  • What year was this recorded?

  • it seems like he had remembered the name of every person he ever met in his life

  • such a hot voice

  • Did Peter Sellers model Quilty after Kubrick? You're right, exactly the same voice and expression.

  • he says he came across the money privately i heard a theory he filmed the moon landings, and was funded by the goverment to make any film he want because of his service.Kubrick i love you

  • kubrick sounds rather arrogant

  • @SuperFunkDoctor Maybe a lil bit but i think he is being objective and truthful sometimes that can be mistaken for arrogance.

  • @film23790 I think your right about that

  • @SuperFunkDoctor He sounds honest

  • @SuperFunkDoctor I don't understand how that comes across...i think he comes across lovely

  • Thanks for this, NonSub. Love hearing Kubrick's voice.

  • Not a bad looking dude. I'd bend him over.

  • @Razersun ugh you fag

  • only thing that I dont like in this interview is that he used the word money too much( but its ok coz hes a Jew after all )

  • why are jews the best directors?

  • @druha10304 jews are usually the best everything. they've been a closed society for a long time in which the majority only marry others jews who are usually intelligent or talented as well. so they're descending similar genes allowing to spawn even more talent or intelligence.

  • @BeAsTm0aD

That's an asinine comment. So, you can only be a great anything if you have Jewish blood? What a rotten thing to say. What about Hitchcock? He was Catholic.

  • @druha10304

Hitchcock wasn't Jewish. What was he? Garbage?

  • kirk douglas told kubrick either not tack on a happy ending to paths of glory or he

would walk the set kubrick wanted to make it a commercial ending, douglas in the ragmans son said you do that and I am outta here fella so much for kurbricks

    early integrity

  • 8:15, he and Malcolm McDowell, probably on the set of Clockwork Orange. :)

  • When was this interview done?

  • @tall32guy when was these done?

  • it's Sellers playing Kubrick.

  • @strangeloveproxy That's a joke right?

  • it's Sellers playing Kubrick.

  • 2001: a space odyssey

  • @gustavo134

I really responded to Eyes Wide Shut because there is so much to ponder in such a concise film, but I've only seen Spartacus and 2001. Eyes Wide Shut isn't an "honest to God" Epic like the other two, yet I still have the sense, somehow, that the questions were greater than the characters' answers. Maybe it was Kubrick's imagination or Schnitzler's or mine or ours? and, unlike "I am Spartacus!" and "Two-thousand one", there's total ambiguity at the end. What do you think?

  • Whats your favorite Kubrick movie? please reply

  • @gustovo134 2001

  • @gustovo134 a clockwork orange. you?

  • @gustovo134 it's just so intelligent.

  • @shitIMGOINGPOSTAL the dialouge and storyline is just amazing

  • @gustovo134 agree'd the first 45 minutes is the best though.

  • @shitIMGOINGPOSTAL

    defiantly A Clockwork Orange.

  • @gustovo134

The Shinning and a clockwork orange!

  • I thought Kubrick had a british accent..this is BS

  • @wisesatyr72 Kubrick is from the Bronx, the home of hip-hop! He moved to England when he was in his 30s or 40s.

  • @TheJabberwock Hes a american right on!!

  • @TheJabberwock

    no pride, hip hop sucks

  • @AwesomeCoasters You sure showed me!

  • @AwesomeCoasters showed me how much of an idiot you are.

  • @TheJabberwock

I'm so dirt stupid compared to the superior complexity and flawless constitution of your mind that if you were bacteria, I would be prokaryotic cell

but still my taste in music would supplant yours

  • @AwesomeCoasters do you go to high school? who are you trying to impress? and who are you trying to convince that hip hop sucks? certainly not me. don't bother replying and polluting the internet with any more trash.

  • @wisesatyr72 hes from the bronx

  • @wisesatyr72 no he was a new yorker who lived in england, with a british family.

  • hi,

does anyone know, when and where did Kubrick have this interview?

if anyone knows any references, please reply. would be very helpful.

    thanks

  • Kubrick's home in Hertfordshire, England.

    1966.

  • Actually no, it wasn't his manor in Hertfordshire, he moved there in 1978.

It was somewhere in England though.

  • if you buy 2001 on dvd (the 2007 version) this is one of the bonus features

  • He sounds just like Peter Sellers portrayal of Claire Quilty.

  • claire quilty sounds like kubrick innit

  • My bad. I heard stories that Sellers impersonated Kubrick for the role.

    I stand corrected Sir.

  • Yeah, that is probably where Sellers got the inspiration for Quilty's accent.

  • Peter Sellers portrayal of Claire Quilty was based on his director, Stanley Kubrick

  • @svanhorn27 You're right. I read that in an article. I don't know why I didn't put that in my original comment.

  • @pollylodges Yep, you nailed it! You're the only other person I know to have noticed. But it was Quilty doing the voice in the dark on the veranda of the Enchanted Hunters hotel, I think

  • he sounds like claire quilty because Peter Sellers modeled the voice of Clare Quilty on that of Stanley Kubrick.

  • @pollylodges That's because Sellers was doing an impression of Kubrick in that role - it was on purpose.

  • @koinshaku I was just bringing up how close sellers impression was. I had heard about Sellers doing impressions of Kubrick in a documentary. (I think it was about Peter sellers though).

  • @koinshaku

Yeah. When I first heard Stan's voice in these interviews, I immediately thought of Sellers in Lolita.

  • @pollylodges LMAO good call

  • @pollylodges In that role Peter is impersonating Stanley's voice. Good ear.

  • @pollylodges Maybe Kubrick made Quilty like himself because he liked the character...

  • What story is he talking about when he mentions the 'midget' at about 2:15?

  • The midget has a strike zone that is too small for the pitcher to the throw strikes in....

  • He is the film industry Nietzsche

  • is Coppola the Kierkegaard, Lynch the Dostoevsky

  • err forgot Malick

  • Lynch comparable to Dostevsky?! I don't think so!

Nietzsche is not a very learned comparison either.

  • that is too easy a label. he is more the film industry Darwin!

  • Remove your idiotic comment.

  • Actually I prefer a film industry Max Stirner!

  • godness
