@Magikano to be accurate, they are called Otaku. Which means Geek or nerd in Japanese but the difference. They are happy at being who they are and being a big part of Japan's popular culture. Before that they were isolated in the same sense as some nerds everywhere else. What made Otakus celebrated was a series of books, television shows, and movies called "Train Man". It is based on a true story. Or type up "Japanorama Otaku" that could help. But if you knew that, then sorry for the annoyance.
