  • This is a total lie and should not be shown. I did this project while working with Quin Ivy and Alan Walden and shopped and showcased this band for months before J.J. ever heard them. Jimmy Johnson sold these masters, owned by Quin Ivy, and has made money off my cuts. If you look at the box set Quin and I are given credit as producers. Shame on you Jimmy, you know better! David Johnson

  • Tony Thanks for these posts. I have seen a lot of Skynyrd related stuff on the net and yours is the tops. great job..Peace my brother..

  • Lot of bullshit in the music biz but JJ seems a sincere chap.

    Thanx for the vid TB.

  • @smithmarke man you got that right....JJ is good at what he does and he is a nice guy....

  • Thanks Tony, great work man.

  • It's actually Quin Ivy. The Ivey spelling he is confusing with Quin's spelling is from Clayton Ivey, who was a session player and owner of the Wishbone Studios also in Muscle Shoals.

  • @BigMike422 ok I fixed it...thanks

  • @TonyBeazley No problem dude. I'm Clayton's grandson, and you wouldn't believe how many people mix up our last names lol

  • Thanks for another great video Tony! PEACE!

  • that was awesome great interview.

  • @Fletchman54352 thank you!! JJ is one awesome dude!!! He took alot of people to #1 on the charts...he's a living legend...

  • You do have the best rare collection of interviews and songs I've seenI'm was 12 in '73, the best decade for music ever, in my humble opinion. (disco not withstanding!) I just wished I could have seen them back then, much less knew them. you have to have the best memories of them ever. (Besides the band of couse). Keep 'em coming Tony..

  • @stretson I really do appreciate your kind comments , I can't think you enough.......I just wish I could've been born about 10 years earlier to capture more of the southern rock history "live".... oh that would have been super cool...

  • tony thanks for the best collection of rare skynyrd interviews and vidoes in the world.

my hats off too you john

  • @johnrafferty1 Thanks John I really appreciate it thanks for watching them.

  • Tony. You're the man. Keep up the good work!

  • @baptistrose thanks brother....glad you like the video!!!

  • . . . a very very extremely interessant video ! He's a true legend ! Thanks for sharing!

  • @Nashvilleagain thanks for watching.... Jimmy Johnson is gold!!!

  • Jimmy produced my band KING KARMA. He's an amazing person and his stories are even more amazing! He has also worked with Aretha Franklin, the Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, to name just a few.

  • @kkshaun well I guess very soon you will hit #1 ...cause anything Jimmy works on turns to gold...good luck!!!!

  • thats really cool, i met jimmy and the rest of the swampers when i was at muscle shoals and steve cropper was there, bill horn, bones malone, were all there recording bones album this was like 10 years ago and they were also workin on joe louis walkers album..that was a trip

  • Thank's. Great job!

  • Thanks for sharing this. I have been a Skynyrd fan since '74 and can't get enough info about the band.

  • Good piece thanks for sharing!

  • Extremely informative. Off "Street Survivors". . .there are two songs I prefer , "One More Time" and "I Never Dreamed". The writing credits for "One More Time" are listed to Ronnie and Gary. So what does Jimmy Johnson mean when he states, "the band wanted to use one of my songs. . 'One More Time'? Was he the producer? The arrangements on "One More Time" are some of the prettiest and most definitive of any I've ever heard. Great musicianship. .as usual for LS. Nice work Tony. Loved it.

  • Thank you very much kitts!! Yeah he was there producing and arranging it as with Rickeys "White Dove" and "Seasons"... this is when Greg Walker was playing bass on One More Time (which is a big fav of mine too) and a couple of others... it blows my mind how many people have been involved with the recordings of Skynyrd...its a big family!!

Anything Jimmy Johnson does turns to gold...the greatest producer and engineer ever!!!

  • definitely another keeper video. thanks for posting. you can almost hear him start to break up at the end. Amazing how the emotions are still raw. First and Last was one of my favorite Skynyrd albums. It truly was the first and last. Comin Home is an all time fave. Wino. Was I Right or Wrong, Down South Jukin...etc etc

  • wow! thanks for another great video. gives a guy like me a chance to learn more about the history of my favorite band. thanks again!

  • Great video Tony. Unbelievable job.

  • You've got to start tripling your posts so I'll keep away from the political videos. Yours are far better on my blood pressure!

  • I'm trying to make everyone happy!!! lol

  • More fine work of yours. Thanks Tony

  • Great video. A friend and I are debating whether or not Lynyrd Skynyrd was Democratic or Republican, as they have conflicting views. For example, they have democratic views with gun control (saturday night special) and apparantly campaigned for Jimmy Carter. However, they are Southerners and very religious.

    Do you happen to know?

Thank you for your wonderful videos.

  • I truly don't know....but that is a damn good debate question... :)

  • They were just good ol' Southern boys. If you listen to songs like things goin' on, Saturday Night Special, The needle & The Spoon That Smell, Lend A Helping Hand, All I Can Do Is Write About It & espcially The Balled Of Curtis Loew, you can TELL they weren't just SOME DRUNK REDNECKS. Those songs are AGAINST DRUGS, for gun control AND about HELPING PEOPLE. The TROUBLE is that 90% of people think they were RACIST. They ONLY know a very small handful of songs. TELL ME WHY they would write a song

  • that PRAISES A BLACK MAN THAT PLAYED BLUES????? CURTIS LOEW ***WAS*** the FINEST picker to EVER PLAY THE BLUES. YOU PEOPLE THAT DON'T LIKE LYNYRD SKYNYRD just THINK ABOUT THAT. Maybe they WERE Christians. Over HALF the songs on the 1st 5 studio records mentioned the Lord or Jesus. I don't THINK "DRUNK REDNECKS" would WRITE songs like THAT. do YOU??????????

  • well said!!!!!

  • THANKS tony!!! When you gonna let some of them videos out!!! And WHEN is that documentry gonna be DONE???? I'm WAITIN'!!!! BTW< I see you on Ed's site all the time. I'm d_and_j vanzant on there.

  • This is great stuff. Thanks for posting.

  • awesome post i've always loved the raw sound of those early sessions, it's great hearing about it as well
