBLE TWO!! lol. Seawitch isn't exactly an enticing name for hair dye is it?

  • Black magic used to steal these chocolates from my nan at christmas ha ha

  • Fantastic. This stuff is great. Brings back lots of memories from my days as a kid in Dublin.

  • These adverts are pure gold, where did you get them all from?

  • TV Heaven (Channel 4 1992).
