  • Pete just Trumps!!!!!

  • it woz bles til all da blacks and pakis came over n put their muslamic law down on us

  • Bev Joan and Kimmy from Twyford School of 1968 is loving this video.

  • This is such a great album. Wow what a song writer. Great vid as well.

  • What's to dislike??? Three people confused.

  • top town acton

  • Fuckin' rapid tune!!

  • Churchfield Road hasn't changed much, although Acton's full of ragheads now thanks to that mosque they built behind the Clare Inn pub.

  • HRL labratories out of Malibu have abducted a beautiful young woman born in Ventura and from clandestine subterranean labs in Grants Pass, Oregon (Rogue Valley) and via synthetic telepathic/neuro-impulse weapons have sold her, most likely, to the Mormons. A gorgeous young woman who should be married to some retired professional athlete and living in Manhatten Beach, CA raising children is instead bar hagging in GP for shitty Israel2 secret weapons programs. She looks like the vonnage girl.

  • du tres grand TOWNSHEND!! assurément! j adore ce mec!! arnaud

  • I vacilate between my favorites from this album. This song at first sounds so punchy and pop but all you have to do is listen closely to lirics and find it potently packed and sublime.

"No one "Shivers in South California" Except those feeling cold in their heart and in their head for recognition. What poetic irony. and each line blisters with potency in this song. such weighty meaning in every line!

  • one of the best rock songs ever and no one has noticed it seems

  • @buchananstreet I noticed. Incredible rock tune. The bridge kills me every time.

  • Happy 65th birthday to the craziest and most talented windmilling son of a bitch ! THANKS PETE ! May 19th 2010

  • be careful of dudes with slit eyes. :)

  • Would love to hear this song peformed live.

  • I was listening to this cd while driving home yesterday and during this one verse stood out------ " But I'm capable, my love's inescapable, conquering lethargy, I've got Energy, STARDOM

  • Born here now a 3rd world shithole.

  • Remember that ban the bomb graffiti on bridge down Twyford Ave used to walk to school down there back in 1969

  • Is there a video for uniforms off this album?

  • another bloody freemason musical, bloodyhell 1nz enuff of a miserable millionair rockstar

  • Sign an autograph and... miss the Bus!!!

Still, you made the kid's day, mate.

And MACDONALDS was heralding the changing face of Acton High street.

  • solo townsend is even better than with the who. need to hear it in the moutains of colorado only.

  • west acton primary

    acton high school

now im at acton college lool

  • w3 allday

  • Pete was kinda handsome in those days.

  • I totally agree.

  • I think the British are still upset about the Revolutionary War!!! Chill out fellas. We love Pete!! Hate the food there. though.

  • Imagine that, walking down the street and here comes Pete.

  • I thought London was full of mostly white people. So has it changed alot since the 80s?

  • Lol.. who'd ever thought their would be a video set in acton.... Funny

He should have set some of the vid on the estate

  • I love Acton ! Lived there for a year.

    Its not pretty but honest

  • All of londons a shithole, why single out

    Acton?

  • It´s called "Stardom in ACTION"...not Acton..

  • No, it's Stardom in ACTON.

The Who attended the school now known as Acton High.

  • Um, no.

  • It is Stardom in Action!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you go look at the cover of the CD you will see that the song is called "Stardom in Acton." It's a great album by the way, so do yourself a favor and go ahead and buy it.

By the way, even iTunes has this wrong last I checked. They mistakenly list the song as "Stardom in Action."

  • Um, bought it in 1982. Thanks for the recommendation, but you're about 27 years too late. Can't wait for "Floss" to come out. A performance of it is planned for 2011. Pete never disappoints.

  • Well, um, then you ought to know the correct title of the song and not assert that it's "Stardom in Action." Anyway, a great song from a great album.

  • Hello dersh65, do you know if Pete is possibly planning a possible solo tour? I understand he is in the process of writing a new musical? Thanks!

  • He is writing "Floss", a new rock opera. Some of the songs may be featured on a new Who album, which would lead to a tour. As far as a solo tour...I'm not sure. I saw him perform Psychderelict in 1990. Still one of the best shows I've ever seen.

  • Hey dersh65, thanks for the help!

    Cheers-

  • Acton is a tough place

  • I was born in Acton nearly 60 years ago. We came to Australia 45 years ago. I'm so glad we left Acton, it looks really miserable there. My brother went to the same school as Pete...Acton County.

  • I liked this song back in 1983 when I was seventeen, and I like it now. It's classic Townshend from a great year and makes the eighties that much greater.

  • i was born and lived a large part of my life in acton. pete went to the same school as i did from v.j.

  • hahaha uxbridge roads never gonna change...

  • hahaha i live in acton, mcds is still there. i cant believe they made a music video of acton, its a shithole lol

  • I lived in acton for 20 Years, best place in the world to grow up!

  • @padman1234

Fell asleep on the train and wound up in Bloody Neasdon ...LOL

  • Well I've only been to Acton, MA, but great song as usual from Mr. Townshend.

  • Oh my...

  • well thats nice. i live in acton! great place. Great people! so please mind it!

  • its a scruffy place its common in a nice say

  • I was repping ealing in general, everyone knows acton is dryyyy

  • Wow! a place in London (or near it) that has a predominately white population. What the arab population now, like 90%?

  • london is about 60% white British, the rest is a mixture, however i think the stats for inner london is 40 white and 60 black/asian.

Places like acton are now predominately black/asian

  • Aliie? Ii Liive Iin South Acton Now, Ii Go Acton Hiigh Iiniit ... Actonsz Diirty Bwoii LooL x

  • Check it out! I lived in Acton, MASSACHUSETTS, from 1968 till I went to college. My parents retired from there in 1996. It's right outside Boston!

