You have to use this file when you are on SP1. Using it on an SP2 system wont work.

I'm currently seeing if it works on SP2 AFTER using this patch. 23 days left.

Nope, Crack works just fine. The only thing it patches is slui.exe which is the file used to activate it.

It´s a little more subtle.

cracks always "look" like viruses to anti-virus scanners because they work and act just like virusses. in fact, in a programmatic sense, they are the same. And maybe sometimes cracks ARE in fact virusses.

But the fact is, if you write a program that directly alters compiled code from a DLL for example, it is seen as a virus by almost all anti virus programs. Even though it doesn´t do anything "wrong" it does something "dangerous enough".

@lennartz79 well in theory but cracks aren't viruses their just like the .exe replaceables the .exe that is activated . Some cracks ARE REAL VIRUSES that CAN HARM YOUR PC . Viruses are Viruses Cracks are .exe that are Activated but programms that crack can't be viruses .

i have Win2K8 with SP2 integrated: this patch passes the future-date test, but there is a permanent message by the clock saying "this copy of windows is not genuine" so i dont trust it's reliable. we will see.
