Canidae are great detectors of emotion and like most carnivores also like to chase their prey. So a pitbull who is a member of the canidae family (like Wolves) being allowed to chase a little boy who looks scared isnt the best idea. Sure he might be domesticated but animal instinct is a hard thing to get rid of. I'd suggest teaching the kids not to run away from it and get him comfortable with it, then he can run around and play with it. Fear is what causes a lot of attacks from dogs.

I grew up with pitbulls and now I have a pittbull of my own. Not once have I ever been nipped or growled at. Pitbulls are protective of their owners when they sense danger or if you are being hurt. Even an underground dog fighting pitbull that shows aggression towards another human is immediately put down. When I was attacked by a yellow lab. I thank god that I forgot to close the door all the way and my pit got out and took care of buisness. You should be mad at the people that train them.

They've been shown in studies to have just as much tolerance for aggravation (like getting poked in the eye or something) as labs and golden retrievers. Plus, accidents can happen with ANY breed. Our neighbors had to have their wonderful lab put to sleep when it became suddenly aggressive and tried to attack their daughter; it turned out to have developed a brain disease.

They've been shown in studies to have just as much tolerance for aggravation (like getting poked in the eye or something) as labs and golden retrievers. Plus, accidents can happen with ANY breed. Our neighbors had to have their wonderful lab put to sleep when it became suddenly aggressive and tried to attack their daughter; it turned out to have developed a brain disease.

Pits like nothing more than pets or laps to sit in. My daughter has a full pit, who is loving but protective of the family and home, and will not allow non-family in, unless accompanied or invited in, by family. If you come alone, she won't let you in even if you have a key.
