Very religious people shun the Republicanism of The United States of America; they have a superior revelation to that of Republicanism and for them that's enough.
Indeed, they hate the freedoms of this Republic as much as a Communist does; the Communist too, has a "superior revelation" to that of the US Founders.
You have a problem with a church, believing that marriage is between a man and a woman, that is in the bible, so what you should be saying is I will practice as I please not talking against the church. I want to be rich so I guess I can murder and steal, the bible talks about that too. Morals and ethics, is that realy a bad thing, there are sex offenders now trying to claim that it is part of the way god made them, and just because their a minority they aren't being treated fairly.
What I was saying about trinity is that it was suggested as church docterine with no scriptual base, it was based by Christ saying I am as my father as my father is in me, no kidding my son is like me as I am in him. So before you write nasty notes about dinosaurs not being in the bible but they existed, I never said they didn't, I merely said that Trinity was Doctorine to explain that one verse in the Bible. When we read the bible a verse at a time we can darn near make it say anything.
@rsjumpers Hi jumpers, just now saw your post. With the dinosaur thing, I didn't mean you said they didn't exist, I was only trying to underscore my point that just because a word isn't in the Bible doesn't mean it isn't true, doctrinal, didn't exist, etc. The Book of Mormon teaches the Trinity. When interpreting the Bible, it's important to compare scripture with scripture, IOW, different passages about the same thing to get a fuller orbed picture of what's being taught.
@wannawatchu66 What your not getting is is there are pieces you are missing. You are well educated in the scriptures but sometimes education isn't enough, again I encourage you to read about my story on Mormon.org you discover truth about me. Then you will discover while these crippled hands take the time to write back to you. Truth is something we all seek, but truth comes from the Holy Ghost. Sometimes we study so hard we miss what is in front of us. Pray about it.
@rsjumpers Wasn't trying to come across as "nasty." But again, one hermeneutical principle is to compare scripture with scripture. In Hebrews 1:8, the Father (Who is obviously God!) calls the Son "God." In Acts 5:3-4, the Holy Spirit is called "God." Yet in Deuteronomy 6:4, we see that the Lord is ONE (Hebrew word "echad" meaning a *compound unity*). Three persons, one God, called the "Godhead," "Trinity," or "Triune God." In other words, three "whos," one "what." Hope that helps you.
@wannawatchu66 the "Mormon" church or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints Yes Teaches the "God Head"teaches it as three working in one common purpose, not the trinity "one God" I suggest as you stated earlier the book of Mormon teaches the Trinity read it again and we are not the only church to belief the "trinity" is doctrine and not scriptural several other christian church belief the trinity to be Doctrine not having foundation in scriptures
@rsjumpers So, to continue comparing scripture with scripture, not only does Deuteronomy 6:4 teach only one God, numerous passages in Isaiah clearly state that not only is there only one God, but that no one else ever will be (43:10, 44:6, 45:5). Jesus claimed to be God (I AM) in John 8:58, a direct reference to Exodus 3:14. We're NOT just reading "a verse at a time" here. Only one God, three persons Who exist as That one God, and numerous verses that teach this.
@wannawatchu66 If you want to know more about what I believe believe about the "GodHead" I invite you to search me out on Mormon.org, maybe even get a copy of the book of Mormon it does not teach the "Trinity" But one thing that was mentioned in an earlier post Let the Holy Spirit Guide you, If you Follow teachings of men if you let the Holy Spirit Guide you, Than you are following Heavenly Fathers Plan, That is why we were sent such a precious gift.
@wannawatchu66 Look in Genesis you will find the words We and Us and our, that is not one God there is one Heavenly Father, His only Begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost ask Heavenly Father why these words were used in the beginning of his word passed down to his prophet. They are not typos or mistakes and the Holy ghost will bear witness of that truth, I went through the scriptures you quoted and I feel the same this is your interpretation, Passed from generation to generation.

