There are laws that give the police the right to seize cameras, cell phones, and other recording devices in which an altercation takes place and that the recording devices may have information vital to the incident that could be used in court. like it or not, if you don't want to have your property taken...don't take the camera out or have a much larger lens and shoot the video from much farther!

Why would the cop NOT want it on tape that he removed this individual from school property? This MAY be public property, but governed by the rules & laws of the State Board of Education. If I was a police officer, I would want to at least preserve the confidentiality of any sensitive info. I don't know the legal stuff about what a cop must do in that regard though, but I will definitely act if a camera guy gets too close to my squad car. Otherwise, I have no qualms with being recorded as I perform my duties.

If they were not asked to be there for a school purpose such as motivational speaking or other activity such as praying with the football team, then they are trespassing and have no right to be on school property. That cop had no right to touch your camera, and as long as you were not involved in the crime or breaking any laws, then that cop touching your camera is and should be considered assault. But in my opinion, if the guy didn't belong there (nobody on here knows the real reason he was there) and was trespassing why didn't they just arrest him instead of "making" him leave? @TheJomogogo Are you JOKING!? If the guy in the video was trespassing, these officers would have arrived and arrested him. Obviously, that's not the case and they were abusing their power and didn't want the camera as a witness. Mitch had every right, if not the duty, to stand there and keep the camera rolling.
