Really you can do what you want, you can make a battlefleet and conquer sectors, or build a trading empire and get rich, or cruise around doing missions and assassinations, or be a pirate and steal ships and goods.

@HelmutVillam Bough this game and I just dont get it. The "crash course" intro into the game is horrible at best. They basically throw you in with some crappy intro missions that just leaves you more confused than when you start. It looks amazing, but for new players its more confusing than Eve. Heck, it took me over an hour to figgure out how to repair apparently 1% of my ship hp, as that was all I could afford it seems..

yes that is without a doubt the number 1 downfall of this game. If you haven't played previous X games then you're in the dark. Check the Egosoft forums for a number of good starter guides.

(1) Space is the unknown, we know it is there and we all dream of getting off Earth one day to explore space to possible find life and prove we are not alone. Others like space because it IS humanities future.

(2) Because you are weightless...

(3) Same as number one, it allows us to pretend we are in space.

(4) The new international space station needs to rotate to create artificial gravity meaning it also needs to be round.

(5) Bright colors, real science, and less fighting.

@Essefen there are mini plots in the game such as the terran story to to find out what those crazy space toasters are up to. and there is the argon mission where defend a sector then scout a sector. its leading up to something i know it. but i found the fun in trying to create my huge armada.. which currenty consists of 2 ships. but im getting there. ive spent 20 hours trading, building, stealing. and that is where the fun is. yes reunion had a longer more storyer story. but its a sandbox game!

I just love this game, also almost always go Argon although I do love the Yaki ships for style. It can seem kind of lifeless at times but it's moments when a massive Kha'ak fleet jumps into a sector and you high tail it out of there only to see a massive response fleet on it's way to fight them that you realise, i've never owned a game like this...

launched an attack on an outlying paranid sector with about 4 cerberus's, a colossus with 49 fighters on board, 2 minotaur's and a few heavy centaurs...didn't think they would fight back much...turned out they sent a fleet(none of this was staged or preorganized) of a zeus, 2 deimos's,aton of nemesis's and and 2 agamemnon's...i won but lost all but 2 ships

ive modded my copy of the game so all the weapons move at 3 or 4 times the speed of there originals while making th game a whole lot harder to play in a fighter its kick A in a cap ship really gives the feeling of combat unlike the slow weapons the game originally had

@avm1004 I had the same problem, Some good/semi good bands are: X ray dog, Immediate Music, and 2 Steps from hell. Just google them and download from BeeMp3. Apparently its 100% gurranteed no virus downloads. I downloaded about 30 tracks, scanned em and they came up clean. Seems to work for me.

Economy in X-series is mostly traiding, and some production.

But if you manage to build up a lot a factories - you may not need any resources at all - just a lot of factories and haulers (or build one giant complex of like 30 factories, all connected by tunnels)... a lot of thinking (and without any proper tutorial - a lot of reading of forums as well)

you can easily arm capital ships with the script editor, as well as speed upgrades, cargo bay extensions and so forth............

Yeah capital ships own, and if you use the script editor you can get dozens, but it takes them quite a while to land at anything, move in wings, go through jumpgates, and nearly impossible to fully arm without their own personal tanker. Can anyone help me with those problems?

@callsignferret Dude u can set trough Script Editor any speed to your capital ships... so they will move even 2.000 m/sek or even more if u want... lol... One of my Pythons move up to 3.100 m/sek and its not max ofc... + u can jump em trough wings, from script editor u can setup any equment and any softwere to your ships, jump em anywhere (even to any terran sector, what u cant do with normal jumpdrive) add energy cell's there or do any thing in game trough it :)

they got the BEST looking frigate i tell you that for sure, i looooved it, and them having some of the finest weapons in the universe, thos front guns it has kicks ass so freaken hard :P

destroyers a bit weird with the big engine thing at the back, but thos singularity projector cannons are far more deadly than all other capital weapons. makes your titan like a childs toy :P

@commandotoy even though this is a late response, this is how to do it legally... go to Stardock Impulse, get an account there and add your game to impulse. Now you will be able to use stardock to run X3.
