@birthdaycake13 Ideally I want to trade it for either a Duo Sonic (a parts-built one or 90's MIM) or some sort of other equally odd guitar. However, as of today I decided that I want to learn Banjo more than anything and would trade it for a banjo in a heartbeat.
I had one of these years ago. I liked the neck, really thin. Pickups were really nice. The plastic saddles sucked, swapped it to a Tune-o-matic. I only bought it cuz Kurt Cobain. It was like $150 fourteen years ago. Wish I held on to it... oh well
I had a phase 4. Mine had a single stop tailpiece where the strings wrapped around the bridge and went straight out. The bar had bridge intonation for a wound G! I ended up replacing the bar with one with adjustable intonation and then selling the thing. Sounded great and played easy. Tuners were a little sloppy and cheap.
@andy92811 it's certainly not the best player, but hopefully this summer it'll see some restoration and get the play time it deserves. The bridge and the nut both suck pretty hard so they'll have to go for sure. I had a telecaster bridge pickup electrical taped in the bridge humbucker ring (which sounded fantastic!) Dunno what I'll end up doing exactly, but it's in pieces now begging to be fixed. :)
Well it looks yellow, but it's just refered to as "natural" they simply polyurethane over the wood without using stain or painting it::) it's yellowy hue could be from age or the lighting in the video.
Apparently Univox guitars are much better copies of Mosrites than what Eastwood make. Supposedly, Eastwood guitar necks are too big and the factory standard pickups sound like they have too much of a "Bite" to them. (That isn't good)
There's a Lace Sensor Red Dually in the bridge. I'm not a big fan of the p'up, but the original pickup was beyond repair. There used to be a SD JB in the bridge, but for most of it's life, there was a telecaster bridge pickup taped in there. That sounded the best, but looked like ass. :D
There is no such thing as "overbidding" the people (AKA the market) determines the price. This is how the free-market system works. Stop complaining...
that's beacause cobain and johnny ramone made them famous. if you want a guitar like that for about 350 bucks brandnew then go for an eastwood they made hi - flyers and a johnny ramone model (although the ramone models cost twice as much)
Really? I am considering buying an Eastwood. How does it compare to Ricky Wilson's style? If you don't know, Ricky Wilson was The B-52's original guitarist.
Univox never sent Kurt anything. They were a subsidiary brand of Matsumoko guitars, they basically underwent a name change in 1981 and surfaced as Westbury guitars.
Kurt only used the white HSB Hi Flier on the In Utero TOUR. Earlier, in early-mid 1993, he frequently used his Phase 1 S/b Hi Flier (Aka "Hi Flier Custom"...but not really), including the SNL '93 performance.
how mutch are those

My first ever electric guitar was a Univox Hi-Flyer EXACTLY like that one. Wish I still had it.

ive been trying to find one this weird yellow color, the univox website never mentions it,very weird
speakofthedevil94 2 years ago
That's because it's not yellow. It's natural wood. This video just makes it look yellow.
stigfink 2 years ago
companies tend to be reluctant to mentions there old products especially when it comes to electronics. it sucks if you ask me.

They never made leftys. This video has been "mirrored" or flipped around.

no Univox went under in the late 70's, the only univox he used in the in utero era was the white one in the heart hspaed box video