I deeply respect the orthodox Jewish community for their willingness to live so differently than the rest of the world. I know they get a lot of ridicule, yet they are willing to sacrifice all for what they believe. However, I am glad to see that individuals have the courage to stand up for what they feel is right for them - those who "leave the fold" deserve praise for making that decision.
The church is tue and now you are just another Gay mentally ill man. Homosexuality is a sin and an abomination in the eyes of God. And will u please do something about that hair? u look ridiculous!!
i run into so many people who think mormons dont believe in the bible.. or we cant drink caffenine or we are not christians.. they just arnt educated. i see so many people scope out the church or come to the church and never join.. we still help them and welcome them.. no pressure at all. people get mad that they come to the door. if everyone did that instead of all the crime.. would it be so bad
its funny that you go from loving god as a mormon.. when that god expects you to work for love.... when the god of the bible loves your no matter who you are..
christianity not matter what demonimation has one single common thread that mormonism completey denies..... Jesus is GOD..... the only god.. the mighty god. elohim..jehova.. king of kings.. and Lord of lords....
@kevangreen18 check your facts. i used to be a missionary. i did nothing but study and teach mornonism for two years. they're all a joke. mormons are christians just like every other christian sect. and they're all fake, ridiculous organizations led by haughty and selfish leaders who prey on their followers' fears. no mainstream christian church is better than another. don't kid yourself.
I agree, religion is not the answer, in fact it more frequently does more harm than good to the condition of the soul in the end... faith, study and fellowship is the answer. All should study, NONE should just take the traditions and doctrines of men as the poor substitute that it is.
@kevangreen18 Find trinity in the Bible it is not there even in your bible dictionary it says it is followed as a docterinal beleive of some christian churches, do you home work the trinity is a beleif and is not founded in the scriptures, Look it up and you will find truth.
1Co 15:28 & when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, THAT GOD MAY BE ALL IN ALL.
you misunderstand the references . Jesus is in God and God is in jesus,
joh 14:8-[20]At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you...
to read it as you do you'd have to also say we are also God.
Jesus is the SON /all His authority, the path to God, NOT God himself.
I'm glad that the church helped you for the time in your life when you needed it. Missions are really great experiences and they teach you so much, but it can be difficult to reconcile that experience with your new-found values. There is a reason for everything that is brought into your life. If I can give you any advice it would be to remember your intentions during your church service; most likely they were altruistic. Hold on to that, and hold on to your friends in Russia.
Applause 2U! :) My-my-my... you make me glad I have no religion, and never have. :) (My own background more parallels Lori Petty's 'The Poker House.' I applaud her as well!) Buddhists are nice. If I could pick a religion, I like them. As I recall, they were the only ones Bill Maher didn't make look stupid in Religulous. :) But I didn't stop by to plug my favorite movies! Just to leave a smile. :) You've EARNED it! :)
Were it not for being gay, would you have ultimately lead the church anyway? Is there anything that bothers you about it outside of your sexuality and the church's stance on it?
@moparmonster1965 it's not just being gay and i can't say whether i would've left, but i am grateful for having my eyes opened. the church isn't true. plain and simple. it's just the same as every other false religion. there is no difference between the lds church and every other mormon sect. it just so happens that the lds sect has gained more members than all the others. that doesn't make it true, however.
Gee I thought nothing we can do can gain us eternal salvation that our righeousness is as filthy rags to god and salvation is a free gift not something we do.
I think the Mormon Church is making a mistake by denying homosexuality rather than embracing it and 'normalising' it through same-sex marriage. Our societies at large in the developed world are coming closer and closer to that idea, and I think eventually Churches will come around too. It is in the interest of conservatives that homosexuals be normalised through marriage and social acceptance.
i couldn't agree more. i hope the mormon church is learning an important lesson with the amount of bad press it has been receiving in response to their fight against equality. it is exciting to be living so close to the center of the equality debate in salt lake city. i see you are interested in gay literature. you might be interested in a book called Peculiar People. it is full of stories from gay mormons who have varying thoughts about the church.
Thanks for the suggestion. All I can find on amazon is a book about the Amish...
I would probably be interested in queering the Book of Mormon at one point, e.g. applying Queer Theory to it.
There is mention of the Mormon Church in Willa Cather, which is interesting as she was a lesbian in 19th-century America and she grew up in the Midwest.
the isbn is 9781560850465 and with that i was able to bring up the book on amazon's uk site. it would be interesting to hear your thoughts after queering the BOM.
You are so brave! I know how hard this all is for you, trust me! I am not gay but kind of in the same boat as you as far as wanting out of LDS . I pray you will find the peace I found simply by just walking away and leaving the rest to God.
thanks for the congratulations. and you're right, there are many people who have found the light and left. i have met many and they are all very happy.
i did speak it fairly well over the two years i was there. i have since lost much of it but still keep in touch with many friends i made over there. i will take Russian classes at university probably next year to get it back. I feel very luck to have had the chance to learn such an important global language.
Hey, sorry you had to go through this. I'm going through it in a little different way - I can totally relate to you feeling like God wouldn't send you here to fail, and never experience love.
If you can deprogram what they've told you God thinks of you, maybe you can still find out God loves you. that's what I'm trying to do.

