May I ask you for the music sheet you used?

  • I played it by ear

  • This song and the way you play it is amazing. One Tin Soldier was a big part of my childhood; my class and i would always sing this in every rememberance day ceremony and almost every day in between along with many other rememberance day songs.

  • thank you very much

  • Such a powerful song, even though it was written a while ago. Definitely applies to today, which is kind of sad. But it is beautiful and well played. Thank you for uploading this.

  • Brian, great job, not perfect on the piano but that made it so much better, the feeling was in there, very electric. I can relate to this song for sure because I am so fed up with everyones lies as I am seeking a job now and I am tired of hearing the false promises. I felt renewed after listening to your rendition. Thanks for posting it and I wish you well.

  • because it was a piano prelude? Something that is played before an service or an event. It was also a meditation from my heart and soul. It is a shame that people have to hear singing to make a song worwhile. Thanks for watching anyway. . . . .

  • Thank you very much! Peace

  • no problem thank YOU for posting it^^

  • this is a beautiful arrangement. I think its great that you took a song you really cared about and adapted it for the piano. Not many people have that amount of feeling for a single song. Or the will power and stamina to transpose it to the piano.

  • Thank you, thank you very much. The song meant a lot to me growing up.

  • There were two songs during the Viet Nam war that angered and saddened me, "One Tin Soldier" by Coven and "War" by Edwin Starr and once again I`m angered and saddened by another war....again.

    A very nice version BAMBAM8993.

  • Thank you very much for watching. Peace

  • this is really good. this is my favorite song from camp mac lean. i love how u play this. can u add some words like have someone sing it while u play it? that would make it better.

    thanks,

    Luvyagurl93

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I think sometimes music alone can enhance more. We live in such a world with singing. Sometimes basking in just the music can have a stronger effect. Take Care.

  • true...but if you're gonna go with that line then lets see your face. the two best ways to share emotion is with music and expression...very good though

  • yeah if I was singing it. . . but I was not. I do not move around while I'm playing so it would not have mattered. Many performers just let the sound do the "talking". Some call it boring, but that's okay. . .

  • watch: "Wilhelm Kempff plays Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata mvt. 1" watch his emotion...

  • I am not a professional just an amatuer who likes to compose and arrange. Kempff has a great style that cannot be compied or forced. If I even attempted to play moonlight like that I'd look weird. I do understand your point, and I appreciate that style, but I am just not that kind of "performer".

  • ha my christian camp sings this too

  • Thanks for watching!

  • I went to hannah lake bible camp and we would sing this song everyday at evening chaple.

  • It's an appropriate song.

  • u sing it at CAMP so do we wth man who are you and do you go to palawo?

  • I did it years (decades)ago when I was a camp counselor. I have no knowledge of palawo. . .

  • i love thius song we sing it at camp and it so awesome we all so sing last kiss

  • thanks take care

  • this song is absolutely amazing. i remember going to camp every summer, and they played this on guitar around a campfire and we all sang. one of my favorite memories. you play this song really well. you wouldn't happen have sheet music or a downloadable mp3 version of this by any chance? i would love to learn it on piano. been playing for almost a year now and i think i could get this one down. = )

  • Thanks. Unfortunately this a improv so it is not down on paper. I do write music down occasionally, but I just have not found the time to do it. . .

  • The first time I ever heard/snag this song I was 14 and at my first overnight camp....I remember half of us..boys and girls..were in tears by then end..myself included. I still get the urge to cry when i hear it...this is such a moving song...and it was beautifully played. I may not believe in heaven (I'm Wiccan) but everyone can believe in peace on earth. So Peace on Earth to you and everyone who might read my comment.

  • Peace on Earth is achievable if everyone in all religions and creeds get involved. Thanks for watching.

  • This song is an absolutly amazing song. My friend sang it to me as we sat up in a metal rocketship at a childs park.

do you take requests? there are so many songs from my old youth group days that I would love to revisit with a simple, beautiful piano accompaniment...

  • thanks. it depends on what song exactly and whether or not I can remember it. . .

  • hmmm.how to choose? :)

    Sanctuary

    Here I Am Lord

    On Eagles Wings, etc...

  • we'll see i know those but they were not from days of youth i'll try here i am, i don't like sanctuary and on eagles wings has a real personal connection i am not ready to tackle

Sending love & smiles from afar!

(((Hugs))) to you & the Mrs...

    Paula

  • It was a song that shaped me for who I am. Thanks!

  • the chorus seems off.

  • Since I was playing octaves, it was a bit difficult to get the rythmn correct. Thanks for the comments

  • that was absolutely wonderful. i have loved that song from the first time i ever heard it. thank you for sharing ;)

  • Thank you for the comment! I really appreciate it! Peace Out!

  • I am going to hire you to play at my funeral. There wouldn't be a dry eye in the house.

    Joanie :-)

  • *chuckle* Maybe at a birthday party first. Remember, I'm not that accomplished. Megan is more of the player than I.

  • I've always loved that song!! And, you did it poetic justice! Just beautiful!

    Joanie

  • Thanks. I was singing it in my head while I was playing.

  • music and words are beautiful. i love it. thanks brian. mary

  • Take Care Mary!

  • What so sad about it for me is the truth that is behind. Take Care.

  • You know that I always loved this song. I often thought that you didn't like it because you always made fun of it whenever I mentioned it. Now, I know why that was the case. It always made me cry too!! You did an excellent job with it. :-)

  • yeah I have a tendency to dislike songs that touch me in such a way cause you know I don't like to cry.

  • Um-hmm!

  • very, very pretty melody, never heard of it before. thanks for sharing Brian!

  • We used to sing it a lot at camp and youth group. We were a serious bunch; going to no-nuke rallies and wearing buttons about peace, love and no war. Stuff like that. Even though it was the 80's, I guess we were taught by hippies. . .

  • you need to share some of those stories - would love to hear

  • I don't know. They seem to be a little uneventful to me.

  • you never know..get to talking and see what happens!

  • We were just talking about this song last week and downloaded to my phone (aka: mp3 player). I've found myself listening to it almost every day. Thanks for sharing your rendition of it!

    Sandi

  • Hope you enjoyed it. It's message that gets lost these days. . .
