Wow! She really belted that one out! I watched this live 6 years ago (How funny it is to say that it has been that long!) and I almost forgot how great a performance that was. It really gives you a sense for what real talent is. It seems like the last couple of American Idol seasons (Including 2010) is missing that certain something that made the talent consistently great as in the first 4 seasons. I really believe it is in the way they pick the contestants now and how they make them sing.

Hey stitchcastle it takes some real talent to be on broadway. Maybe that is where they felt they should be. I commend any performer of broadway you have to act dance and sing at the same time. Diana was and still is amazing. She was an underdog throughout the whole competition and then out of the middle of nowhere came this powerhouse sixteen year old girl that brought the house down.

Fantasia and Ruben are not/were not signed to Jive. Jordin is the only other Idol who has signed to Jive, and she's done very well. Jive is a good label for DA because it promotes young artists,and I think what they're looking for is a good pop singer to add to their repertoire. And Nick Lachey was with Jive, he's kind of pop. If Arch says he's making a Pop album, then he's making a pop album.

You can tell when Cowhole doesn't want a contestant to move up the ladder by his comments. When Gloria Estefan coached her in one of her songs and she did a great job for a 16 yr old. All the judges agreed; but what did Cowhole say was: "your dress is horrible". She wore a long red gown with the "car wash" hem. IMHO, IT'S BEST THAT YOU DON'T BE THE WINNER. The Winner has to sing the CRAP that TPTB AI wants. DC don't left them change you. Remember BO BICE? Look at Daugtry who didn't WIN.

You're right about Simon's reaction to Fantasia this year but he was not responsible for Jennifer Hudson leaving early. America didn't vote for her to continue. Plus if you go back over her performances that season, Jennifer was inconsistent, she didn't have a whole lot of control over her voice and her facial expressions were wierd. Leaving Idol allowed her to develop and grow.

It's like this: they would have egg on their face if the RUNNER-UP sales are better than their WINNER so what they do is: NOT PUT ENOUGH CDs in the stores. I know because I'm a Clay Aiken fan and the Store Reps would always say: "that's all they will send us". That is how they even control the sales right after the show is over. All HELL BROKE OUT when KC changed her music on her last CD; she later had to apologize to them. THEY OWN HER. WINNERS have 3 yr Contracts; Runner-Ups only 1 yr.