Hey dude - sorry you went through some difficulties and what not.. it can be tough sometimes to secure a testimony. But I just wanted to do my part and say that what the church, or in reality christ, did for you during your mission and in high school is a testimony that its true! I know its true dude and I encourage you to keep trying to regain your testimony - id love to talk to you about it if youd like - anyway - good luck bro
Thanks for sharing! It is SO hard; the church pervades our lives in an indescribable way.
I was born (I'm 37) and raised LDS, and am an active member of my ward. A few years ago, I started researching JS & early church history. I've become continually disturbed and, frankly, angry.
I hope you can leave the church without too much grief from the "brethren". Hang in there and may you have the strength to do what you need to do and find the place in this world where you can be truly happy.
You might find bornagainmormon dot com interesting if you're still seeking christian spirituality. It's a call in talk show where they talk about comparing mainstream Christianity with Mormonism. Gay friendly churches are: United Church of Christ, Unity, Unitarian, Religious Science. Good luck!
Actor? or are you saying all this from your heart?Resign from church? Paul himself said he was glad he did not baptize anyone; he said this because they were saying they were of Paul rather than of Jesus. I was what people call agnostic (mostly because i liked sin) Romans 1 is a good chapter to read; they knew God, and did not acknowledge Him as God, and they were not greatful,,then God turns him over,,. Eve was deceived,,with pride,,, Hugs, Granmama Carol
Yep, it's a very difficult choice. But remember, you are a whole lot more than the situation that this very imperfect world has placed you in. Never doubt the Father's love for you. He will fight your battles for you. He will carry you through. But it is always your choice. Be wise.

Let me explain, put it this way even if you have come to the conclusion that you feel this is the right decision for you you seem to be guilting out. Dude its NO BIG STEP. Its all in your head. Just walk . Thats it, thats all. Your free and stop that (contabove)

I was bouncing around on youtube and came across this one. Quite frankly I thought it was something else. I was compelled to write this. Despite the way I'm about to come across I hope to help. I guess I'll start by using the word, reality. Thats a good one. I was baptized at 9 years old. I have not been active in the church for nine years. Its just such a non issue. History. But this message is for you, not me. I'm just going to be straight with you. Here we go. First of all IT IS (contabove)

And will u please do something about that hair? u look ridiculous!!

i run into so many people who think mormons dont believe in the bible.. or we cant drink caffenine or we are not christians.. they just arnt educated. i see so many people scope out the church or come to the church and never join.. we still help them and welcome them.. no pressure at all. people get mad that they come to the door. if everyone did that instead of all the crime.. would it be so bad
teewhy1977 1 year ago
its funny that you go from loving god as a mormon.. when that god expects you to work for love.... when the god of the bible loves your no matter who you are..
kevangreen18 1 year ago
@kevangreen18 yeah? but the bible also says to work and he will love u more because his son worked. so there.
proudtobeLDS26 1 year ago
christianity not matter what demonimation has one single common thread that mormonism completey denies..... Jesus is GOD..... the only god.. the mighty god. elohim..jehova.. king of kings.. and Lord of lords....
kevangreen18 1 year ago
@kevangreen18 check your facts. i used to be a missionary. i did nothing but study and teach mornonism for two years. they're all a joke. mormons are christians just like every other christian sect. and they're all fake, ridiculous organizations led by haughty and selfish leaders who prey on their followers' fears. no mainstream christian church is better than another. don't kid yourself.
charliechill 1 year ago 4
@charliechill We aren't fake and the bible says we would be persecuted by you non LDS folks that just like to nsult us. May God have mercy on you.
proudtobeLDS26 1 year ago
@charliechill
I agree, religion is not the answer, in fact it more frequently does more harm than good to the condition of the soul in the end... faith, study and fellowship is the answer. All should study, NONE should just take the traditions and doctrines of men as the poor substitute that it is.

