What's not to love about the Randall RM series? This is not like the cheap Line 6 spider(which I did own).Tons of gain, lots of modules that you can even replace/upgrade the 2 pre-amp tubes, runs on 6L6's that can be changed to EL-34's,EL-84's or even 6V6's as long as you re-bias it. This has to be one of the best amps out there-modules like Fender,Mesa Boogie,Randall high gain and Marshalls!!
just got the rm100kh (has metal switches and more bass) and i use Blackface, SL+ , Ultra, and XTC for leads. i switch out ultra with sl+ when i do studio stuff. ultra is great for recording rythm . and sl+ is a noisy in Zakk kinda way. used to have clean, but wasnt clean enough. love this amp!!!!!!!
Not that I'm aware of. But the modules are kinda the selling point of the amp. I guess you might be able to find some way to hook up another external preamp, but I'm not sure. You kinda need the preamp to go with the power amp or else it'll sound really thin and dead.

Please, promise me that none of you EVER buy an Randall amp! I just bought Randall equipment for over 2000 US Dollars $, and it REALLY sucks :'( Just trying to help others out... Randall sucks!
actually it's a killer amp, as versatile as an amp can be - if you don't like the sound you can change it into something else completely virtually any amp sound you want, what's not to love?
the plexi sounds like a plexi, nice tubeyness, also some of the mods for the modules out there are sick.
This is the best amp you could spend your money on by a long shot.
I dont understand this amp is blatantly immitating all the big name amps with the glorified tube modules instead on the digital line 6 has. Neither is better then the originals. WHat people fail to realize is that the original amps have many nuances and can be eq'd to clean blues or metal.
Yeah especially with their lie about the Bogner ALL TUBE amps. Power section only folks. Not a lie really, states is in the literature, however they are feeding off idiots with the Bogner name. The Randall stuff M4 + RM2-50 = ALL TUBE. I have both and got rid of my mesa setup for that and I couldn't be happier.
So what? What's easier and cheaper, tracking down and paying for 3 or 4 separate amps or getting one amp that pretty much approximizes them all?
Whether you're a studio/gigging musician or just an amateur messing around; getting a cheaper, single, simple rig makes a lot more sense than buying multiple rare and/or expensive amps.
I just heard about the MTS series. I have to test drive it, but based on what I have already seen, I will likely buy one soon.
I really like the tone of the modular Randall stuff, but the clarity isn't good. Even with the simple chords in this video, you can't discern the notes in the chord. I have a love/hate thing with my RM4 + RT2/50. Best module for me is the Top Boost, which doesn't sound much like an AC30. The Randall modules get too gainy too fast and the defintion goes out the window. I'm now more interested in the Egnaters.
the messa is really adding to an all ready great amp and the guitar is quality... this is all great stuff and a pleasure to listen to.. use it in good health. "knock on wood".
is it necessary to have 4 modules in the RM4 preamp? if i buy it with *only* two modules (and in the future buy the two other) would it work? it seems you have only two modules (that sound fuckin' great)
I have an RM100 with SL+, XTC, Recto, Plexi and Clean modules. Is it just me, but your XTC module seems to have more gain. What pups are you using, and what poweramp and speakers?
BTW the XTC is my favorite module to date. Best for both lead and rhythm.
I'm using an EMG 81 in the bridge (85 in the neck but not used in here) and running into the powersection of a rackmount Dual Rectifier (serial loop). Not sure on the speakers though, they're some weird celestion I think.
Nope, that's one thing I was kinda hoping for too but I don't think there's a way to combine two at the same time. Pressing the button on the unit itself simply goes to the neck module. If you do it by midi it's basically the same thing, just goes ahead to the next module.
I have an RM100 as well and my XTC doesnt sound that good either! :) I think its the hot pickups and that Mesa power section making a big difference! sounds killer
can you tell me the preset of your XTC?

the point of MTS is to be versatile. Standard modules cost about $200 each new, so it's much easier to change you tonezz

yeah who cares as long as it sounds good except for line 6 lol :)
