  • I think keiths was better but ringo could do the same thing

  • Not even the same. Similar I guess, but not the same. Ringo kicks the bass throughout and stays on the toms pretty much the whole time. Keith's is a little more intricate. I love both of these solos though. Both drummers were fantastic.

  • @Georgewastherabbit Ringo Starr was no Keith Moon... It seems to me this must have been a running commentary between the two of them with Ringo being such a stolid steady drummer so considerate of what's going on above his drums and Moon the COMPLETE opposite. I imagine Moon must have found Ringo in some way as humorous as he found his own wildness. Yet I DEFINITELY agree that Moon is playing in reference to Ringo's solo.. in tribute!

  • When Keith did it, it was intended as a drum solo, it was just a fill during the synth solo.... At least that's how I always figured it.

  • @GuyWithNoName67 I really think that Moon is referring to Ringo and it is not a steal or an insult.. it's a tribute a quick reference .. here is Townshend's synth solo with this consistent bop bop bop bop bop and it reminds Moon of Ringo's bop bop bop bop bop bass drum and he throws in some variation on Ringo's theme. Ah.. when rock musicians listened to each other and ARGUED with each other and tipped their hat to each other as Keith Moon does here.

  • I'm was just thinking it was an interesting discovery.....

  • @kikkoman23 this two drummers were original, not technically skilled. john bonham and neil pert were the best technical classic rock drummers

  • NO ONE FUCKING CARES

  • Eh, no big deal. Musicians steal from eachother/borderline plagiarize all of the time.

  • @jdman331 That's how musicians learn.. here are these guys who for at that point 15 years have been showing each other how best to play Chuck Berry licks.. and here's the drummers doing the same thing. Going back and forth .. referencing each other in their work. What do you guys think of Phil Collins also paying tribute to Ringo's style in the song "That's All". Or is Ringo himself thinking of Mitch Mitchell on Hello Goodbye?

  • Whatever happened to 'great minds think alike'?

  • @Astrosim I've noticed this too. Ringo & Keith Moon were friends. Ringo never gave his son more than one drum lesson. Keith Moon being Keith Moon gave Zak a giant dozen drum kit for his birthday and taught him some stuff. To my mind this is Keith Moon actually giving a drummer's SHOUT OUT to his good friend and underrated pal Ringo by playing a variation on his Abbey Road solo.

  • I'm gonna already say it was probably Ringo who stole the solo from Keith, 'cause Keith was that awesome.

  • @MrHeitz17 "The End" was released in 1969. "Won't get Fooled Again" was released in 1971.

  • @gixzo Touche.

  • @MrHeitz17 Touche?

  • wowwwww

  • Keith Moon and Ringo Starr hung out a fair amount so it wouldn't surprise me.....