  • Acton ENLGAND LONDON

Within the London Bourough of Ealing, sandwhiched between Chiswick, Ealing Common and shepards bush..had the famous Acton high and twyford Hush your beaks about MA

  • Hey! I'm 90% WASP by blood; the other 10 per cent is French and Dutch. My late mother could trace her family back to the original settlers of Manhattan Island. I, too, lived in Acton, MA, for many yearsOther famous Acton, MA alumni: Steve Carell ("The Office") and Carrol Spinney ("Big Bird" on "Sesame Street!"). I'd LOVE to come to England some day! I live in central PA, only a few miles down the road from one of your own native Englishmen .... DAVY JONES!

  • I'm also originally from Acton.I remember the old bakers Maison Magurettes in the bus stop scene, great cakes.I also remember the bald old geezer with the tattoos and earrings in the next scene always roaming around.Anyone else notice that when the bus pulls up it's a 266 but when it leaves it has 260 on the back ? Both buses stopped there, some editor must have cocked up.

Decent place to have been bought up,people hard but fair, share of tossers though, full of characters definetly, most long gone.

  • ...and that's why I love Acton.

  • acton yeay my home town.

and the walk he did outa the station up that road is the walk i make everyday. ohh i feel a connection to him now haha

  • wooooow how acton has changed

  • Acton - i live here.

  • i fucking love you pete xXxXxXx

  • Pete rulz the multiverse!

  • migth blow the gaff up n start from from fresh

  • actons a changed place now boy!

aint what it used to be

    fuckin sad

  • How is it different? -signed yank in Dallas

  • Odd... I worked there for a year or so in the late 90s and it looked pretty much exactly like it appears here. I recognize a lot of those places and streets.

  • I think what carhartt's hinting at is the change that occurred since the 1940-50s (Pete's childhood) and the early-80s when Pete shot that video.

  • yup!

its all fukin Somali people now :(

ps great dirty pretty things vid!

  • ahh shit i know every wer wer he said

  • I've lived in acton for a few years now, bit odd seeing that video as i can recognise the places

  • I was talking to my ex-wife a few days ago and I said, "You know, it's ironic that Townsend will be rembered first and foremost for the "Hope I die before I get old" line from "My Generation", yet his best album was probably about reaching middle age". Someone like Pete comes around every few lifetimes. We're lucky he was in ours. In Spanish we would refer to him as "patrimonio de la humanidad".

  • Please translate for me? Father of humanity?

Gaucho amigo has two shades of meaning

  • He's working on a new rock opera, "Floss". Due out in 2010. Can't wait. Pete never disappoints.

  • His "Psycho Derelict" date in L.A. a million years ago is still one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

  • Absolutely!! Saw it twice in Philly.

  • Thanks Pete for your genius and for "All the Best Cowboys have Chinese Eyes"

  • Townsend solo stuff is great this song this whole record kicks ass.

  • Pete's solo music is too slow for my tastes, and I hate his whiny voice.

    He's still a genius, though.

  • pete can afford to do wwhichever with his cock that he wants, he probably make more at 1 show then everybody on this bord in 4 years

  • Pete was here in Austin TX for SXSW in March, he appeared all over town, it was so much fun to get to see him. I don't think he has ever done a genuine solo tour of the USA. I'm still waiting. Love Ya Pete XXXOOO

  • more a good song from pete!!

  • this is great--music videos today suck.

    Thank You Pete!

  • pete's super

  • Freaky. I used to live in Acton once upon a time. My family moved down a year after this was filmed, 'twas most odd seeing it again!

  • Comment removed

  • God, i don't think the Acton tourist board will ever use this for a promo! Its still better than any Spandau Ballet video thoough. Weird assed, edgy, & wonderfully indulgent, a strange period for pete and for music. I want my innocence... indeed. Perhaps only music reminds us of what we have lost, besides our hair that is.

  • Love Pete's hat... I mean hair!! ;o)

  • Fucking bloody wankerish genius that bloke is !

  • great song, great video

  • Oh wow an old 266. that friggin bus takes ages to come

  • the audio sounds like it was played through a campbells soup can

  • Acton has changed SO much since this video was made... a shame in some ways as it seemed a lot nicer back then!

  • pure, entertaining genius

  • I am American and I get all the references. What a great song. I agree this is one of the best on the album. Takes me back to High School

  • love it!!

  • My favorite and I think BEST song from "Chinese Eyes"

    Wasn't a big hit, I don't know why?

  • No one in the US got the British references...wankers!

  • whats a wanker?

  • As much fun as you can have while on your own.

  • wankers? what a fuckin bucktooth british word.

  • Pete uses that expression a lot. But I was just being funny and i'm from california mate!

    -Super Amanda

  • great stuff

  • i live in acton and im mates with petes nephew josh!

  • Pete Townshend Live!!! Rachel Fuller presents "In the Attic" with Willy Mason, Rosehill Drive, and very special guest PETE TOWNSHEND!!! Show this Thursday, September 28 @ the House of Blues Chicago 329 N. Dearbourn Ave. Chicago, IL

  • Awesome...Long time no hear

  • It plays a little fast, but I think it did on my VHS too. Thanks for the posting.

    TED

  • I can't believe it! The made a video of one of my favorite songs from "Chinese Eyes"!

  • There were several. Picture Music International released them on a video in the 80's. It's a very hard to find video now.

  • Pete Townshend put them up on his website maybe 3 or 4 years ago but they've been taken down since.

  • Great cut from a great album!! I didn't even know there were any videos from 'All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes'

  • Run Pete Run!! Run Run Run!! Watch Pete try to catch the bus!!
