La voce non ha un timbro paradisiaco ma perbacco questa conosce spartito e fraseggio pucciniano. Vengo dall'ascolto della Padilla in questo pezzo... e si sente benissimo la differenza fra acuti tenuti e quelli lanciati!!!
aaaah now i see why mark says "and roger will attempt to write a sweet evocative song, that doesn't remind us of musetta's waltz" in RENT's La vie Boheme
I love how the first few lyrics are the same as Take Me or Leave Me, from Rent... Which is the modern day La Boheme. Both are sheer brilliance, in my opinion.
Is it me or does it have a slight awkwardness around 4:25? It is still beautiful, no doubt! I love this video! It is my favorite opera as well as song in it.
I had the great privilege of having the San Diego Opera come to my high school drama class freshman year and perform this play! I've been in love with it, mostly this song, since then!

Wow... That was amazing... And I love Rent, so pulling "Musetta's Waltz" out of the music and comparing it to "Roger's Riff of Musetta's Walts"... That's just beautiful. And considering that this is pretty much a song about Musetta/Maureen taking advantage of Marcello/Mark... That was just awesome. Thank you for posting it! :)
You shouldn't judge her from this performance, this isn't her standard repertoire. Maybe she's pushing her voice a little bit (but not too much for my taste) as Musetta, but sample her amazing Anna Bolena, for instance, or the Queen of the Night!
Exelente interpretación de este elenco, Me gustó la original puesta en escena, no debemos temer innovar si se hace con buen gusto. Gracias por incluir todo el final de este acto.
yeah spesh the first bit When I walk When I walk alone in the street People stop and stare at me And everyone looks at my beauty, Looks at me, From head to foot... take me or leave me every single day, i walk down the street i hear people say 'baby so sweet' ever since puberty everybody stares at me boys girls i can't help it baby
I enjoyed seeing the scene beyond the aria and the updated setting and costuming. The translations are helpful, too. These classics are timeless and truer to life than I used to know. Thank you.
Elena has a beautiful and powerful voice. And her performance is excellent. And what a pleasure to see scene complete, with children choir and also the additional band passing across the stage. Oh yes, the stage could be bigger...
Thank you all for sharing this wonderful moment with us, Youtubers.

Non sarà "gnocca" come certe cocotte slavotte ma qui c'é tutto il fraseggio puccianiano...
Il timbro, il respiro, l'arcata sonora... e soprattutto l'immedesimazione parola-suono-pathos!!!

who is the singer playing marcello?
I can't believe he overpowers musetta at the climax.
amazing.
Countfoscolikesmice 1 year ago
@Countfoscolikesmice or maybe that was marcello giordani?

Operas have arias, not "songs." There are a few exceptions, such as "slice" in Otello

Actually it's Quando M'en Vo, not Guando. Beautiful rendition otherwise.
