Be happy that this man lived to show us what is possible.

I saw Michael play several times live and it was always a deep experience.

  • Gifted, enlightened beings... indeed walk among us.

  • screw everyone elses comments! haha urs was the best.

  • Hedges is so beyond his time...what a true visionary.

  • @melodic218 was. Sadly, he passed away a long time ago.

  • @arielcardona - I know :( didnt realize i used "IS" ha

  • The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. unfortunately.

  • @K9Thundr1 well put, makin me cry. This song is incredible, I love Aerial Bounderies but this just blew me away

  • @K9Thundr1 Not really. He died in a car crash.

  • @shitmandood

Even so dude, you gotta admit, alot of strange things happen, and the most talented among us are taken way too soon.

  • @shitmandood Yea that's the point? He shined twice as bright but he only burned half as long.

  • @K9Thundr1 quote from blade runner?

    nice one actually

  • @K9Thundr1 - and you have burned so very very brightly Michael.

  • So great

  • Really cool that you included the short interview afterwards! I know exactly where that is too! Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, Colorado... thanks for posting!

  • I heard him on PBS a looooong time ago, and bought a cassette (!) of his work that Winham Hill had put out... I now own 4 of his CDs, and am always amazed at his creativity and vision.

He was, of course, taken way before his time, and I sometimes wonder what other genius he had going on that the world will never experience.

  • lol at Mongtufa's toll comment.

Like someone comes here expecting to insult random vids, then something happens and he is mesmerized by the music. LOL.

    Hedges is the MASTER.

  • now i hear where andy mckee got the inspiration for The Friend I Never Met

    fantastic tunes

  • I first discovered Michael Hedges watching the Wolf Trap concert on PBS in 1986. His performance of "Hawk Circle" with William Ackerman and then this magnificent composition made me a life-long fan.

  • Is it magic, or practice, or just love for what one does that makes this piece and this guy transcendent.

  • So wonderful.

  • what a great loss to the music world- saw him live ... pure dexteritous genius.

  • omg. wish I saw him live...:(

  • even the trolls come across this video and have to just rant about how awesome it is

  • amazing instrument and amazing playing. I feel his journey thru his playing.Thank you for posting this and we all will miss him .

  • That tone is absolutely mindblowing.

  • @philbertfwog ISN'T IT THOUGH?!?!?!?! lol

  • This performance is available on tape/DVD on a discontinued recording "Windham Hill in Concert".

There are a few available for disconcertingly high prices online (thank goodness I have mine).

  • yeah I looked it up on Amazon and the DVD's start at $124.99 but they have VHS for $25.97 (like anyone would want the sound quality of VHS)...

  • I was fortunate to see him in person before we lost him , I miss him so much.

  • Thanks to Mister Fendermac for this amzing link!

    Cheers from Paris,

    Chris

  • I was sent as a headsup--otherwise would have missed this--too incredible..is anyone making this incredible instument anew? Truly beautiful, just amazing...!!!!!!!!

  • Symphony Harpguitar in Minneapolis made them through the 1920's...If you want a new one you'll have to have it custom made...The older ones go for a premium price...

  • amazing!

  • -worships-

  • the bass line is so freaking beautiful

  • Hedges was from Enid Oklahoma. A wonderful and unique musician. Take time to discover his music and be rewarded many times over. Killed in an auto accident and as Thunderchild70 said...he is sorly missed. We can only wonder what might have been had he been given the opportunity to mature.

  • I had guitarsoul's version of this in my favorites, but they cut the end of it off. :-( Thanks for leaving it in! I was curious.

  • Still the inspiration for many of the wonderful guitar music we hear today. Sorely missed.
