  • @ibori1

Yea doing the same thing now. Should have a new video of mods and stuff soon!

  • That's why on my 07 I just went straight to do internals. Mahle pistons, arp studs, acl bearing, rods, nitrate coated crank from 08+ sti's,hone&bored cylinders, valve job and obviously different turbo and TBE bigger tmic injectors,FP,killer bee products like Windage tray, pickup, oil pan. And some other goodies I can't remember of the top of my head been running great for a yr now..

  • @1993myyear nah bro u shouldn't be hearing noises like that on just a CBE unless u have it tuned with a DP and start pushing too much boost which on stock internals everyone seems to want to do insane numbers..

  • I have a 2008 WRX sedan. About a week ago, I hit a pretty good sized pothole. Thereafter I started hearing the same exact engine noise that you shared in this video, which is odd because normally a pothole wouldn't result in an engine knock, especially with a WRX (known for durability). I am debating on whether to take it to a Subaru dealership or somewhere else.

  • New vid coming soon have some great mods done. Will show new motor running like a champ with sweet subby noises!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My dad bought me a bran new 2011 Subaru wrx with a catback exhuast and will I hear knocking from the engine after so many miles????? Please please someone tell me

  • yep same thing happen to me. its at subaru right now tho getting a brand new engine in it. i cant wait to get it back!!! its still under the factory warranty so i dont have to pay a dime wooohhhoooo it only has 20k miles on it .

  • Hey EdaP79, I got the same problem. But my question is do you have any aftermarket parts beside your intake? The subaru dealership down here in Hawaii wont help my 08STi out.Their reason was because I have an aftermarket parts. How much did it cost you and how long did it take them to fix it?

  • Well I just figured out the sound coming from my Lightning Red 08... And damn those high winter idles!!

  • lol...don't worry mate, you're not the only one.

  • word to the wise dont do awd spins without having a dry sump. lol of a baffle inside oil pan to keep it from moving to one side during those lateral G's......

  • With mods like that done you REALLY need a tune.

tactrix(dot)com Tactrix cable required to reflash ecu. Costs around $170. I use it and love it.

romraider(dot)com Opensource tuning software used with tactrix cable .. Its free

cobbtuning(dot)com Off the shelf programmer.. Expensive, $600 and no custom tuning unless you go to a certified tuner.

  • So after shipping it down to the original dealer and having them tear the motor down found a loose bearing I believe #3 piston rod. Where it mates to the crank. Everything else was good. They did great work and replaced the crank and all rod bearings. test drove it 400 miles to my house to make sure and yep its perfect. Thank you Car Subaru of Portland OR. :)

  • @EdaP79 I would have requested a new short block at least. Rebuilt engine at 40k miles is just not right.

  • i thing is a piston and rings i got the same problem with my 08 sti i aready have second block gut luck

  • well good news is Subaru dealership is admiting they sold it certified when they shouldnt have or they should have fixed it before selling. Coming to pick her up and take her to get fixed will update when I get more info about what caused this obnoxious knock?

  • @EdaP79 Awesome!!!!!

  • hope they help you get her fixed. it is a nice STi, for how long have you had the car?

  • @bikemtn about 6 months, daily driver. Have not had any issues with her other than this current problem.
