sorry to hear about your loss. i respect your decision, but had it been me, i would have surgically removed the tumor. likelihood of survival would still be rather low, but it may have viven him a chance.
nah mate dont worry i think my fish had this like two weeks ago? only i noticed it earlier i think that maybe you havn't noticed it and it's just grown and grown. all i did was use that disease safe stuff and it worked fine:)
Poor guy. Very pretty fish.i recently added a baby black moor to my tank and named him Alfredo. Search goldfish surgery. a goldfish with a tumor was saved when his owners anesthetized him and put water in his gills while they took him out of the tank and cut off the tumor
trust me its cancer u have to get it removed first u get a bowl of water put anesthetic in it then put the fish in it once its under take it out and use a scalpul to remove it then after its all done put him back in the tank but dunk him in water every so often during surgery and put stress coat in and anything that repairs fins and body it may bleed a little but no a lot but if u dont want to do it take him to the vet and have them take a little of it off if cancer fish needs sugery immediatly
I have two black moors. they both go into an outdoor pond all summer and come into a tank in the fall until spring. They are with at least a dozen other goldfish and are fine. They are a little dumb though because their vision is bad, but are fed well. One is changing colour the other is black. They are 3 years old at least. THe growth on your fish is from a shallow gene pool... not cancer....
Yes they can i have a red cap oranda and black moor in a 3 gallon tank and they have become friends.Basically they are getting along swimmingly.haha.Hope you have fun fishkeeping,Austin.
A three gallon tank is WAY too small. Goldfish need a 20 gallon plus 10 gallon per each additional goldfish. It is cruel to expect them to live and be HEALTHY in that small of a tank. You should have at least a 30 gallon tank for those fish to grow properly. They also produce A LOT of waste! They also get between 6 inches and a foot. Goldfish can also live up to 40 years with proper care so it is unfair to them to slowly kill them in a small tank.
Well it is not recommended for regular goldfish such as Common Goldfish live with the black goldfish which are the Black Moor because the Common Goldfish are much faster swimmers than the Moors.
I have a 2 and a half year old Black Moor Goldfish that has had a small like pea shaped bump on its back similar to this Fish, just not as bad. I dont know what it is. It is such a beautiful fish,
I'd say, if they are both under 4 inches a piece and you clean the tank weekly, you may be able to pull it off. Make sure to cycle your tank first. I'd get one of the goldfish first, then wait about 2 weeks to make sure that the ammonia in your tank is stable. If it's stable you should be able to house both of them. But it's EXTREMELY important to watch your water quality. Buy some test strips.
To avoid any extra expense it would be better to buy the right size tank, 20 gal, at the start.
I'm sorry about your loss cowboybrod. It's always sad and painful to lose a friend. I have had my Black Moor for 4 days now and I've grown so attached to him already. He likes to be stroked =} Everytime I clean his aquarium, he come over to my hand so I can pet him =} I hope he lives a looooooong time =]
That's an airstone. Just there to give extra oxygen to the tank. A filter is stil needed though, it's probably the most important part of having an aquarium. The bubbles are just there to make the fish happier. So yes, you need both.
aww... I'm sorry... 2.5 years is a long time and I'd be really sad if mines die after that long, but from what i heard, having the black moor fin that long means that you've been giving it the best water quality and diet, that black moor must loved u for it :)
The easiest way to put a fish to sleep is cook water (to boiling state) then put the fish in there. It dies within a few seconds, much more humane than using that clove oil which takes 1/2 hour.
A very beautfiul fish. I also had a black moor named Vic who passed on in January. Please rest assure your little big fish is in a better place and perhaps my Vic is swimming along side yours in the big aquarium in the sky.
One of my ghost carp had a growth on its fin, so I cut it off, and the fins grown back with no sign of the growth. And where did you get a blackmoor with such big fins?
i've had really bad experience with black moore. they get stressed so easily. and they get ill so easily! i brought 4 black moores and one of them got ill it caught ick, i dont know how, any ways i never noticed since it hide al the time since it was ill and when it died all the fishes attacked him and it spread the disease and 8 of my fishes also died within a week
does it? it looked proper stressed out like i am during my exams. i've got a massive tank now and i brought another b.moor and it looks happy swimming every where. the other one used to just stay in one corner. thanks for the advice :)
i am on about getting two black moores and a plek when i can at the moment tho i have got 15 year old gold fish that is still living and is very healthy he has only had minor problems such as: fungi once (on his head), white lumps on his tail and one at the moment on his pectoral fin and a fe scratches on himself tho darting into the side at speeds lol
This is coolkat and my fish is still alive and doing great! He never had any side effects and as of today no regrowth.Just thought you guys should know.
I can hardly believe I found this video, Your fish looks exactly like mine we made the decision to remove it. we quickly snipped the growth off. It was attached by a thin piece. We put him back in the water right away .he bled for 3 seconds he never showed any sign of distress and ate seconds after. .This was 3 days ago .I did a water change afterward and added stresscoat too along with the proper level of salt.I thought you would want to know

is this common for black moors? cause mine got it but we saved him but then his eye fell of...... he lasted 4 years with no eye.:/
ScienceFreak320 1 year ago
@ScienceFreak320
the missing eye was most likely from an old wound, when you have black moor, the tank cant have anybut but gravle and a few plants, nothing else.

How would you know if a fish likes to be touched? Maybe you should do some research because touching a fish isn't healthy.

research to validate that claim is missing from your post.

That's not "more humane." The clove oil is like anthestetic. You just pour some in the tank. It doesn't hurt them at all.