@kevangreen18 Find trinity in the Bible it is not there even in your bible dictionary it says it is followed as a docterinal beleive of some christian churches, do you home work the trinity is a beleif and is not founded in the scriptures, Look it up and you will find truth.
rsjumpers 1 year ago
@rsjumpers "Trinity" isn't in the Bible because it comes from a Latin word. The Bible was written in Hebrew and Greek.
Are you going to suggest that because "dinosaur" isn't in the Bible, they didn't exist? The word didn't exist until 1841.
You said "Look it up and you will find truth."
It would appear you have some "looking up" to do of your own.

Jesus is the SON /all His authority, the path to God, NOT God himself.
you are mistaken.

@dustinfinance thanks for your kind words. i appreciate the advice and i'll remember it.

@Tg1007 thanks so much for your kind words. and yes i agree that all religions are pretty silly. :)

Were it not for being gay, would you have ultimately lead the church anyway? Is there anything that bothers you about it outside of your sexuality and the church's stance on it?
moparmonster1965 2 years ago
@moparmonster1965 it's not just being gay and i can't say whether i would've left, but i am grateful for having my eyes opened. the church isn't true. plain and simple. it's just the same as every other false religion. there is no difference between the lds church and every other mormon sect. it just so happens that the lds sect has gained more members than all the others. that doesn't make it true, however.

Gee I thought nothing we can do can gain us eternal salvation that our righeousness is as filthy rags to god and salvation is a free gift not something we do.
jagg1951 2 years ago
I think the Mormon Church is making a mistake by denying homosexuality rather than embracing it and 'normalising' it through same-sex marriage. Our societies at large in the developed world are coming closer and closer to that idea, and I think eventually Churches will come around too. It is in the interest of conservatives that homosexuals be normalised through marriage and social acceptance.
underneaththeveneer 2 years ago
i couldn't agree more. i hope the mormon church is learning an important lesson with the amount of bad press it has been receiving in response to their fight against equality. it is exciting to be living so close to the center of the equality debate in salt lake city. i see you are interested in gay literature. you might be interested in a book called Peculiar People. it is full of stories from gay mormons who have varying thoughts about the church.
charliechill 2 years ago
Thanks for the suggestion. All I can find on amazon is a book about the Amish...
I would probably be interested in queering the Book of Mormon at one point, e.g. applying Queer Theory to it.
There is mention of the Mormon Church in Willa Cather, which is interesting as she was a lesbian in 19th-century America and she grew up in the Midwest.
underneaththeveneer 2 years ago
the isbn is 9781560850465 and with that i was able to bring up the book on amazon's uk site. it would be interesting to hear your thoughts after queering the BOM.

You are so brave! I know how hard this all is for you, trust me! I am not gay but kind of in the same boat as you as far as wanting out of LDS . I pray you will find the peace I found simply by just walking away and leaving the rest to God.

thank you for the kind comment. i am very happy and know i made the right choice. i wish you the best, as well.

congratulations on your opening your mind.
this is brave and necessary if you are to grow as a person, and I applaud you.
remember, you are NOT alone, as there are many of us who have left the dogma behind
again,
congratulations.

Did you learn Russian well?
singandnevertire 3 years ago
i did speak it fairly well over the two years i was there. i have since lost much of it but still keep in touch with many friends i made over there. i will take Russian classes at university probably next year to get it back. I feel very luck to have had the chance to learn such an important global language.

Hey, sorry you had to go through this. I'm going through it in a little different way - I can totally relate to you feeling like God wouldn't send you here to fail, and never experience love.
If you can deprogram what they've told you God thinks of you, maybe you can still find out God loves you. that's what I'm trying to do.
aleisenicole 3 years ago
thanks for the nice comment. i am doing well now that i have left and am better off than i ever was as a mormon. how are things going for you?

Be wise.
