  • Wow that is a really fine video. Thanks for posting

  • I didnt know RAF had "Washington´s" (B29´s)

  • Wow! Enthralling for this airplane nut. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks 35west - I knew it was too early for 1958 with the aircraft shown.

  • Would these be 616 Sqd meteors....

  • Royal air force is very strong in 50s to 70s

  • As fellow said, "General" Eisenhower certainly was not that in 1958. Also, the B-36 airplane was long obsolete by 1958. Since Korean war is mentioned, means after 1949, but before '52. Best guess, 1950.

  • Certainly not 1958? Eisenhower, who is shown as "General" was U.S. president in 1952. Movie mentions Korean war, which means after 1950, but before 1952.

  • Einenhower was still not even U.S. President (he is shown as "Genreral"), so how could it be 1958? He was elected president in 1952, so this movie had to be even before that, am guessing 1950 or even 49.

  • @35westst It's from sometime in 1951---Canberra bombers were just entering squadron service at that point. It's a fascinating time-capsule of a film.

  • I believe this newsreel is from about 1950 or '51. Note all the early British jets such as the Meteor fighter and the Valiant bomber. By 1958, the "Brits" were flying the Valiant, Vulcan and Victor jet bombers and all three would have been metioned if this had been '58. And lastly, Ike, metioned here as a General, was President of the U.S. and in his second term in office in 1958! Anyway, terrific, quality shots of early Meteors, Vampires, Shackleton, B-29's (Washingtons) and Canberras.

  • Absolute magic. Thanks.

  • Brilliant!

  • Great video!
