@CAPcessnadriver Can't speak for the airfield in this video - but many USAF use a hot/cold side method of landing on RWY's wider than 75' to allow more A/C to land in series. It could have been habit, as the cold (full stop) side is the right side of the RWY.
Who wants a trainer to be the Air Force next LAS? It does not make any sense that is why they remove this from competition. The A-29 Super Tucano is the best LAS aircraft on the planet today. Nothing even comes close. It is already proven in the harsh jungles of Brazil and Colombia. It is going to be built in the US so it's a win win situation for the USAF and the state of Florida.
Because the Super Tucano will be made in America by Americans. Also the T-6 Bravo(Texan 2) is based off a Swiss aircraft(Pilatus PC-9), its not even a fully American design.
@LesbianVampireLover Yea, yes, that is the way to do things. If we don't buy american products, we are sending jobs outside America. Buying cheap, means in some times, buying bad stuff.
We must settle which plane is best the old fashioned way, a gunfight. Film it and put it on TV and call it "battle of the armed cropdusters" We could set up a series of challenges like on Top Gear and let the best plane be voted on by the TV audience. I think it would be bigger than Bulldozer Demolition Derby.
He meant to land on that side of the runway. There's a "hot" side and a "cold" side of the runway, depending on whether you're doing a touch-and-go or a full stop.
@pathyskeeter For some reason it won't let me post the link, but google AFMAN11-248, and look at page 67. Notice it's not in the formation flying section.
@JeezyLT7599 Speed does not matter for centerline control. The only issue I have MAYBE had is landing certain twins (with large vertical fins and lots of fuselage area), single engine, with a heavy crosswind. FYI I have not flown a C-152 in a while, but it does handle crosswinds better than a 172 for the above reason: less cross sectional area. I'm currently flying a Great Lakes, T-6 Texan, C-170A/B, RV-4, and other tail wheel airplanes.
the jet fighters will not be in used in ww3 it will be these planes why there fast to manufactur and there cheap and they dont need Chromium if we get in a world war we will not get Chromium because america haves none
NA-16 prototype (entry in 1937 USAAC Basic Combat aircraft competition, didn't win) Was later developed into: T-6 Trainer Which was developed into: AT-6 light attack/CAS aircraft.
So that's why it looks, like a WWII era fighter, it actually *is* one albeit built with modern materials and technology.
@Atomicskull Not exactly. The AT-6 in the video is based on the T-6 Texan II, which is based off a family of Swiss trainers from Pilatus (first flown in the 1960s). The NA-16 derived T-6 Texan used during WWII is a completely different plane. The US named the "new" T-6 Texan in honor of the old T-6 Texan.
@Wolfrenkrieger gracias por el dato pero todavia se me parece mucho al tucano que por cierto es exelente avion de ataque a tierra probado y comprobado aqui en colombia
I learn about this beautiful "Devil" yeasterday from a magazine xD it's awesome.Really, does anyone know how the effect of the rotors in the vid is called?

Pilot landed way right of the centerline. Not a great landing in my book!

Hawker Beechcraft is a bad loser.
The AT-6 is a bad plane, was why it was excluded from the competition.
Now he is trying to push the prototyping in the USAF.

@whereswaldo1217 Hot and cold is for formation flying, and with the T-34 guys they usually do staggered landings. Reference FAST formation standards.

That's pretty poor centerline control for a demo pilot!

@pathyskeet
Except he's landing at 110+ knots. Try that in your cessna 152
