You can hear the noticeable wobble in the voice, the lower pitch, the crooning....Mark needs to return to art songs---Schubert, Schumann, Fauré, even Von Williams....Like so many young classical singers, they go to the opera arias before they are ready....Operatic tenors have to develop and find they're niche. His coach (teacher) should know better....
A sweet, young 15 year old with a dream and a potentially stunning voice has been ruined
by promoters, managers and bad coaches. All right, he is really a baritone; someone should tell him that and get a grip on this young man. He has become smug, and almost insufferably phony with an I can do it all attitude that will destroy him within a couple of years.
He is not a tenor. Listen to other REAL tenors on YouTube. Their notes are higher. Why? They hit the real high C as they should. This gentleman needed the orchestra to transpone the whole ting down so that he could sing the aria. He is a mediocre barytone.
it's not even in the original key...full step lower. Lame-sauce lol. He needs vocal lessons. I don't like it at all, but it might not be all his fault...it has to do with who you listen to for advice, who your teacher is, and honest people that can tell you "yes man you are doing a great job" or "how about you fix this and that" ...just my opinion though.
HIS VOICE COACH SHOULD BE SHOT! IT'S WAY TO EARLY TO BE SINGING THIS...WHATS THE RUSH...STUDY..STUDY...STUDY...YOUR PINCHING THE TOP AND YOUR VOICE IS ALL OVER THE PLACE...LISTEN TO BJORLING AND CORELLI
@lennonlover123 No but in all seriousness i don't think its right for a 16 year to be singing verdi. The Bflat is weak and stressed. It almost sounds like it hurts.
@tyforjesus I hear this alot, and am just curious why younger singers in training shouldn't be singing arias like this? And if they aren't what are they working on; drills/technique/scales?
@LMaster1 It takes alot of power for a voice to sing these types of arias. Young singers are straining their Lyrnx (vocal chords) by doing this with an underdeveloped voice. Males alone don't fully develop their voice until around 38. Not saying they shouldn't sing those arias until 38, but 15 or 17 is way too young. Young performers should be working on technique ALL the time as should all singers, but most of all giving your voice time mature. It is ideal to perform Art Songs.
I actually didn't know Kermit the Frog was at the Met this season... When he's able to do the true tenor part instead of going a step down to a baritone-like aria, it'll be awesome. No, seriously, listen to Pavarotti do it then quick go back to this. You'll see what what I mean.
The producers and jury of this awful "show" should be arrested.
Enough is enough!!! Stop playing with true professionals. And stop using "underdogs", and "poor little guys" to make money. This is very very bad. The voice is nice. The technique is all wrong. The guy is not a tenor... and so on...come on!!!!
wwwwwwooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooo!!!!!!!! you are becoming something else, young man....how mario is looking down and laughing!!! do try out for the met...please, please....just fantastic!!!!!

@lennonlover123 yes, he does. But then again, he's 15- he shouldn't be singing arias like this.
