@112358miau Sure, from least gain to most is: RC, AC and BB. The RC is good for clean boost and low gain overdrive. The AC has more compression like the VOX AC series and the BB is more agressive like an old Marshall Blues Breaker.
@DarkAngelEU I like parts of the PGS shootout against... which ever pedal that was. I believe in those segments the gain and treble were turned down a bit. Then pushing the preamp or run into a second pedal could help making the tone smoother too.
I have a digitech Bad Monkey (which is basically an amazing TS clone) and it too has bass and treble controls for the EQ...and I have to say that pedals with this kind of EQ have always worked the best for me and are the most versatile.
I absolutely love this pedal - Ive used it with all of my Guitars and Amps with great results. This thing just sings with my Les Paul / Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (Clean Channel). Especially if you add a Ernie Ball volume pedal (Jr.) in the effects loop of the amp... The AC Booster sounds equally good in front of my 60s Gibson GA15RVT with the LP or Tele. I'm chucking my Tube Screamer - for what I need this does the trick.
I know that a lot of people have compared the AC Booster to a Tubescreamer - try them back to back because they sound quite different. The AC Booster has better eq controls and a smoother od than a TS but to each their own.
I've used my AC Booster with my Strat to get every famous Rolling Stone guitar sound except for the heavy fuzz tone of Satisfaction. I use my Fuzz Face RI for that one.
The AC is probably the most versatile pedal I own.
I have an older AC Booster from about 4 years ago and it has a different switch that is not as thick and the little Light thing is not at the top but right above my foot switch
Two different animals. The OCD is a modified Rat (It sounds much better), but the AC is sort of Tube Screamer like pedal. The AC definately 'feels' better to play than the OCD but this is totally a matter of taste and application. The OCD to me sounded great in front of Marshalls. The AC sounded awesome in front of Fenders. Just go try them out...
this guy who makes custom pedals at this place called cmatmods told me that the ocd was a voo doo labs copy. i don't think that the rat and ocd sound alike at all.
That gives me a funny idea. It would be kinda funny if somebody built this pedal "into" a guiter, kind of like a built in preamp. Just plug into any little amp, hit a switch on the guitar and bam. Tone controls would be on the body. It would be funny, picture some guy messing with an amp says "not enough dirt" then you go to the same amp, hit your switch and the guy is like "wtf"
from what i could gather this is more of an overdrive than a boost pedal as it adds quite bit of gain and compression. If you want "clean boost with benefits" you might wanna check out the RC booster.
Andy, please make demo about Suhr pedals!
And also if you know what is better Xotic AC Boost or Suhr Shuba Drive? I can't dicede!
Thank you!

@proguitarshopdemos Would this work well with a JHS double barrel? I could use the AC boost just to roll up or down on treble and bass mainly.

could i use a distortion pedal on top of this?
wintdoofwint 5 months ago
Hi guys,
I use a Fender Jaguar and play rhythm for which I like a low gain overdrive but then I need a little boost for lead lines.
Therefore, for me, would you recommend the RC for rhythm and maybe an AC for boost?

Can someone tell the diferences between AC, RC and BB?

PGS, I have a question for you:
Does the new Xotic AC Booster Plus have the same circuitry as this pedal, plus more? Or is it different?

This is a truly amazing overdrive. Smooth and creamy. A Rangemaster in front of this sounds tremendous!!!

Would this work in the Netherlands.....how to?
spareaxe 2 years ago 2
Buy a bunch of 9v batteries from America with your pedal.
ChonnyChimole 2 years ago
Why wouldnt it work in Ned?
Your batteries are the same as anyone elses.
I buy loadsa pedals from the US and im in the UK.
Just ditch the US ACadapter and use a Ned' one
spratty59 2 years ago 2
It'll work fine, you just need a pedal power supply for your country.
doogdoogdoog 2 years ago
No, dude. I don't think it would rock quite as hard once you take it outside the U.S.

i hate to sound like a novice,
but im currently using an EH linear power booster just as a boost for my solos, to get my guitar over the mix
im guessing this pedal will do the same, except maybe shape my solo tone a bit more?
