  • Usually, I carry the small note pad that I fit in my pocket and a pen. Different colors for different headings and tasks. I also use the Google calendar, which sends me the email concerning the events. I can use it to send email to other people concerning the event. This is a very fun thing to do. I even type some of the stuff on Microsoft Word. Amazing ways to put things in a schedule. I enjoy your video.

  • You're awesome! And so happy :)

  • Try Evernote on smart phone!

  • hahaha - "where I can put my pen in" -woud've been funny if a guy said this^^

  • Back to the basics - I like it.

  • Since I've been using your method my projectmanagement is so much better. Because everyday I want to do SO many things. But when I write down 6 or 8 things that needs to be done, it are the main priorities. So now I have more focus and it also helped my sister with her homework. It's so simple, I love it. Thanks a lot.

  • Great video! I find it fascinating how everyone has a different way of implementing David Allen's strategies. Personally, I keep all of my to-do items electronically, but I can see how a notebook can be advantageous. Thanks for posting this video!

  • love the advice! i just started a lead generation business but i dont have a primary business so i have more leads than i know what to do with! im selling my leads for a dollar a piece. ask me how

  • I would recommend checking out Gtdagenda com for an online GTD manager.

You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.

Syncs with Evernote, and also comes with mobile-web version, and Android and iPhone apps.

  • I was just like you and had such a similar system with my notebooks!! It was totally rad and neat...until I forgot the damn book outside in the rain and all the ink bled like fire through water-parched cornfields. Month's and months of notes, ideas and valuable info lost. Get a cool app for your smartphone and sync the data to a cloud. No worries.

  • basically the system really depends on your own self-discipline. It takes a lot to stick to a plan...i get very easily distracted.

  • I've been feeling completely swamped and overwhelmed, buying all kinds of books about getting organized. Just thought I'd see if there were any good vids on the topic. Your upbeat attitude has completely brightened my day and gotten me motivated. Thanks!

  • very nice, I think I should pick up this habit, thank you Erica!

P.S.- You should always record in HD!

  • Those are some awesome tips!

  • This is great Erica!

    Thanks

  • ugly bitch ...:-/

  • I love the idea but i have a few questions: I see that you make a "to do daylist" and a "week targets list" on 1 page. Why? If i write 6 items (or so) for the "to do daylist" i wonder if i can do them all! Maybe i can do only 3 tododay-things.. But if they are priorities, i can't pick other items from the "week targets list" because the to do day things have to go first. Do you write everyday your weektargets on a new page? Do you add things to the weektargets?

  • You are my kind of girl.

  • lovely positive video, and what is more, is that it shows we can stop the incessant acquisition of 'must have's' that are supposedly 'essential' to getting things done...

    great attitude erica

  • Great information. A simple yet effective system indeed. Keep it up

  • I really liked this video - it seems like a simple concept but one that would also be effective, particularly at work because important emails can get lost amongst others

  • Hi Erica!

Thanks for this one, appreciate your easy-going yet professional style. One Question: How do you plan your monthly tasks, I mean, how do they translate to your weekly list and then on to the To Do-list? There must be some steps in between, right, because the monthly projects would be too big.

    Thanks for the advice!

  • I would suggest getting (David Allen - Getting Things Done) and getting a Filofax planner.

  • Nice video, you show ur notebook nice, but do you have any other way to collect things and to processing and organize them?

  • super cute, organized, energetic and enthusiastic

    great gtd video

  • This was the perfect video at the right time, and you were the perfect person to present it. Thank you for this!

  • Awesome!!

  • erica, do you use a calendar (ie day-runner, etc etc) at all? thanks

  • I use Google Calendar for my calendar. It syncs to my phone.

  • hey erica! love love love this video. you're super cute & easy to listen too. questions - what size notebook is this is it a 1,3, or 5-subject notebook? so at the front of the notebook, are all your monthly lists? for example, the first page is jan's list? and 2nd page is feb's list? or did you put feb's list after all your jan stuff? last but not least, where did you put the "done by end of week" list at? on the same page as the first day of the week or? thx again. huge fan of your website too!

  • Hi Diana,

The notebook is smaller than a full 8.5x11 notebook. It's 5x7.

My monthly lists are at the front, yes.

My weekly lists go throughout the whole notebook. So I'll have a page with a weekly list, then a page with a daily list, etc.

  • Got it. Thanks Erica!

  • I like your tongue in cheek .."very professional" ...keep up the good work...

  • pretty good that's wat I do too lol well sometimes

  • Hi kgazette,

I write the weekly goals once a week--typically on the Saturday or Sunday prior. (Worst case, Monday morning.) They are things I want to accomplish before the week ends--I consider my week to end 11:59PM Sunday night.

    -Erica

  • splurged 6$ !!! =))

  • Do you re-write the weekly goals every day? Are they for the coming week, or for the calendar week? In other words, if it's Wednesday, are your weekly goals things you want to accomplish by next Wednesday, or things you want to accomplish by midnight on Saturday?

  • Thanks! Nicely done. Clear information and I'll probably try it. New phase of life and needing to come up with a new system that works for me.

  • Nickel uses Evernote too, Trent. I'm more of a pen-and-paper guy for this sort of thing. But I'm mainly a "not do it at all" guy. Maybe I should try Erica's method.

  • This is actually pretty similar to what I do, except I use Evernote for it instead of a notebook. Lots of lists and a weekly review! Kudos!
